How to unlock the Legend achievement in DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION - Definitive Guide

Here are some general tips I found to work well completing the game on the hardest difficulty.

1: Save the game after every important event, such as clearing a room or beating a mission

2: Go silent and non lethal. It's easier. Getting into firefights on the hardest difficulty is ridiculous. 2 shots and you're dead. Stay hidden. Try to sneak through areas using air vents and use stealth in general.

3: Upgrade your battery often to enable you to run through enemy strongholds while cloaked. You can sometimes skip entire sections of the game if you have enough battery power to run through them with stealth camo engaged.

4: Upgrade your take-down ability. Being able to take down two enemies with one take down will prove highly useful later in the game.

5: Go everywhere, find everything, do all side missions, and whatever else you can think of to upgrade your character.

First boss: Stay hidden, and shoot him the head when he waits for his weapon to cool down. If you have no weapons, try throwing the gas canisters and explosive barrels at him.

Second boss: stay away from her at all times. Lay a few shots off, and run away. Save the game after every engagement. Try to get her to electrocute herself using the power, just remember to jump to avoid being electrocuted (or upgrade your leg prosthesis to enable surviving the electrical current).

Waiting for the Funicular: I avoided this entire firefight EASILY. Simply barricade the entrances to the room with boxes and vending machines. To be safe, lay gas mines near the barricades just in case they squeeze through (which they probably won't). Now just sit and wait for the funicular happily and safely.

Third boss: This boss fight is incredibly easy. At the start of the fight, run to the left, and as the boss jumps over the wall, knock him out with a take down. This video will show you how:

Forth boss: This is easier than it seems. First take out the turrets with a heavy weapon like the grenade launcher. Then either hack the terminal to disable the pods, or open the hatches and stun the women inside. Sometimes soldiers will come in. Use take downs or gas grenades for quick neutralization. Once the women inside are out cold (or dead), run to the highest point of the map. It's like a little cove. Just look for it and you'll find it. (or upgrade your leg prosthesis to enable surviving the electrical current) It's the only place the electric currents doesn't reach. Stay there crouched and unload bullets on the window protecting Zhao, or just wait for her to break it herself. When she's exposed, take her out however you please. I just spammed her with the lazer rifle. It's actually really easy, just make sure to save frequently.

This is basically the strategy I used as well. A few tips:

The pistol with armor piercing upgrade is a great overall weapon for dealing with bosses and the two mechs you are forced to destroy.

The first two bosses I easily defeated using a combination of the pistol and Typhoon system (fully upgraded) and used energy replenishment items immediately after using Typhoon to use it again. I did not upgrade energy capacity, only recharge speed.

I found the last boss incredibly easy as well, using the laser (no upgrades at all) to take down the turrets and then aimed for Zhao once she became available to attack.

against the robots, emp grenades work like a charm (at least on easy its one nade per mech and at least one of them is in that area). also, theres a rocket launcher and two rockets total in that area.

for the third boss, you should stress, that the player definitely needs to skip the biochip update, or else you have to find the boss the traditional way.

Im thinking about playing this game. Im assuming from your guide that playing through on an easier setting does not allow you to carry over prior upgrades. Is this correct? Thanks in advance. J

Good to hear that jedimaster573, unfortunately augmentations do not carry over from one playthrough to another! So if you wish to play with different playstyles you will either have to have multiple saves going, or complete the game more than once (I did the latter)

So can turn "objective locators" and "object highlight" back on without affecting this achievement? I see with this setting, the game turned them off... But after 1.5 playthroughs (I missed pacifist and thought I could pick up from a save... It did not work), I sort of want them back. Thanks.

@ShutTheCakeHole Wow, yah I had the exact same issue. Beat the game on easy. Then beat the DLC on easy. Then made a new game and played through the game on the hardest difficulty, only popped Foxiest of Hounds and Pacifist, no Legend achievement. I can't believe there aren't more cases of this occurring...

The first 2 bosses can both be easily beaten with just a stun gun and around 10 shots each, if you can manage to shoot them in the head every time, otherwise its closer to 20 shots.
And for the final boss, even if you failed the speech challenge and didn't get the override code, you can still type it in anyway, 2012. It helps shorten the fight and turns off the turrets if I remember right.

Glitch happened to me as well. I beat the game on easy and then played through on Hard and when I beat it it didn't pop so I'm on my third try.

FYI for the second boss lady - she takes 14 stun gun shots to kill. You can start hitting her right after she appears in front of you. This is useful if you don't have the right upgrades or Typhoon, etc.

Final Boss - (BUY EMP SHIELD UPGRADE) cloak, run around the middle area to the other side and find the panel. Punch in 2012. Wait about 2.5 minutes. Then shoot her in the face. Watch the patrolling robot, otherwise you can just sit there.

Nice guide, but I would add one thing: upgrade typhoon as early as possible.

On the hardest difficulty ~3 hits with the typhoon will drop every boss.

All I did with the bosses was get close and typhoon their asses. Even the last boss fell this way - I didn't bother touching anything else (turrets, chicks in pods, etc). I just ran over, typhoon and BAM! I was standing before the computer making the critical decision.

Have you heard of a bug dealing with getting this achievement. I played and finished the game on 'Give me a story' (easy). While going for the hardest setting - i think there is only three (3) to choose from - i also played the 'missing link' downloaded content on easy. Once I finished the DLC, i went back and finished the main story on the hardest mode. I received:
Deus Ex: Human RevolutionFoxiest of the HoundsShutTheCakeHoleThe Foxiest of the Hounds achievement in Deus Ex: Human Revolution worth 362 pointsComplete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without setting off any alarms.

Deus Ex: Human RevolutionPacifistShutTheCakeHoleThe Pacifist achievement in Deus Ex: Human Revolution worth 319 pointsComplete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without anyone dying by your hand. (Boss fights don't count.)

but did not receive this achievement. So now I am playing for a third time to get hardest and i am not quite sure why it did not pop for me on the second play through. I guess just be cautious playing DLC on a setting other than hard when attempting this achievement.

Let me know if anyone else has experienced this.

Adding to the previous solutions, there's a very easy way to kill the final boss, but requires a bit of previous preparation. You must carry a Laser Rifle (you can find one behind Tong in the Harvester Hideout, or another in the room where you fight Jaron Namir).

You will need like 600 ammo for the rifle. It's easy to find some batteries in Panachea, they are located at the beginning of the level over a red crate, and inside the rooms where Taggart and Sarif are.

When the fight with the boss starts, simply activate the cloaking so the turrets don't kill you, get nearer the boss and shoot her through the glass. Don't worry, the laser goes through and damages her. Hold the trigger a few seconds, and it's done. Easy as pie.

Here are some tips for the boss fights because if you go in prepared they're stupidly easy.

First Boss:
Before you walk in try and upgrade a combat rifle/machine pistol and stock up on ammo. Will make it a lot easier not risking yourself to get the ammo.As soon as it starts shoot the explosive barrel next to him.

In 2 corners of the room there are little rooms where the guy won't follow you in, he will stand at the opening. Just cover behind the box on the left and when he throws a grenade run to the other side and repeat. If the grenade lands in between the two bits of cover run outside and just use the cover of the columns. Also make sure your shooting him in the face. If you have any grenades use them as they will help.

Second Boss:
Make sure you get the augment which stops any electrical damage it will make this 20 times easier. It is the 4th upgrade under dermal armour Before you walk into the elevator there is a room to the left with a Heavy Rifle and Ammo. Make sure you take it in with you even if it means dropping a machine pistol or combat rifle. Also if you have any EMP mines bring them.

As soon is it starts just shoot her until she runs away. Then place an EMP mine next to the 2 generators next to you. (If you don't have an EMP mine just shoot the generators when she walks past them. Then just unload heavy rifle in her face. Should have more than enough ammo. There are also more generators around the room. But the augment is key as otherwise you'll take electrical damage when the generator brakes.

Third Boss:
If you have the grenade launcher from Tong's bonus mission then simply shoot him 5/6 times and he should drop literally takes 5 seconds.

If you don't have pre-order bonus mission pack then there is a handy glitch where you can just knock him out using B (video below, courtesy of PowerPyx on YouTube)

Final Boss:
Instead of killing the pod things manually there is a level 5 keypad which deactivates them. Code is 2012. After that simply hide until the glass brakes and then unload on that bitch. There is a platform where the electrical floor charge can't get you. But if you have the augment i recommended for the second boss it should be fine. Just avoid the security bots.

All the bosses up to and including Namir can be stun locked with frag mines. As soon as the action begins hit them directly with said mine and it is plain sailing from there, usually takes about 5/6 mines. If you don't hit them with the 1st mine then I recommend re-starting the last save as it would be easier in the long run.

I found this difficulty to be, in all honestly, not that hard.

The only real degree of difficulty with "Give Me Deus Ex" is the enemies hit you much, much harder, and sometimes there are 1 or 2 more enemies walking around.

If you take this difficulty on, I highly suggest going for these two as well:

Deus Ex: Human RevolutionFoxiest of the HoundsThe Foxiest of the Hounds trophy in Deus Ex: Human Revolution worth 253 pointsComplete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without setting off any alarms.

Deus Ex: Human RevolutionPacifistThe Pacifist trophy in Deus Ex: Human Revolution worth 235 pointsComplete Deus Ex: Human Revolution without anyone dying by your hand. (Boss fights don't count.)

Why do I suggest this? On "Give Me Deus Ex" your best bet for survival is not getting the attention of any enemy. Period. This means:

1.) No killing anyone, and keeping take-downs to a minimum (when necessary)

2.) No setting off alarms, or jumping into a group of enemies who will set off alarms

3.) Sticking to the shadows as often as you can, avoiding cameras and turrets as opposed to hacking them

With this approach you will breeze through levels without really having to concern yourself with enemies, making the boss battles your only difficult milestones. HOWEVER with the typhoon fully upgraded these guys also become a joke. Refer to these solutions for more details:

Completing side missions is basically up to you - they take some extra time, but there is really no danger here EXCEPT if you decide to engage in a firefight (as even the wimpiest of enemies can drop you with ease). If you do decide to complete side missions, I advise not deviating from the tactics above.

If you have any questions, or something is unclear, please ask in the comments below.

When starting a new game, select the Legend difficulty. If you're planning on doing one playthrough, in theory this shouldn't be a problem as you'll be going for the 'Foxiest of the Hounds' achievement at the same time. This means you'll HAVE to take all the stealth and alternative routes so you don't get caught.

The Bosses will be the only thing that may cause you a bit of trouble, but if you've levelled yourself and your guns right, you should be ok. I recommend using the Typhoon ability as this can kill any boss in a matter of turns! Use the environment to your advantage plus your equipment.

Throwing gas/EMP grenades or even triggered mines are all helpful, so don't be shy to use them.

On Hard difficulty, enemies pack a punch and can put you down in a matter of seconds if engaged in direct combat. Playing with Stealth is the way forward and is actually considered the bread and butter of the game.

Most of the time, there are multiple entry routes to your destination that are accessible by the variety of Augmentations at your disposal. For more info on which Augmentations to take and gameplay tips, checkout our Strategy Section.

For those who want to make a demigod out of Adam by completely improving ALL his implants, the following glitch for endless experience and money will help:

In Adam's office at Sharif Industries there is a computer with a level 3 lock.

1 You need to save right in front of the computer

2 You need to hack this computer (very easy to do with a couple of worms or bombs), a message will pop up saying that you have received 500 credits and 500 experience

WITHOUT PRESSING CONFIRMATION IMMEDIATELY PRESS START and load the save file in front of the computer

3 We hack it again, but this time we get 1000 credits and 1000 experience (each time we will give 500 more experience and money)

You can repeat this ad infinitum until you get bored or until all the implants are pumped in, which makes it much easier to complete on the highest difficulty and get

Enjoy

PS works with any terminal panel - simple in Adam's office gives the maximum amount of experience for hacking, a lot of experience is also given for breaking into a safe in the "old acquaintances" quest

Adam's computer can be hacked a second time when Malik is delivered from the roof of your apartment to the Sharif. After the conversation, I went into Adam’s office; the computer had a lock.

An excellent weapon is fragmentation mines. The power is comparable to a shot from a rocket launcher, and in the inventory (3 pieces) they take up only 2 slots! You can not only buy it (cheaply), but also clear it and take it with you. To clear mines, go single file and very slowly to the mine and press twice . The boss only takes ~3-4 minutes. You can also use fragmentation mines to break through weak walls.

The entire game is easily and effortlessly played in stealth mode with a minimum of pumped-up implants (at the end there were 20+ praxis not used).
Bosses on hard die in 1-2 minutes from a combination of a shock pistol + fragmentation grenades.
We hide behind cover, then shoot from a shock pistol, then throw a grenade. Repeat until the boss dies.

Maybe it will be useful to someone - have you noticed that when a security guard passes in a place where laser sensors are connected, they are temporarily turned off?

I knock out the guard, throw him at the gate with sensors - they are turned off and do not respond to you.

At the difficult level, there is no such nice feature as auto-hacks of locks (which you get acquainted with in the arsenal of the first merchant in Detroit).

Start playing the game right away on this difficulty level, it is not very difficult. Play for your own pleasure (the Typhoon system will come in handy).

Although, you can leave this trophy for the third playthrough of the game and arrange an exterminatus. Pump “Praxis” into your hands to reduce recoil and improve stabilization when running, into “Skin Shell”, be sure to learn the skills of protection against the effects of gas, stun and EM grenades. Well, don’t forget about weapons, of course.
