How to unlock the The Mantis achievement in DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION - Definitive Guide

OK she is ultimately child's play if you have the stun gun. The stun gun... well it stuns her, obviously, but it does damage as well. And you can headshot with a stun gun. Fortunately her stun animation is longer than the stun gun reload animation.

So let her charge you, there will be a brief pause after she does so. Now hit her with the stun gun.

Keep hitting her with the stun gun, preferably in the head/neck area, ensuring that she doesn't break out of stun. After about 8-10 shots she should go down.

A little cheesy, but on Give Me Deus Ex with a stealth character it's prolly the best way to go about it.

Worked just fine for me - even though I managed to miss at point-blank range with a shot....

I got a glitch at her, so i don´t need any solution, but it sounds good. Give it a try the next playthrough.

Took me 15-18 on Normal (can't remember what it is called), but I think that was because I was terrible at aiming for her head! Got it on my second try (messed up on her charging at me first time). Great solution, much easier than going in guns a-blazing.

about 15 Zaps with a Stun Gun and 4 EMP grenades on "Give me Deus Ex"
whenever I attempted a melee Kill or KO she just snapped straight out of her stunned mode

If you don't have a stun gun, just backtrack until a bit after the long elevator part, take it back up and go a bit further back (after the stairs) there is a room around the area with a stungun in there.

So very very cheap, but so very very effective on 'Give Me Deus Ex'. Excellent strategy for us stealthy folk who don't even carry lethal weapons.

For people having a hard time hitting her in the head, just keep your reticule still because she does a wide circle with her head when she staggers that is the same every time. Zap her every time she comes into aim. I got all head shots without moving my camera.

This works really well. I used about 8 shots out of 12 (as I wanted to keep some for later) and a couple of mines and she went down like a sack of potatoes.

great solution. I got lucky the 4th time i tried and after hitting her with the stun gun she glitched and quit moving. I just shot her to death afterwards. Thanks a bunch!

Worked for me with 5 stun gun shots (about 2 were headshots) and two fully-upgraded Typhoon detonations. The typhoon launch seems to stun her as well..

I had to reload an old save once I read this but it was totally worth it for the 6 praxis points I allocated just to kill her!

OUTRAGEOUSLY EASY!

Not sure what happened but I'm playing the directors cut and the stun time is absolutely not longer than the reload animation. I assume this was "patched" when they incorporated the dlc and modified boss fights in this edition of the game.

nvm I backtracked, gotta love it lets you backtrack as far as you want... Great guide, it did take me a couple of goes, had to get right up in her face but worked eventually, I think I shot her with 9-10 give or take a shot. Thank you!

I just did this on Give Me Deus Ex as well. Piece of cake. I recommend hitting her in the face from VERY close up. Close enough to see the takedown icons appear. This is super easy after you hit her the first time cause she just stands in place. EMP grenades seemed to help a bit too.

I tried this once getting the EMP shielding, then reloaded and tried again without wasting any points in the Dermal Armor tree. Just as easy as long as you stun her once and then keep putting more stun gun darts in her face point blank. She never gets a chance to zap you.

Easy boss fight, even on "Give me Deux Ex".

All I used was 4 frag mines and the combat rifle.

The fight starts off with her charging at you. I ran immediately to the left behind one of those walls. I placed a mine at the only two ways she could get at me. She ran at me, hit the mine and was stunned. I popped around the corner and pumped rounds into her head till she recovered. Then rinse and repeat. The fight lasted less then a minute and I still have one frag grenade she didn't hit.

Just to note there are plenty of lockers around the place you fight her if you are low on anything.

I had an upgraded typhoon augmentation. As soon as she ran at me I used the typhoon. I used it three times and she went down. I was playing on the Give Me Deus Ex difficulty. A little cheesy, but it was quick and painless.

Just so everyone is aware - on Give Me Deus Ex Difficulty, FOR ANY BOSS FIGHT: 3 to 4 Typhoon hits will end the fight.

Stock up on Typhoon ammo and energy bars. At the beginning of the Yelena fight, or whoever, make sure you have enough typhoon shots, and energy bars, to pull off 4 (it may be 3, I forget) and she will go down.

Fight done in under 30 seconds.

And don't worry if she is shooting you - you are invincible during the typhoon animation.

Questions, corrections and neg vote justifications below.

Following weapons and augmentions I used
- Dermal Armour at Damage Reduce 3 and EMP Shielding
- Heavy Rifle (With a big ammo bank - Can be gotten before entering the room)
- Recoil Compensation at 2

__Yelena causes damage by her twin Machine Pistols, Typhoon and will do 50 points if you try to CQC her__

A effective method used when up against Yelena was to let her running around and charge at you (Eliza will let you know when she is close), When she's in sight, shoot one of the four power generators until it explodes, the resulting explosion will send a electrical current across the entire floor, stunning her with a possible injury

((It can affect you , BUT If you have EMP Shielding, you are unaffected by the voltage and take no damage. ))

While Yelena is stunned from the current, offload a few heavy bullets into her until its close to overheating, but keep some distance because when she recovers she will charge again, too close and she'll activite the Typhoon against you

((With Recoil Comp. 2, Your firing won't be affected during the Heavvy Rifle's rapid fire and you'll fire at a straight line at her))

If she recovers from the shock, destory another generator and repeat the offload after a bit (mostly twice or three), she will be defeated

Any questions or Comments please let me know

Good luck

(Played on Give me Deus Ex) I used about 3 bursts of Typhoon, running away between each one to let my energy recover. When she's stunned from the blast lob in a grenade / empty a clip at her to add more damage.

Okay well if you’re like me and don’t have enough stun rounds, or any other weapons besides the heavy rifle found outside the door before the boss fight and are struggling, this is what I did:

Right after the cutscene, she starts in front of you and charges at you. Just try and run far enough away past her so you don’t get hurt too bad by her attack. Once she pauses for a moment after her attack, hit her with the stun gun right away and switch to your heavy rifle as fast as you can. Then start unloading on her. It’s about 50 bullets before the rifle has to cool down so get up super close to her and try and make sure as many as possible hit her in the head. When she pulls out her guns, just step to the side as she only fires in one direction once she starts.

Then she will run away, take time to hide behind the walls and regenerate health; don’t go looking for her. Once the AI tells you she is coming again, move back into the open and let her charge at you. This time though (and all times after this), she will charge at you three times. Once you dodge her three times, stun her, switch to your heavy rifle, fill her with bullets until she pulls out her gun and shoots for a bit, then runs away, hide to regen health and repeat.

I only had 6 stun rounds and I believe it took me 4 and about 150-200 heavy rifle bullets to finish her off. There is plenty of heavy rifle ammo in the room where you find the heavy rifle.

My advice would be to go by the top solution and hoard stun rounds so you don’t have to go through the frustration of finding another way out, but if you’re out of luck this is another way to go.

For those wondering, yes I did this on the hardest difficulty, Give Me Deus Ex.

As with all the bosses in this game, you only need to do 1 thing: TYPHOON! laugh

Seriously though, max out your typhoon as soon as you can. On "Give Me Deus Ex" difficulty, you can drop this gal, and the other bosses as well, with 3 typhoon hits.

All you need prior to any boss fight is:

1.) Maxed out Typhoon
2.) Typhoon ammo
3.) Energy bars

Yelena is at the end of the Picus mission. She has a tendency to go invis, but she will run right at you in the beginning and make this an easy KO. smile

This is story related and cannot be missed.

This achievement will unlock once you've defeated Yelena Fedorova at the Picus Headquarters.

Story related. Yelena Fedorova is the 2nd boss of the game, whom you’ll encounter in Montreal.

This fight occurs after you’ve met the REAL Eliza Cassan. Yelena has the ability to cloak herself. Fortunately the area is filled with puddles of water so you can observe her movements by paying attention to the ripples of water. Eliza will lend you a hand by telling you to duck, right before she attacks. There are 4 servers in this circular room which produce electrical shocks when destroyed. This coupled with the water puddles makes for a deadly combination, for you and her.

The easiest way to take her down is 2 strikes from a fully upgraded Typhoon Aug when she rushes you. Otherwise, you’ll have to play cat-and-mouse by laying mines, grenades and running away when she rushes you then turning around and pump her full of lead. It's highly recommended that you have the EMP Shielding augmentation to avoid damage from the electricity and take advantage of the stunned Fedorova with gun fire. Repeat until she falls.

You can kill this person using the Level 2 Typhoon system and a couple of shotgun clips.

It's easier to use stun and EM mines, if available. They can be found in the closets in the boss room.

There is an alternative option:

  • pump up resistance from electricity (optional);
  • We shoot from powerful weapons in turn at four white luminous columns until they explode (do not forget to dodge Lenka). ATTENTION: immediately after the destruction of each of the columns, electricity will be supplied for some time. current. As described above, you can use the corresponding ability or eat Hypostim.

Everything is much simpler and faster, completed in 1 minute at max level. As soon as she runs at you at the beginning, we turn on the typhoon, while she is in shock and shoots her in the head with a shotgun. She runs away, we stand behind the right wall, as soon as she runs up she hits the typhoon again, a shot from the shotgun to the head and that’s it

If the “Typhoon” system suddenly doesn’t exist, then a pumped-up skill “Protection from EMP grenades and electricity” will not hurt, since the madam will be quite dabbling in electric current, and there will be a lot of water on the floor of the room.

It’s easy to track the boss by the traces left on the surface of the water, by the shadows on the walls, run after her, throw grenades, and when she runs at you, coming out of invisibility, run back from her and shoot at her. Nothing complicated.

Three times I “introduced” her to the typhoon and... that’s it! (at the highest level of difficulty). There was no need for any other damaging attacks directed at her. Naturally, the typhoon was pumped to the maximum, but by the time I met this lady, this was not a problem at all, and there were enough cartridges for the above-mentioned system in the surrounding cabinets. And even if the power units are in zero condition, then running around in circles until one unit is restored is very easy, this is enough for one use of the typhoon, and, as stated above, three times.

the Typhoon system is just a few volleys in a row without giving it a chance and the battle will be over in 10 seconds
