How to unlock the The Snake achievement in DEUS EX: HUMAN REVOLUTION - Definitive Guide

OK, all the other guides are great, if you match their loadout. Here's my alternative, since, once again, I didn't plan for a boss fight at all.

Method 1) One Punch Victory.

***eHeadaches:
"one punch method FTW! however you don't mention to need to hold the B button when he is at the top of the wall, took me a few attempts until i learnt that little nugget."***

Providing you didn't get the 'upgrade' chip from the LIMB clinic, you can defeat Namir in one punch, credit to PowerPyx:

Method 2) Turret Win.
If you're like me, and have the strength upgrade (I'm sure you have if you're playing on stealth) and also the hacking turrets/robots upgrade, simply go back and get the turret from the outside section (you can go back into the elevator and retrace your steps) DO NOT FORGET to reset it to attack enemies ;)
Credit to FavouriteIT

Again, all these methods are very personal to your load out, so negative voting on any of these solutions are unfortunate. Any comments, please add. This was the hardest achievement for me, until I used the turret method!

Thanks for this. I showed up with a pistol and a couple of grenades and was getting hammered, but the turret method worked for me in the end. Actually, stealing the turret (without killing anyone) was harder than the boss fight, but at least it was more fun.

Also I noticed you have to follow the video quite closely or he won't appear in the right place to get mown down :)

Thank you SO much for posting this. After twenty attempts with a double-barrel shotgun that ended with a loading screen, I thought I was going to either start over to not get the biochip upgrade, or snap my disc in a blind rage. The turret worked like a dream. Turret + gas grenade = "Ooh! Ahh!" (Achievement Unlocked)

Thank you! And yes, he must be at the top of the wall when you start your punch. Would have been frustrated if i didn't know that.

I let the LIMB clinic do brain surgery on me.....sooooo it was the second video for me. Worked like a charm though. You have to follow the video exactly. Make sure you break right as soon as the fight starts, it kinda happens fast in the video.

One Punch Victory - Brilliant! Thanks! So glad I did not get that "upgrade."

So what happens if you did get the upgrade? Do you get knocked out by the remote control thingy?

You can't use any implants. You're left with guns, if you brought any, and mines, again, if you brought any :/ And your HUD is all screwed up too :)

Really? Just one punch?

I just did to him what I did to the other two - typhoon. On my Give Me Deus Ex run I just spammed that on everyone. I should try the one punch though...

Bit late to the party, but it looks like the one-punch has been patched. If you try it, he just blocks and flips over you.
You can just clear the game update and do it off-line though.

Just a heads-up.

The one-punch method hasn't been patched, done it just now. You have to hold cn_B in order for it to work; tapping cn_B will allow him to block.

Thanks for the turret tip, that saved my Give Me Deus Ex silent playthrough where I had the biochip. It was very hard to get the turret to be in a spot where it would co-operate and shoot him. I got it eventually by tossing the turret out of the elevator with RT and getting lucky with it's placement.

even with the Biochip implanted this fight can be completed with in a matter of seconds. I played on medium difficulty, if you have the explosive mission pack which you get with pre-ordering the game you will get a grenade launcher. make sure you have this equipped before starting the fight. As it starts fire a few shots at him and the fight should be over.

PS. I'm not sure if the pre-order pack is or will be available to those who never pre-ordered if not i'm sorry but this guide probably wont help you. but you could try using a rocket launcher if you have one in your inventory.
on my next play through ill try and make a video. now go kick some A$$ !

Jaron is the last of the mercs and he carries a big stick. If you went to the LIMB clinic to get the biochip implant then it is hard to complete. During a cutscene right before the fight your biochip will be shut off and that means any augments you have will not work!! Cloak, Typhoon System and even Silent Walking as wel as your radar and health HUD which means you will never be sure how much life you have.

The easiest way I found to defeat Jaron is to use the environment around you well. The arena in which you fight Jaron in is a small square inside a larger square. I suggest sticking to the outside walls of the larger square.

Jaron comes equipped with gas grenades, concussive grenades, emp grenades and frag grenades, but these aren't what you have to worry about. It is the Plasma Rifle he carries that is the biggest problem. Even at full Dermal Armor 3 shots can down you very quick. He also uses Cloak to hunt you down and only reappears when he is tossing grenades. He can shoot the plasma rifle while cloaked.

The strategy I employed was to make sure he followed me around the outside of the larger square and used the corners to provide cover. If you watch carefully you can see his shadow as he comes around the corner and that's when you lay in to him. A few shots and he should appear, jump and throw grenades at you. After he tosses the grenades run down the corridor to the next corner and use it as cover, and repeat the process again. It should take no more than five or six times of this especially if you use 3 shots from the rocket launcher and either the combat rifle (which I preferred for it's quickness) or the heavy rifle (which will take a second to get going, but when it does oooo boy). Just watch out for the plasma rifle and you should be fine. Any questions I can answer just leave them in the comments section...Happy Hunting!!

Unfortunately, I went to the clinic and had to deal with my Augments being turned off... But luckily I had my Combat Rifle equipped with the Target-leading System, so all I had to do was shoot at him and the add-on did the rest. Took me a few tries, though. I mostly found myself circling the outer wall to avoid his fire and he mainly stuck in the middle, so that was my opportunity to unload an entire clip into him, then run away to heal up and reload. Took me well over 10 minutes, but it was so worth it.

Funny enough, when I went through on hard I took down the first two really fast but got my behind handed to me three times by Jaron before I took him down. It was my second playthrough and he was still making me his prison yard girlfriend.

Nice. I am definitely not going to the clinic on my hard playthrough and I am eagerly anticipating the look on her face. Completely caught me off guard when all of my augments were shut off. I screamed at the tv "Who the Hell do you think you are to do that to MEEEEE!"

Nice strategy. Though I myself found he just stood at the far end shooting his Plasma Rifle at me, which allowed me to blindfire with the Laser Rifle, and I finished him off with a couple a rounds from my Grenade Launcher.

*MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*

This is for players who DO HAVE THE CHIP from the LIMB clinic. For players who DO NOT HAVE THE CHIP, see at the bottom for help.

WITH CHIP:
You will need the following:
- Laser Rifle (Found in Tong's office in the underground hideout)
- 2 Frag Grenades (Picked up throughout the game)

So here's a little extra help, especially if you took the biochip, the second time you return to China, from the LIMB clinic.

Before entering the cinematic, make sure you have the Laser Rifle fully reloaded and 2 frag grenades equipped. Now, the fun part. When the cinematic finishes, run to the corner pillar in your view on the left and hug your back to it. Now the great thing about the Laser rifle, it takes Namir out of his cloaking, so, easier target. Also, the rifle doesn't have recoil, so you can blind fire it around the corner without exposing yourself.

If you stick yourself to this point, Namir will jump over the same wall, which you have both sides covered ;) After continuous shooting, he will jump the wall to the other side, switch your view to cover the other side. Throw a grenade down by his feet where he will land. This will not only hurt him (alot) but also stun him. (EMP's don't effect him and concussions will blind you also, no augs remember ;) )

Whilst he's stunned, repeat the blind fire laser shooting into his chest/head area. He will then jump back over the same wall, once again, do the same (grenade, stun, shoot) and you will have killed him :)

----------------------------------------------

WITHOUT CHIP:
You will need the following:

-Nothing. Yes, nothing at all.

You can one hit Namir with a takedown when he's cloaked.
The best way for me was to hug the same pillar as mentioned in the earlier guide. Wait for him to jump, you may want to shoot him to make him jump, when he jumps back over again to the his original position, run up to him when he's climbing and press the B button. It should kill him and take you automatically take you to the next cinematic :)

Hope this all helps, any problems with the solution guide, let me know, I'll be happy to change it :)

This solution was used on Give me Deus Ex and needs at least 5 Frag mines.

I'm doing a non lethal playthrough and had only the stun gun, traquilizer gun, and a pistol so I had to get creative. If you have fragmines this is actually very easy and I had him down in two minutes. All I did was walk around the outside portion of the arena in a clockwise motion while throwing frag mines on the floor leaving adequate space in-between them. It only took 4 or 5 frag mines and he was done. You'll see that if you walk relatively slowly he will pop over the walls and walk right over the mines. Good luck!

As KidIcarus said in the comments -- you can hit him with the first mine (which stuns him) and keep throwing the mines at his feet and that should do the trick as well... Simple enough!

If like me, you got the "upgrade" chip so you lose all your augments during the boss battle, it's a hard battle!

I was playing non-lethal, and the best weapon I had was the heavy rifle.
I managed to get him in the middle of the room, where there is a divider, and he keeps hopping over the middle wall.
Basically, I let him hop over, fired a few rounds, move to the other side, let him hop over again, shoot, rinse and repeat.
If he throws grenades, run to the other end of the middle, and turn round.
Save once you've done him some damage and you're in a good position, and keep at this tactic. Took me while, but it was possible, and not too hard!

I just beat him last night on Give Me Deus Ex with the biochip installed (so no augments). I had no augments, so I could not one-punch him. I did not have the strength upgrade, so I could not get the turret. I did not have the typhoon, so I couldn't use that. I did not have any mines, so I could not do that either. All I had were a few guns (combat rifle, heavy rifle, laser rifle) and two grenades (one gas, one concussion).

The tip I would leave for everybody is: don't give up. I was convinced I would not be able beat him and would be forced to replay hours of my game to change augments or no get the chip. But eventually I beat him with a relatively straightforward strategy: SAVE OFTEN MID-FIGHT. I would wait until I got a bunch of clean shots on him with one of my guns, and then I would run away and save. If I died, I'd just reload and try to get another set of clean shots off. That way, I made sure almost all of my ammo actually hit him. If I wasted bullets firing at nothing or if he killed me, I wouldn't have to start over from the beginning. I was able to beat him, but I used all my ammo from 2 of my 3 guns and finally finished him off with a good gas grenade toss (once again, reload if you miss).

This strategy should work assuming you have enough ammo for a couple guns or grenades. Just thought I'd mention it on here for people who feel they are totally screwed because they lack the requirements for all these other guides. Good luck.

Never give up! NEVER SURRENDER!

Just so everyone is aware - on Give Me Deus Ex Difficulty, FOR ANY BOSS FIGHT: 3 to 4 Typhoon hits will end the fight.

HOWEVER, for this fight with Jaron, it only works if you DID NOT get the chip upgrade. And honestly...

Stock up on Typhoon ammo and energy bars. At the beginning of the Jaron fight, or whoever, make sure you have enough typhoon shots, and energy bars, to pull off 4 (it may be 3, I forget) and he will go down.

Fight done in under 30 seconds.

And don't worry if he is shooting you - you are invincible during the typhoon animation.

Questions, corrections and neg vote justifications below.

The way I beat him:

Give Me a Challenge difficulty
No upgrade chip
Maxed cloak + see through walls
at least 3 batteries
Heavy rifle w/plenty of ammo
Few stim packs

Just flip on your cloak and vision, and spin up your heavy rifle. One full clip and then maybe a half and he should be down. Just strafe around him and he won't really be able to retaliate.

As with all the bosses in this game, you only need to do 1 thing: TYPHOON! laugh

Seriously though, max out your typhoon as soon as you can. On "Give Me Deus Ex" difficulty, you can drop this guy, and the other bosses as well, with 3 typhoon hits.

All you need prior to any boss fight is:

1.) Maxed out Typhoon
2.) Typhoon ammo
3.) Energy bars

Namir is at the end of the Omega Ranch mission. He has a tendency to go invis, but will run right at you in the beginning and make this an easy KO. smile

This achievement will unlock once you've defeated Jaron Namir at the Omega Ranch Facility.

Story related. Jaron is the 3rd boss, whom you’ll encounter in Singapore.

Jaron can cloak like Yelena, but if you pay attention you can still make out the outline of his body when he moves around. He carries a Plasma Rifle and will unleash a burst of shots at you from time to time, or throws a combination of Gas-EMP-Frag grenades at you.

Cheap method: Turn on your cloak and track Namir. He will jump over the glass panes from time to time. Lure him to jump over a glass pane, and immediately melee him where he lands. If you time it right it'll be a 1-Punch-KO.

Another easy way, is to throw a Gas Grenade to temporarily stun him, and unleash 2 fully upgrade Typhoon strikes and end the battle before it even begins.

Alternatively, the area is littered with Glass Panels, which can be penetrated with the Laser Rifle. Lay Mines and lure Namir to them to hurt/stun him, then unleash Grenades and Shots before he recovers. Weapons and items are scattered throughout the room or in the drawers beneath each statue. There’s also a Plasma Rifle in a corner of the room.

Video by PowerPyx, including the Cheap Method

To kill this boss you can do different things:

1) when completing the mission in Shanghai you will be asked to replace the chip with a new one, do not do this

2) if the chip has already been replaced, then the following method helped me: on the upper level there is a turret next to which the soldiers hang out, we knock out the soldiers, and reprogram the turret for ourselves, then (with an implant pumped in for lifting weights) we drag this turret into the elevator, we save and throw it into the room until it stands up normally, then we go inside and run from the boss. at the moment when he attacks the turret, we run up from behind and finish him off.

z.y. if you have 5-6 fragmentation grenades then the mission becomes 10 times easier)

You can also throw (if available) a gas grenade and finish it off with 3-4 shots from a grenade launcher.

PS I had the chip.

If you are the owner of the "Explosive mission pack" version, then the G-87 (in short, a grenade launcher) will be available to you; as soon as the cutscene ends, hit the boss immediately. I managed to shoot 4 times, and then finished him off with a typhoon shot (pumped to the maximum). All this took about 10 seconds on maximum difficulty!
