How to unlock the Laputan Machine achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide
This achievement requires you to defeat Marchenko using his kill switch in Mission 16. Once Alex speaks to Jensen and Mission 17 activates, turn around and go through the double doors on the right. Circle round to the right and go upstairs, where there will be a previously locked door. Go in, past the enemies and through the grey door to trigger a scene.
After the scene, choose the option 'Stop Marchenko'. After that, go through the door on the left, and down the hallway straight to reach a room. Under the desk will be some bags that you can move, and under them will be a weapons briefcase with the kill switch inside (looks like an autotool with a skull on it). Pick it up.
Once you get to Marchenko, during the initial conversation you will be given the option to use the kill switch. Use it, and the achievement will unlock.
1. Immediately after choosing whether to go after Marchenko or the delegates in the final mission in London, go through the left door.
2. After going through the left door, bear right down a hallway.
3. At the end of this hallway is a room with 1 guard at a computer. Take out the guard.
4. Underneath the desk where the guard was sitting and using the computer you will find 2 moveable bags. Move them to reveal a weapons case. Inside will be the kill switch, pick it up.
5. Once you reach Marchenko a cut scene will trigger, he has some dialogue and then a choice appears with the options to Fight or use the Killswitch. Select the killswitch option. There's a bit more dialogue, Jensen uses the switch, and cheevo unlocked!
*SPECIAL NOTE: if you are trying a no kill run for the Pacifist achievement, using the kill switch will void that. You can get around this by making a save just before entering Marchenko's arena, then go in and use the killswitch for the unlock, then reload your save and choose fight instead.
There's another time-based achievement which, if you're going for it, you might want to get the killswitch BEFORE you talk to Jim Miller, as the clock starts immediately after you talk to him and the choice is forced.
It's easy to do this.
After you use the special keycard to get into the catering area, take out all the guards. I think there are three or four. Easy to spot on the map.
DO NOT ENTER THE ROOM WITH THE PRIMARY WAYPOINT YET.
Complete section two and four of this guide first, getting the kill switch. However long this takes you to do, this time will not be removed from the "do both" clock countdown, making it a little easier for you if you're doing both achievements during this run.
I also found there was a LOT of items in this area in addition to the kill switch so, ignore the high-intensity music, and just take your time searching this area before opening the door to the Jim Miller (primary waypoint) room.
Hope this helps!

(Missable!)
For this trophy you need to use Marchenko's Kill Switch to defeat him. This means you need to use the Kill Switch to kill Marchenko. Doing such a thing will of course void the Pacifist trophy from unlocking. Before attempting this trophy it's highly recommended that you make a manual save before proceeding.
During Main Mission 15: Securing The Convention Centre, you'll eventually get a call from Vega as you're making your way towards the Catering Area. Continue making you way to the Catering Area where Jim Miller is at, but before entering the door. Make your manual save here before continuing because going through the door will trigger a cutscene and start Main Missions 16 and 17 at the same time.
To find the Kill Switch before entering the door, turn around and go through the door in this corner. There is an enemy inside the room so take him out or sneak past him. What you need to do is search under the desk that the enemy was sitting at. You'll find two Studio Bags blocking the view of a hidden Weapons Briefcase. Move or throw these bags out the way and open up the briefcase and inside you'll find the Kill Switch. With this in your inventory, you need to make your way towards Marchenko's location.
Before doing so, you can now go through the door to where Jim Miller is at. You'll then have to make a choice of either Stopping Marchenko or Saving the Delegates. Either choice doesn't matter for this trophy unlocking.
When you enter through the doors of the Exhibition Hall, a cutscene will automatically happen. During this cutscene, you have a limited amount of time to use the Kill Switch to defeat Marchenko. Select and choice "Kill Switch" when given the option on the dialogue wheel. Once he's dead, the trophy will unlock and the game will reach the ending. If you still need the Pacifist trophy, reload your last manual save and this time don't kill Marchenko. Instead you can knock him out with a takedown after hitting him with an EMP Mine.
This achievement is missable and is earned during Mission 16, Stopping Marchenko.
First and foremost, you must pick up the Kill Switch before progressing too far into this mission and initiating the fight against Marchenko. After the cutscene with Miller at the end of Mission 15, leave the kitchen the way you came in, only this time, take the corridor on the right-hand side. You will reach a security room with one patrolling enemy. Sneak past him or knock him out; once you're in the room, search underneath the desk on the left-hand side for a weapons briefcase. This briefcase contains the Kill Switch!
With this item in your possession, you can proceed to Marchenko's position. You will be thrown into dialogue as soon as you open the doors to the Exhibition Hall. Marchenko will taunt you and you'll have the opportunity to reveal yourself or use the Kill Switch. Pick the "Kill Switch" option before the timer expires and the achievement will unlock shortly after.
IMPORTANT!
The device kills Marchenko and you won’t get the “Pacifist” trophy. It's better to save before meeting him.
