How to unlock the Smooth Like Soap achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide

Mejia is in the B Block showers. The achievement is unlocked if Adam finds him without raising an alarm. Adam need not have advance knowledge of where Mejia is. If he stumbles into the showers without raising an alarm, the achievement will unlock. There are several clues, though, that provide story continuity. If you undertake the optional mission and deliver the Altered Biocell to Red Shoes, Red Shoes will inform you that Mejia is in the showers. The following guide provides information on how to get to Red Shoes if you need that location as a point of reference for this guide:

Solution for A Just Cause In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

From Red Shoes, it is very easy to get to the showers undetected. There is a secret passage in Room B204 to Adam's right as he reenters the cell block. The secret passage exits into a room next to the showers. To avoid setting off an alarm, Adam can cross the floor to the other side entering a laundry room through an open door. Closing the door for privacy, Adam climbs into a vent that leads to a vacant passageway to the showers. The achievement is unlocked as soon as Adam enters the laundry room assuming no alarms have been set off.

The below video illustrates the above route with an extra wrinkle. To find a clue relevant (but not essential) for the Objection! achievement, Adam takes a small but risky detour. You may not wish to take this detour. It makes unlocking this achievement more difficult, it is not an essential requirement for the Objection! achievement, and the item (a hacking device) can be picked up a little bit later in the game (but requires a larger detour). The video is provided for those who want to be thorough in their pursuit of information pertaining to Wilburg's murder. Nevertheless, you might prefer going directly to the laundry room without going out of your way, risking exposure, to get the hacking device:

I'm doing a video walkthrough for A Criminal Past for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This is the fifth of eight videos that, when played sequentially, will provide a complete walkthrough unlocking all the achievements in the process. This video is preceded by the one for the A Just Cause achievement and will be followed (when I complete it) by the one for the Objection! achievement.

Missable

Extremely challenging if you are in your no-augs playthrough. I recommend doing a 2nd playthrough speedrun with augs for this trophy.

For this trophy, if the detection arcs are still a yellow bar, you're fine. The trophy seems a bit finicky in that it seems to count guards or defenses which have gone Suspicious (ie full yellow detection bar). If you're attempting this in a no-augs single playthrough run, I recommend you reload if that happens. Once you reach Mejia and the cutscene starts, the trophy will pop.

For a route to get the trophy with augs check below for a walkthrough.

You will first need to get multi-tools off inmates. To start, grab the Old Man's Prestige in cell A-305, under the bed. Then follow the story until you get the waypoint marker to find Mejia in Cell Block B. Now enter the Supply Room in Cell Block A (passcode 6014), grab the loot and get into the access port, and go upwards until you reach the ceiling of the Cell Block. Get to the other side of the ceiling into another access port which will take you directly into the Cell Block's security station. Loot everything especially the security pass.

Now head to the Shower Room in Cell Block A, and take out the lone guard inside, grabbing his shotgun. Then jump onto the top of the showers (you need to hop onto a sink first) and up to a shaft opening in the ceiling. You will reach a tunnel with a spinning turbine, use the shotgun and shoot the fan blades to destroy the turbine. Then go into the next access port which brings you to the stash room where the red Cell Block B uniform is. However instead of wearing the uniform, grab everything first including the Neuroprozyne in the locker, then head back to Cell Block A. Now trade the "nupoz" with the inmate in cell A-214, and the Prestige with the inmate standing at the door to the Yard.

With 2 multi-tools, head back to the stash room and switch uniforms. Head out the room and sneak to the right side's electric fence, which has a gate which can be opened with the security pass. Head to the door under the single security camera and use a multi-tool to hack it open. Once inside take out the lone guard, then use the 2nd multi-tool to hack the Security laptop in the adjoining room (make sure to use the EG Panels first) and disable all the cameras. Now head downstairs, and zap both guards with the stun gun (you should have enough ammo if you looted everything thus far), then stroll into the Laundry room for the trophy.

After retrieving the Altered Biocell, speak with Flossy in Cell Block A, mention that you've found it, agree to deliver it to Red Shoes, and your next main objective will require you to find Mejia in Cell Block B. For the purposes of this achievement, you must reach Mejia's location without raising any alarms. This may sound difficult, but since you will likely be stacking "Code of Conduct" on this playthrough, sneaking past hostiles and avoiding confrontation at all costs, remaining undetected shouldn't be too much of a problem. Remember: prison guards and cameras can become suspicious and enter the "search" state. The achievement will not be void until an actual alarm is triggered and the enemy goes from "Search" to "Hostile." In the event you do trigger an alarm, make sure you are reloading your latest save files.

With that said, leave Flossy's cell and follow the objective waypoint on your HUD. It will lead you to Cell Block A's main gate, which can be opened with the Access Card that Flossy gave you (assuming you agreed to his request of delivering the Altered Biocell). Open the gate, enter the threshold, and then open the secondary gate. Take cover on either side of the wall and take note of the camera directly ahead on the Security Office's wall.

Make your way to the left of the Security Office and take the short flight of steps down to a metal door that leads to the service tunnels. Rather than following the tunnel all the way down, look to your right and you'll see a pile of boxes. Move the smaller of the boxes to the ground and it will reveal a ventilation shaft. Open the grate, crawl through, remove the fake panel at the end of shaft, and you will find yourself within a cell on the lowest level of Cell Block B.

You're close to your objective! All you need to do from here is cross the ground level of Cell Block B and reach the showers on the other side. The only problem is that there are two guards between you and the showers. Leave the cell you're currently in and move to the far right side of the room, taking cover behind the pillars as you see fit. Wait a bit while the guards are conversing. Eventually, they will disperse and you can use the pillars and semi-walls as cover as you move towards the gate that leads to the showers. Once you're at the end of the room, wait until the guard here has back turned to you and the camera is looking away. When the coast is clear, open the marked gate with the Access Card, sneak inside, and move down the steps to finally reach the showers.

The achievement will unlock upon entering the showers, provided you did not raises any alarms on your way there.

The easiest way is to change into the Block B uniform by completing the Dressed for the Occasion trophy / Main Exit (Secret) and enter the block and shower room almost without problems. Although there are already enough ways to get there, you will just have to lie down a lot because... There are cameras and security everywhere.

I tried to do it without augmentations, changed into the Block B uniform, walked past all the cameras and guards, as if no one was firing, but they didn’t give me the trophy. It’s easier to do it in a short time, starting the DLS from the beginning, using augmentations, using a cell battery on yourself, which you still find in the dealer’s cell, pumping up invisibility to the maximum, stealing the card in the security room and going straight through block B under invisibility to the shower. It's much easier and faster
