How to unlock the Objection! achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide

Adam's meetings with Mejia all occur automatically through normal story progression. After the first meeting in the B Block showers, Adam must find and meet with him in solitary confinement. Upon using the emergency security override system that allows Adam to open the cell, a conversation with Mejia ensues. When Adam inquires about Wilburg's murder, Mejia will claim ignorance. Nevertheless, if Adam has evidence to the contrary, he will automatically confront Mejia. Mejia will then admit to committing the murder and the achievement will unlock.

The information needed to refute Mejia can be found in two pocket secretaries. The first has information about a suspicious schedule change request. You find it when you enter Processing and search the drawers to the right of Orin Kepac's computer. The computer is inside one of two office areas of a large shelter that spans the processing area. The drawers may appear to be blocked by an inmate who moves over in front of them but they can still be searched. The second pocket secretary has information about an automated security console being hacked to target Wilburg and suggests that Mejia was the hacker. This pocket secretary is in a safe in the Automated Security Office. To ensure the achievement unlocks, make sure you access Adam's database and read these two pocket secretaries either when they are acquired or at some other point before you confront Mejia. Attached is a video guide for the achievement edited to avoid story-related spoilers except for those implied by the achievement description. It starts right after the first meeting with Mejia that occurs automatically through story progression:

There is some optional evidence, too--a hacking device near the crime scene, Wilburg's corpse with heart removed, and an augmented heart--presumably Wilburg's since it was recently removed. The additional evidence is not required for the achievement but is part of the larger story surrounding the goings-on in the prison. Moreover, although these are clues, they are not necessarily evidence that directly refutes Mejia:

The above video shows how to get the two required clues and two of the three optional clues. The third optional clue is picked up earlier in the video that accompanies this guide:

It seems you don't want to use your powers. Is it a prerequisite for the achievement to say no to those pills?

Oh damned grrrrrr...
I thought I just needed to say no to the biocell.
Oh well. Look like I'm gonna need a second playtrought just for that one. Anyway, it will be fast.
Great guides by the way!

Thanks. I appreciate it. If you cannot revert to a change before you took the pill, you might as well splurge and enjoy your powers. The second playthrough will be fast especially, if you don't have to worry about the miscellaneous achievements regarding trades, basketballs, and the like.

For this achievement to unlock, you only need to discover the two required pocket secretaries. If you want 100% completion on one playthrough, however, you must say no to the pills. Otherwise, you will miss the following achievement:

I'm doing a video walkthrough for A Criminal Past for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. This is the sixth of eight videos that, when played sequentially, will provide a complete walkthrough unlocking all the achievements in the process. This video is preceded by the one for the Smooth Like Soap achievement and will be followed (when I complete it) by the one for the Umlauts or no Umlauts achievement.

In order to obtain this achievement, you must confront Mejia about Wilburg's murder when speaking to him in Solitary Confinement.

IMPORTANT: Take note, however, that you must have already found and collected two specific Pocket Secretaries before speaking to Mejia here. If you don't have both Pocket Secretaries, you cannot press him on the murder.

The first of these items can be found on the table near an inmate who is smoking in the Security Hub in Processing (Tower, Level 2). The second Pocket Secretary can be found in an unlocked safe under a desk in the Automated Security Office just outside of Solitary Confinement (Tower, Level 5). Make sure to read the Pocket Secretaries when you pick them up.

Once you have both items, proceed with your objective to free Mejia from Solitary Confinement. During the dialogue sequence, choose the option that reads, "Wilburg's Murder?" and Mejia will try to deflect the question. Given that you have proof from both Pocket Secretaries, Jensen will press him on his lies, leading the man to confess the murder and thus unlocking the achievement.

I also collected the hacking chip from the automated sentry at the Wilburg murder site investigation. I'm unsure if that's also necessary? Great guide though.

@Timber - the hacking chip, augmented heart, and a few other misc. items aren't necessary! I was able to get Mejia to confess with just the 2 Pocket Secretaries :)

Worked absolutely brilliant. I didn't unlock this one on my first playthrough even though I completed the POI's, because of the pocket secretary in Processing. Thanks!

If you're going back to locate the PS from a save that's much further along and get confused because there's nobody smoking nearby. . .It's in the security hub on level two, it's in the center of the white building on level two. Facing the security terminal for the cameras and drones, it's in a desk on your left (toward the turret that will be shooting you if you didn't turn on the privacy glass or disable it already). HTH.

This achievement is one of the more difficult, and missable, of this DLC.

In order to do this you need to find two pocket secretaries prior to letting Mejia out of solitary. After the riot starts and you head toward the main administration building, there is a central internal courtyard between the two main towers. At the bottom of the courtyard, in the center, is a white security building (if coming from the side with the morgue and solitary, get off the elevator at Observation...you'll see it over the balcony, one floor below you). Inside this building, you'll find a pocket secretary inside a desk drawer about changing Mejia's work schedule.

To get the second pocket secretary, take the elevator that goes to the morgue and to solitary confinement all the way to the top floor (the floor is automated defense or something like that). Go into the security room more or less across from the elevator doors and find an unlocked safe with a bunch of items, including a pocket secretary which discusses how Mejia had access to the drone security.

With these two items in hand, you can then let Mejia out of solitary (you can get to it directly across the bridge from where the second pocket secretary was found; dodge the guards and drones and sneak in through a vent) and confront him about the murder to unlock the achievement. Without both of these items you can accuse him, but he won't admit to it.

Missable

This trophy is obtained quite late into the DLC, when you find Mejia after he gets sent to Solitary. The way to get Mejia to confess is via dialogue and it requires you to find 2 Pocket Secretaries (PS) first (thanks to Iceyice & Ace of Toads for confirming this). Once you have both PS and find Mejia, he will automatically confess once you confront him about Wilburg. See below for the locations of the 2 PS.

PS #1: Found in a drawer behind an inmate who is leaning against it. The drawer is inside the security office, a large white-walled room in a large hall. The entire floor is called Processing, the story waypoint marker will lead you there. You reach this area after the riot happens and you leave Cell Block B, and is also the place you got implanted with the chip to inhibit your augs at the beginning.

PS #2: The same building, but at the top floor. Once you arrive at the office room at the top floor, you see several laptops. Under one desk is a safe, which holds the 2nd PS.

It was thought that this trophy would be won in the final dialogue, but it turned out that it was before Mejia was rescued from the cell.

Only in the video the guy didn’t show where he got the first pocket secretary about changing Mejia’s schedule. He showed it himself in front of the second one from the Tower Level 5, but did not specify where it was =)
It is in a desk drawer in the same tower on level 2 - in the center of the hall there are offices fenced with a white accordion. There in one of the offices - in a desk drawer.

It is important not only to find them, but you also need to read them, otherwise the trophy will not drop.

To get the trophy, you need to find two pocket secretaries before Mejia is released from solitary.

Both secretaries are located in the "Tower" location.

1. The first one is on the second floor. In the center of the room on this floor there are two white rooms with a corridor between them. The secretary is in the eastern room in a box next to the security terminal. The message is called "Change in schedule: Mejia, Oscar."
2. The second one is on the fifth floor inside an open safe under a table next to the security terminal. Praxis lies there too. The message is called "Log of commands from turrets."

Having gathered the secretaries, we free Mejia from solitary confinement and in the conversation choose the option “kill Wilberg”.
