How to unlock the Too Hot to Handle achievement in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided - Definitive Guide

Towards the end of the narrative, you will finally reach the server chamber area. This section is a little tricky given a new mechanic where cameras, drones, and robots can now detect heat signature. What this means is that the Glass-Shield Cloak aug won't cover your tracks from their line of sight. Instead, the only way to remain undetected by the security measures is to make use of the red "cooling" vents for cover. These vents will mask your heat signature, which means the best way to move around this massive room is by going from cover to cover, quickly.

Alternatively, if you have dumped your Praxis Kits into the Hacking augs, specifically the Level 3 Hacking augmentation, and can access the conveniently placed security terminal as you enter the server chamber area. After hacking the terminal, you can manually turn off the cameras and drones, thus making this room much easier to navigate.

The achievement will unlock as soon as you interact with the NSN console.

Having made it to the server rooms only to not have enough praxis lots to prevent drones which makes everything so much harder.

Note: Being spotted by turrets, etc. and having them register as 'suspicious' does not negate this achievement; just popped for me despite having effectively been 'seen' but not 'detected'.

This is pretty straightforward. First, save often and reload if you're unsure. Second, you can sneak by a few cameras and a robot in the entrance area with a little patience. Third, once you get into the main vault area, if you hack both level 3 security terminals (use multi-tools if you want to), and you upgrade your hacking to include both robots and turrets, you can pretty much turn everything off in this area and have your free run of the place without having to worry about being detected. Other than a few turrets hidden inside some of the secondary vaults (none of which you have to enter), there is nothing else that will prevent you from getting this achievement, which unlocks around when you get to the mainframe.

(Missable!)

The server area is the final area of the DLC and features many HeatEye cameras, which are security cameras that can detect you via your heat signature, even if you're behind cover. The game also adds cover that produces heat so you can hide behind such cover still. This area is where the game's HeatEye tutorial appears.

To get this trophy easily, follow these steps:

  • Open the door and go to the right heat cover. Wait for the nearest camera to look away then run forward.
  • Take a left in the middle of the room and hide behind the next heat cover. Wait for the camera in front of you to look away, then run forward to the pass-port control.
  • Hit the pass-port, open the door and exit.
  • Ready 2 Multi-tools (you should have enough spare by this point), or if you have high enough hacking skills then go for it.
  • Hack the 2 security terminals with the Multi-tools. It's highly recommended that you have Drone and Turret hacking augs (as mentioned in the roadmap), then turn off everything. Now you can freely roam most of the area, save for a few laser tripwires.
  • If you're aiming for the Saridakis collectibles, now's the time, otherwise just follow the mission markers and do the necessary.

If done correctly and you weren't spotted (you won't if you disabled all the cameras, drones and turrets), the trophy will pop once you get to the NSN chair behind the CTO's office.

To prevent the sensors from noticing you, it is enough to be close to illuminated red objects with the “heat” sign, even if you are 100% visible, but there is a heat icon on the screen, then you are invisible. Turrets and robots see only with heat sensors.

You can get the trophy without much effort. The first room, which immediately after the lift, we pass on the right along heat-emitting objects. And in the server room itself we immediately go downstairs and hack into 2 security terminals (computers) and with pumped up augmentations, turn off all cameras, drones and turrets. The trophy is yours (you will receive it immediately after the story cutscene).

You can get it without the ability to hack droids with turrets. Only remote hacking/disabling is needed. We just temporarily turn off the turret and the droid that is patrolling the area through which you need to run.
