How to unlock the Worthy of Legend achievement in Devil May Cry 5 - Definitive Guide

I'll do my best to provide some useful tips for general purposes, and for each character since it would be difficult to explain each mission. If at any time anyone can provide some additional information to benefit, I'll add it and it will help to improve the guide.

General tips for Each difficulty:

Make use of your checkpoints!!
If you're doing well with style or you have a no-hit run going, instead of restarting the level or checkpoint, dashboard and force quit so the last autosave was at your checkpoint and you can continue with no penalty

* This won't work on Hell and Hell

EX. Provocation: Some enemies cannot jump up to you if you are in an elevated area and you can use this to boost up your Style high and then attack as well as boost you DT gauge

Skippable fights: Not every fight needs to be fought, if there is no red barrier, it's best to avoid those fights altogether. This helps to retain your style points since the are averaged across the entire level, as well as not taking unnecessary damage

Stay in the air: Staying in the air will help you to focus on one enemy and avoid any ground attacks that may try to get you.

Camera movement: This is important! use the camera to your advantage, Enemies cannot attack you if they are not shown in your screen so it can be easier to focus on certain enemies or avoid damage (Out of sight, out of mind!)

Invincibility Frames: This game has what is called "I" frames or invincibility, and by doing a single jump, this will give you a moment of invincibility (you can literally go through attacks doing this but don't push your luck) Constantly be moving and constantly single jump!

Nero Tips:

RAGTIME, RAGTIME, RAGTIME!! I cannot express in words how useful Ragtime is for not only getting out of tricky fights/enemies but also for building style, definitely my most used devil breaker, along side the "buster arm" (Pre-order bonus) The buster arm when charged can instantly kill any enemy or it can deal a large amount of damage to a stunned boss. (between 25% - 50% depending on difficulty)

Exceed & Charge shot: it is important to constantly use exceed attacks for quicker/powerful attacks. Get in the habit of tapping cn_LT during your attacks to fill it up. Your charge shot should always be ready and implemented in combos (Hold cn_X)

Make use of Nico's van: Do not be afraid to use up your devil breakers, you will constantly be doing it! So ALWAYS use the phone to call her to refill as well as using the Divinity statues

V Tips:

It's best to use Shadow autonomously (cn_LT + cn_Y) while using a combination of Griffins Blockade (Hold cn_X) Flank attack (cn_RB +cn_LSu + cn_X) and Double check (cn_RB +cn_LSd to cn_LSu + hold cn_X)

Nightmare: Should only be called out if you have either Shadow or Griffin "stalemated" to instantly revive them, or when things are getting hairy and you need a distraction. Nightmare tends to hold the aggro for you

The Book: Use this only when you feel safe/confident enough to build up so DT, or to keep nightmare in play for longer!

Auto Attack I found it very useful to switch V's attacks to "auto" by holding the cn_RSc for 2 seconds. During this, you can simply just press any cn_X or cn_Y attack and Griffin & Shadow will do all the work for you. Just stay out of harms way! The only issue is that this will incur a .25 penalty. However, providing you never get hit for the entirety of a level, you can guarantee yourself the S rank every single time!!!

Dante Tips:

DR. Faust!!! This weapon is a godsend against tough bosses and clearing out hordes of enemies while using Red hot night (In Gunslinger, cn_RB + cn_LSu + cn_B)

Dr Faust' Red shot attack (Hold cn_X) is extremely powerful against bosses, I'd recommend using while in Trickster stance to move quickly if needed

Double Kalina Ann: Use the Mega Cascade ability (While in Gunslinger, cn_RB + cn_LSu + cn_B Hold for longer attack) for this to help build up your DT and some style, especially useful in helping fill your Sin DT gauge.

Sin DT gauge: This should be used incase of an emergency or to eliminate tough enemies like Fury, Nobody, or Hell Judecca, I would use only two attacks, 1st The Luce ( Hold cn_RT) and 2nd Demolition (Hold cn_LT)

Royal Guard: This is useful to not only build up your DT but also to increase your style rank to SSS so that way your combos will start off with a lot of points

If you see anything you can add let me know and I'll improve the guide! I'll do my best to add boss strategies too to help with some of those harder difficulties!

I know Mission 18 tends to be one of the harder ones, here is a strategy that can work on any difficulty to get an S rank, the video was done on DMD difficulty to showcase its effectiveness

Mission 12 was also another tricky one, but there are many skippable fights and a good Dr. Faust strategy to use here again. This is also on DMD to show that it works well

With Dante, I'd recommend using Balrog + trickster to teleport above him and just spam your fist attack until it staggers him, then use "Real Impact" (RB + LS back + B) to deal massive damage, or you can use Dr. Faust and just hold X until it kills him (honestly I couldn't be bothered to try and get style against this guy, too much of a hassle)

Some great tips, the guide for mission 12 saved me a LOT of hassle...

Quick question - do you need to S rank every mission with all characters? i.e do i need to S rank mission 7 with Nero AND V and mission 13 with all 3? I'm assuming not as i didnt need to for Hell of a Hunter, but some clarification would be nice :)

Just got this last and final achievement and i must say Hell and Hell was easier than i imagined with the use of Dr Faust with Dante and Punchline with Nero. Bit of advice for everyone dont worry about your style points epescially for HaH as along as you do not get hit the multipler at the end for no continues & no deaths is x3.2 so good luck on your adventures :)

You were actually well over the threshold for Hell and Hell. You need 5500 for S Rank on that difficulty. I'm fairly confident the amounts needed are:

Human - 4000
Devil Hunter - 5000
Son of Sparda - 5500
Dante Must Die - 6000
Hell and Hell - 5500

Oh man mission 4 and 5 were a PAIN! 4 gave me lots of grief because it’s such a cramped fight and you have so many things on the screen trying to hit you, mission 5 is just long and the boss fight is dragged on and that damn time freeze shit gets old really quick.

So I've just found out that you need over each threshold for the S rank. I just got 6000 points on mission 4 on DMD and got an A rank. So you need at least 4001, 5001 etc.

I finally got all the achievements! Just a quick tip for mission 8 on hell and hell, you HAVE to get hit by the boss once you break his shield since it’s a scripted encounter, the problem with this is it voids the no damage and no continue bonuses you get at the end of the mission, even though the fight ends instantly and you don’t “continue” you lose both bonuses at the end. Absolute bullshit! those bonuses are the main factors in getting your guaranteed S rank. For people going for the all S rank hell and hell run do yourselves a favor - if your style points are under 4600 before entering the boss room just restart, my final score for mission 8 was 5935, so I must have had just enough to get the s rank, this was the only mission that really gave me problems and it took me hours to finally get the S rank.

f you are having trouble clearing Hell and Hell mode here is a break down of all Dante's missions with simple methods to get S rank and no damage on them all, especially mission 10 which i know annoys a lot of people. This method can be applied to all difficulties not just Hell and Hell and might even be simpler on other difficulties. I will include timestamps as well so you can go straight to the missions you are having issues with Hope it helps :)

Timestamp
Mission 10 - 00:29
Mission 11 - 09:21
Mission 12 - 18:41
Mission 16 - 24:47
Mission 17 - 30:48
Mission 18 - 32:51
Mission 19 - 38:15

Getting S rank with V is very simple all you have to do is make sure you take no damage and you are guaranteed an S rank at the end with this method. The other thing you need to do for this is just turn on auto-assist and just start pressing his attack buttons. You can make it even simpler on your thumbs by mapping Griffon and Shadow attacks to trigger buttons and then you just press while reading your book to get DT up faster. If Griffon or Shadow go down at any point just activate your DT they will come back up straight away.
For normal fights I would suggest powering up Griffon and Shadow with DT to make the fight go quicker. However, if you are about to face a difficult/ annoying enemy save your DT to instant revive if one goes down especially for boss fights.
The penalty you would take from using auto-assist would get negated by the x2.00 No damage and x1.20 No continue. This can be done for any mode

Explanation and 1st example on Dante Must Die - 00:00
Ranking Results from this method - 16:13
2nd example on HELL AND HELL - 16:53

Here is a guide with a full character, enemies and mode intro and mission walktrough for how to master the Nero H&H-missions (which is the hardest part of this achievement), and how to do it while allowing for taking up to two hits per mission:

This is the hardest trophy in the game and you'll be going for the above trophy Hell of a Hunter as well. This will test your patience and you must have some skill to survive without using continues. All difficulties must be cleared with a S rank. The best way to get this trophy is to clear every mission with no damage. You'll receive a S rank 90% of the time. Even though you don't have enough stylish points, the bonuses you receive will determine your overall score. Another way is to get really good at reaching high stylish rating SSS during fights. I will provide combos/inputs below that will help get you in the S rating easily. As long as you remain above S rank requirement, you can die at least twice so when you clear stage you'll still receive that S rank.

Bonus and Penalties:

Using Super Costumes - x0.2 = Taking 80% of your score from you which means no S rank.
Using Auto Assist - x0.8 = Taking 20% of your score from you. You can still get a S Rank but under harsh conditions.
Using checkpoints - void = Nothing happens but you'll receive no bonus. S rank is still possible
Using checkpoints x3 - x0.5 = Takes 50% of score from you which means no S rank. Don't use checkpoints more than twice.
Using Gold and Red Orbs = You'll be penalized by how many you use. The more you use the greater the penalty.
Using No continues + x1.2 = This will add 20% more bonus to your score. This should be your goal for every mission cleared.
No Damage + x2.0 = This will double your score likely resulting in a S-Rank.

S Rank Requirements (stylish points) for each difficulty:

Human - 4,000
Devil Hunter - 5,000
Son Of Sparda - 5,500
Dante Must Die - 6,000
Heaven And Hell - 1,500
Hell And Hell - 5,500

S Rated Combo (Nero) Hard

Charge Blue Rose while performing. Red Queen Combo C (don't finish last hit) + Lift enemy + 2 hit aerial combo + Calibur + Snatch + Devil Bringer/Buster + Shoot LVL.3 Charged Shot Blue Rose + Snatch again + Enemy Step + Air Taunt. Enemy should explode. Snatch again + Shuffle + Snatch + Calibur + Snatch + Devil Buster.

break break or + (In air) + (release hold on shoot button) break taunt break +

You can change it up to whatever you prefer. Also, exceed while you do this for more stylish points added.

S Rated Combo (Dante) Easy-Medium

Weapon: Balrog + Dr. Faust. Use Faust Weapon's: Man In The Red move while performing combos. (Blow mode) attack all the way to Ignition 3. Switch Mode to (Kick Mode) and attack with Kick Combo A or B. Switch Back to (Blow mode) and use Flying Dragon for the finish.

+ ... (5x) + ... (3x) ... +

S Rated Combo (V) Easy

In Auto-Assist mode, spam and

If Nightmare is out, your rating will increase much quicker.

Tips for styling missions on HaH difficulty (works on other difficulties as well).

  • First, and obviously, the endless Hell Trigger will have to be disabled. The penalty will be x0.20 of the maximum possible score, and this automatically sends S-rank to hell.
  • One of the best ways to get the coveted S-ki on the results screen is to not receive damage at all. For each mission in total, you are awarded a x3.20 bonus to your score (the “no damage” and “no deaths” bonuses are x2.0 and x1.20, respectively). You don’t have to bother with fights and don’t get a style for fights at all, you are still guaranteed to get an S-rank for the mission because of the x3.20 bonus.
  • Using an auto combo also takes 20% off your score, and overall won't help you much, so don't try too hard with it.
  • Another recommendation when playing as Nero is to use Ragtime Scourges. Before the mission, we fill all 8 slots with Ragtimes; when they explode, they greatly slow down everyone around for a couple of seconds.
On the mission selection screen, you can monitor your progress in obtaining S-ranks.

I registered specifically so that people would not be misled.
If you spend golden spheres on HAH difficulty, then it is impossible to achieve rank S, because the multiplier becomes 0.5

For difficulties where there are checkpoints, if you get a high style, then you don’t have to complete without taking damage, the multiplier from no continues is enough. So this is the advice, if you are killed, do not click continue and especially do not use revives. Simply exit the level to the menu and start at the checkpoint. This is not penalized and the 1.2 multiplier does not disappear

By k1r1llka on 17 Mar 2019 23:12
You can make a mistake 2 times on Hell and Hell (lose 2 gold orbs per mission), there is no penalty for this and S is quite achievable. But if you lose all 3, you will be given a 10% fine, which in principle is not much, but is critical if you have a shortage of points.

Dying and loading checkpoints, much less using suits with an endless Devil Trigger, are naturally not allowed.

A small addition to the tip from user Antoska44. In the video, Virgil walks from side to side for quite a long time, giving Faust's attack time to build up. He didn’t allow me that luxury. If your Virgil also thinks faster and shoots daggers for a short time, then try first hitting him a couple of times and throwing him into the air. As soon as you throw it in, immediately start accumulating Faustian energy. While Virgil lands, retreats and starts shooting daggers, you should have time to accumulate maximum energy and smear him. Well, don’t forget to turn on your DT to shoot his daggers automatically.

About whether it is possible to spend golden spheres on Hell and Hell. For rank S you need to score 5500 style in total. After spending one or two spheres, you will not receive bonuses, but there will be no penalty either. That is, if after battles you get more than 5500 style, then you can spend two spheres and gain S rank. However, after spending all three, there will be a penalty of 0.5 and you will have to start over.

Provocations (especially for 3 million orb) greatly increase rating points. Use it whenever possible (being at different levels with opponents, knocking opponents to the floor, while opponents are blocking). For Dante, his rating increases well by constantly changing weapons.

In missions for V, don’t be afraid to turn on auto combos; this will make it very easy to get No damage, and in general, bosses will fly away only this way. I recommend completing missions for Dante, especially on DMD and HAH, with Faust and Cerberus for Fury. To get the coveted S in mission 8, I recommend using air cancel in each new skirmish to immediately gain B rank.

For V and Dante, take no damage at all. It's not difficult and S will be 100%. If we received damage, we’ll restart from the checkpoint (you’ll have to redo the lvl in Hell and Hell again). V - auto combo and camera lapel, Dante - Faust.

As Nero, if you take damage, try to alternate and don’t be afraid to use the ultimate abilities of your prosthetics. A strong boost is provided by using Confrontation under Ragtime on a crowd of enemies, or on a strong mob, as well as using a charged Bouncer on mobs with high HP. If you don’t take damage, then at least shoot everyone with a pistol, you’ll get S rank

It is generally believed that the main blocker for this trophy is completing it on Hell And Hell difficulty. However, Dante Must Die presents a much greater challenge and a sea of frustration. The only way to get S-ranks on it and not be covered with gray hair from head to toe is to actively use checkpoints (you need to restart the game every time you get injured). And even then, playing in this mode is very annoying. Hell And Hell builds on the well-balanced and generally enjoyable Son of Sparda mode, with two innovations - no HP and no checkpoints. Thus, there are only three attempts for each level. However, if you reset the cutscenes (and since you're playing on this difficulty, you've already beaten the game several times and you don't need the story), then no mission lasts longer than 15 minutes. And replaying the last 15 minutes is not a terrible task.
In general, everything is relatively simple:
For Nero, I recommend keeping your distance from enemies when possible and using firearms more actively. The prosthesis should be used almost always and everywhere Gerbera (it helps to quickly dodge any attacks). There is one exception - the 8th mission. There is Fury there, Ragtime is effective against them. It is better to exclude Jump Cancel from your arsenal, because... This tactic is extremely risky and requires great skill in character control.
For V, I recommend turning on auto mode. All that is required of you is to avoid contact with enemies, the beasts will do the rest. Yes, there is a penalty for using it when calculating points, but V generates enough points for the mission that this penalty cannot interfere with S-rank. Just remember to turn off auto mode when switching to missions of other characters.
For Dante, I recommend using Dr Faust 95% of the time. The main thing is to stock up on red orbs - it will take a huge amount of them to complete Dante’s missions.
In this playlist I go through all the S-rank missions in Hell and Hell mode. Here you can clearly see the application of the tactics described above for all characters.
