Achievement pops after you hire a Barbarian as a mercenary in Act 5. You unlock this option by completing Quest 2 in Act 5.
CAUTION - As you are going for these achievements make sure to remove any gear you don't want to lose from your current mercenary. You will lose it when you hire a new one.

shits broken.... no option to hire barb. even after all quests beat. online says you have to have LoD edition but WTF?!

Are you in Act 5? That area is the expansion town so if you made a non expansion character it won’t be available afaik
