How to unlock the Azmodone achievement in Diablo III - Definitive Guide
There are four challenges to complete. They don't have to be done all a once. You can check your progress in the challenges menu by pressing start.
These can be completed co-op and your partner does not have to fulfill the requirements. Thus, it is possible to have a powerful ally actually kill Azmodan while you do nothing but ensure the challenge requirements are fulfilled.
Challenge 1: No Reinforcements
Hell difficulty. Destroy the Demon Gates before any adds spawn from them. Be quick on your feet to kill these. If you have enough damage, you will kill them in time. It's best to couple this with Challenge 4. I included a video below.
Challenge 2: Hot Foot
Hell difficulty. Kill Azmodan without walking over bloody demonic ground. This is not easy.
It's best to do it co-op. Azmodan will prefer to target someone who is farther away. Thus, the person going for the challenge should stand in melee range of Azmodan and the other should be at range running making sure they don't die to the bloody demonic ground.
To do it solo, really the ONLY way to do it is to simply burn Azmodan down. Get him to about 70% and then pop our cooldowns and blow him up. If you have enough gear, you can do it. It's not possible to actually avoid the damage solo.
Challenge 3: Be Cool
Hell difficulty. Kill Azmodan without getting hit by his fireball. I've included a video below. Simply watch for the attack and avoid it.
Challenge 4: Azmodan Adds
Hell difficulty. Defeat Azmodan without killing any of his minions during the fight. This does not include Demon Gates. If some enemies do spawn, just make sure you do not kill them.
Eliminate the Act III final boss - Azmodan - while accomplishing certain tasks during the fight. They can be done over as many playthroughs as you want.
No Reinforcements - Destroy the Demon Gates before any Demon Troopers can spawn while fighting Azmodan on Hell difficulty or higher
The demon gates are the pillar-type objects that appear during the fight, and you must quickly destroy them before any enemies spawn from them.
Hot Foot - Kill Azmodan without walking over the bloody demonic ground on Hell difficulty or higher
The bloody demonic ground will slowly grow from the outside ring of the arena you fight Azmodan in (primarily, directly behind where he starts out), so either beat Azmodan before it becomes a problem, or keep moving Azmodan toward the middle of the arena.
Be Cool - Kill Azmodan without getting hit by a fireball on Hell difficulty or higher
Azmodan will occasionally launch huge, slowing moving (but heat-seeking) fireballs at you that you must run from to avoid. These are generally easy to dodge as a ranged class, given the increased distance between you and where they appear, giving you a bit more time to react.
Azmodan Adds - Kill Azmodan without killing any of his minions on Hell difficulty or higher
This will need to either be done alongside No Reinforcements, or if you fail, you must simply ignore the add(s) for the duration of the fight and damage only Azmodan.
1) Without reinforcements (During the battle with Azmodan at the “Hell” difficulty level or higher, destroy the demonic gates before the demon soldiers appear) - Based on the description, everything is clear, we destroy the gates before the mobs, namely the demon soldiers, come running.
2) Hot on the heels (Kill Azmodan without setting foot in the land of demons on Hell difficulty or higher) - I'll explain! The land of demons is a huge black puddle that the boss leaves, they grow and therefore, when you step into it, you take damage, but they can be avoided by trying to quickly destroy the boss because every minute he increases the number of such attacks.
3) Don't get excited (Kill Azmodan without getting hit by a fireball, on Hell difficulty or higher) - Avoid meteors, tactics are the same as in the test with Belial's fists.
4) Azmodan’s assistants (Kill Azmodan without killing his minions, on the “Hell” difficulty level or higher) - Here we just don’t offend any of the minions until we see that the boss is dead.
