I have never even died to this boss so I wouldnt even be afraid of him.
The most important thing to worry about is the fire that will rise up on the ground if you are on it when it hits. Its easy to tell though when it happens because the ground will start to light up, just run away from it and go somewhere it wont hit.
Also there are 2 healing wells on the northwest and northeast corners these can be very helpful. Other than constantly hitting him there really is no technique, unless you want him to charge a wall and hit him, wall charging makes him stunned for 2 seconds.

You will need to kill the Act I Boss, The Butcher, at least once over your four playthroughs (on Normal and Inferno), to get these two achievements. Complete the following challenges while fighting him to get the Fresh Meat achievement.
Nightmare+:
Stunning Reversal - Kill the Butcher while he is stunned by his own charge attack on Nightmare difficulty or higher
Hell+:
Don't Stand in the Fire - Kill the Butcher without being burned by floor fires or being grabbed by Ancient Spear on Hell Difficulty or Higher
Inferno:
A Brief Butchering - Kill the Butcher in under 2 minutes on Inferno difficulty
