How to unlock the Diabolical achievement in Diablo III - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you must complete these three challenges

Uncaged - Kill Diablo without getting trapped in a spike trap and without dying on Hell difficulty or higher
While fighting Diablo will sometimes have glowing hands where it looks like a spell is going to be casted after a try or two you will recognise when it is about to happen which is your queue to roll or run out of the way. This can be tricky to dodge, and may take some practice, but having co-op allies to help distract or stun her can beneficial.
I did this several times and it wouldn't give it to me then I tried getting rid of my follower as they get caught in a spike trap on the way to diablo so think you need to go there solo

Self Sufficient - Kill Diablo without using any health globes or healing wells on Nightmare difficulty or higher
There are some healing wells located in the main boss room, and Diablo and the shadow clone will also drop health globes from time to time during the fight - avoid both. You can still use potions if needed but if its set to easy you shouldn't need to. You will also need to swap out any armour or items that pick up gold/health from a distance as you will pick the orbs up without even realising. As pointed out by N3m3si5 you can use health potions

There Can Be Only One - Fight and kill 5 clones of yourself in Diablo's Realm of Terror on Hell difficulty or higher
During the 2nd , you will be in a shadow-world where you must fight a shadow Diablo and clones of yourself this will need a couple of attempts, as you will only fight 3-4 per boss fight but they do accumulate over so just go back through quest select and kill more

Key to remove any gear that increases pickup range. Had to redo fight twice before giving in and changing gear so I could stop picking up health globes by accident.

Thanks for pointing out that for There Can Be Only One it was cumulative. I was running around not fighting Shadow Diablo hoping he would spawn more clones of my character.

To get Self Sufficient, have a friend or two in co-op do the fight for you. You take off all of your armor and you will die in about 1 hit. Just stay dead the whole fight and you will get the challenge when your friends kill Diablo.

They can heal and pickup orbs all they want, as long as you do not heal. You can't heal if you are dead!

Not a solution so much as a note for Monk users. Summon your spirit ally and let it do all the killing. It won't pick up orbs, so all you have to do is stay out of the way.

Actually, for all monk players, this is THE solution. Just remove your pickup radius gear and let the spirit do the actual killing. Very quick and easy!

This worked perfectly, first time. Played on Nightmare/Easy and my ally killed Diablo in no time. I just ran around the edges to make sure i didnt pick up any globes.

Just giving a tip for getting Self Sufficient those playing as a barbarian and maybe others but I'm not sure about their move sets so can't say for sure,

Do it on Nightmare and Easy, as said by others unequip stuff that increases pick up range but for this it should not matter, the fight will be over in seconds, the part that was giving me issues was the section in the shadow realm where Diablo summons clones of you, as a Barbarian ir was very difficult to kill them and not pick up the orbs they drop.

Here is what to do, equip the ground stomp skill (X button) and as soon as you gain control in the shadow realm nail diablo with it before he vanishes, this will stunn him and allow you to kill him before he can summon the clones!!!!!!

If others classes have a similar move that stuns then it might work for them too, but as I said I haven't played them yet so can't say for sure if they do.

Nice tip about the stun, thanks. I did this with my mage. Wave of force is an AOE knockback stun so I was able to kill shadow Diablo before summoning clones. And then with regular Diablo, I used Ray of Frost to kill him at range.

Self sufficient tip to make it easy :

Nightmare mode on easy, remove any gear with pickup range.

I removed most of my legendaries, including pants, helm, gloves and boots. I pretty much did it naked bar weapons.

Now, real easy and simple. Use skills and meeee attacks, but after every melee swing, just roll away from diablo or the clones and you won't get the health orb.

I still killed him real quick, and had rend with the healing rune just in case (wasn't needed).

Basically, melee then roll, melee then roll etc. as the boss is only low level if your 60, makes it a cakewalk!

Eliminate the Act IV final boss - Diablo - while accomplishing certain tasks during the fight. They can be done over as many playthroughs as you want.

Uncaged - Kill Diablo without getting trapped in a spike trap and without dying on Hell difficulty or higher
While fighting Diablo, she will sometimes have glowing hands where it looks like she is casting a spell, which is your queue to roooooolllll the hell out of the way. This can be very tricky to dodge, and may take some practice, but having allies to help distract or stun her can beneficial.

Self Sufficient - Kill Diablo without using any health globes or healing wells on Nightmare difficulty or higher
There are a couple of healing wells located in the main boss room, and she will also drop health globes from time to time during the fight - avoid both. You can still use potions and Monks heal spell if needed. This is another example where a coop team to speed things up can make life easier, so long as they also know to not pick up any orbs (which will also heal you).

There Can Be Only One - Fight and kill 5 clones of yourself in Diablo's Realm of Terror on Hell difficulty or higher
During the 2nd rotating phase, you will be in a shadow-world where you must fight clones of yourself, and also deal with Diablo when she appears. This will take a couple of attempts, as you will only see 3 or 4 of your clones.

Diablo related challenges:

1) Cage doesn't suit me (Kill Diablo without falling into a spike trap on Hell difficulty or higher) - Diablo in phase 3 (this is after his shadow is destroyed) uses another attack, namely Cage. Cells appear from the ground and stop you, thanks to which Diablo will run up to you and cause a lot of damage, so we run and chase the boss, not forgetting that we need to beat him.

2) Only one will remain (Find and destroy five copies of yourself in the Realm of Terror of Diablo on the Hell difficulty level or higher) - If you try hard, you can do this in one go, but this is NOT MANDATORY. Since this test is cumulative. In phase 2 (where Shadow Diablo is), your shadow copies will periodically appear, so you need to destroy them.

3) Jars - for the weak (Kill Diablo on Nightmare difficulty or higher without using health orbs or healing wells) - Before the battle, you need to remove all things that increase the radius of picking up health orbs. During the battle, you cannot hit Diablo close, otherwise the health sphere that appears from him will be taken automatically. Health spheres also drop from shadow copies of the hero, so you need to complete this achievement only with hero classes with a ranged attack, so that shadows with a melee attack do not appear. Before the battle, it is better to configure your skills so that you have something to restore your health.

If you play as a melee class, and don’t want to upgrade a new character for the “cans for weaklings” test, then find any game on the desired difficulty with the task of killing Diablo, and run away from the general action while he is being killed, and under no circumstances kill your doubles in stage 2, spheres fall from them!

"Banks are for weaklings" made me a barbarian. Just put “Spear of the Ancients” in your skills. and "Weapon Throw" and kill from a distance. I made the trophy on a nightmare, the hell had already been passed by that time, that is, the DPS was at a decent level.

With the “join someone else’s game and stay away” option, it’s difficult to get a trophy. If you connect to someone else’s game, then in the second stage of the battle, as a rule, the “double” inflicts damage on you, and our opponents often throw life restoration at the entire group and, accordingly, we replenish the level of life.

It’s easier to take off the gear that helps you pick up cans from a machine from a greater distance, and instead buy it or create gear that will be without this property + set all the skills of the barbarian in such a way that the damage increases even more. As a result, we will get a strong barbarian who will not be able to grab the can from under Diablo’s feet

I would like to add something, the test “Cans for weaklings” is easy to pass by the Barbarian, for this test we simply select the type of attack “Crushing Blow”, aka bash and put the “Crush” rune, as a result of which the barbarian has an average attack distance, which removing all objects that attract health spheres is enough to complete the test.

To be extra sure, we select “Hell” and “low difficulty” so as not to give a damn about Diablo’s attacks.
