How to unlock the Out of the Shadows achievement in Diablo III - Definitive Guide

To get this achievement you will need to complete these 4 challenges

Good Eye - Kill Belial without dying and without getting hit by his projectile or meteor attacks
During the part of the fight with the giant Belial he will try to hit you with his arm, fire lightning bolts at you, and spit bad breath at you. Most of the fight will be spent avoiding the green circles that appear on the ground that signal where he is about to hit with one of his attacks you will also want to try and avoid his breath attack by moving to his far left or right side to have the greatest chance of survival

Fist Missed - Kill Belial without getting hit by his fist attack
During the Giant Belial part of the fight green flashing/pulsing circles will appear on the ground to signal where he is about to hit his fist into the ground. just stay clear of these circles to avoid getting hit by the fist attack

Why'd it Have to Be Snakes? - Kill 10 Veiled Sentinels in the first 30 seconds of starting the fight with Belial on Nightmare difficulty or higher
The Veiled Sentinels are the snake like enemies you fight at the beginning before you fight Belial. To complete this challenge, just kill at least 10 as quick as you can as soon as the fight starts which should not really be a problem as I got this one without even trying

Bad Breath - Kill Belial without getting hit by his breath attack on Inferno difficulty
During the giant Belial fight, he will lean backwards now and again to spit a green breath at you in a cone shape across the fight area, this means you will need to be at his left or right when he does this and get to the edge of the screen to have the greatest chance of avoiding it. There is still a chance that he get you with it so you might have to have a couple of tries but obviously as I found out this is much better to do on easy and because its fairly easy to kill him before he even gets a chance to do it. This also applies for all the challenges
To fight Belial you can load the last checkpoint on act 2 ( lord of lies )

The best way to complete the "Bad Breath" challenge is to use a wizard and the "Diamond Skin" capacity. If you get hit by his breath attack, damages are absorbed :)

If you want to get the challenge "Bad Breath" done quicker, just set the difficulty mode to Easy and either fight him with your best gear and skills at the highest level possible or bring some friends with you. Using the Barbarian, I was able to destroy him pretty fast by using skills such as Earthquake. He never got around to using his Bad Breath attack and I killed two birds with one stone by beating him on Inferno and completing his challenges, thus earning the killing Belial on Inferno achievement and now this one. :)

I got the bad breath achievement with the monk by staying in the right hand corner near him, continually hitting him, and as soon as he leans back to spew I used Serenity skill with Instant Karma. Although I was hit I didn't take damage & the achievement popped :)

If your playing as a wizard - regarding challenge 4 'bad breath' use diamond skin skill.

when he uses bad breath, just as its coming towards you press the x button and this will shield you from any damage

hope this helps

Another Bad Breath advice: If you play the Witch Doctor, use Spirit Walk when you're about to get hit with Belial's breath to walk through it unharmed. It helps if you also enable the enhancement that prolongs Spirit Walk just in case you need it.

As a barbarian, ignore pain helps. It's not a 100% guarantee as the skill itself says that there's a chance to avoid damage, but at least as a barbarian also have you have a chance.

If you have enough damage output, though, you could just select Avatar and wail on Belial as fast as you can and kill him before he gets to the breath stage.

Eliminate the Act II final boss - Belial - while accomplishing certain tasks during the fight. They can be done over as many playthroughs as you want.

Good Eye - Kill Belial without dying and without getting hit by his projectile or meteor attacks
During the phase against giant Belial (with the green background) he will try to smash you with his arm, shoot lightning bolts at you, and spew nasty stuff at you. Most of the fight will be spent avoid green circles that appear on the ground that signify where he is about to hit with one of his attacks, and you will also want to avoid his spew attack by moving to his far left or right side to have the highest chance of survival (this can be death at higher levels).

Fist Missed - Kill Belial without getting hit by his fist attack
During the Giant Belial phase, single green pulsating circles will appear on the ground to signify where the boss is about to smash his fist into the ground. Simply avoid these circles to avoid getting hit, and to complete the challenge.

Why'd it Have to Be Snakes? - Kill 10 Veiled Sentinels in the first 30 seconds of starting the fight with Belial on Nightmare difficulty or higher
The Veiled Sentinels are the Serpent enemies you fight at different parts of the fight. To complete this challenge, go all-out as soon as the fight starts to kill at least 10 of the first group of Sentinels that spawn.

Bad Breath - Kill Belial without getting hit by his breath attack on Inferno difficulty
During the giant Belial fight, he will occasionally rear back to spew a green smog at you that hits a cone of about 165 degrees, meaning you will want to be at his absolute left or right when he does this to have the best chance of avoiding it. There is still the offchance that he will lean a bit more toward your direction, meaning you get hit anyway, but this is your best chance.

This trophy is awarded for completing all of the Belial challenges. In total there are four challenges (listed below - this cannot be completed until Inferno mode has been unlocked) All of these challenges can be checked on the start Menu under "Challenges - Triumphs (north-east icon)

Location: Act 2 - Lord of Lies - Begin Quest

Challenge #1 - Good Eye
Kill Belial without dying and without getting hit by his projectile or meteor attacks

This can be done on any difficulty. Throughout the fight Belial will be attacking you with various projectiles and meteor attacks. The meteors are fairly simple to avoid as they will have a green circle appear on the ground before they hit. Move away from these immediately to complete the challenge.

Challenge #2 - Why'd It Have to Be Snakes?
Kill 10 Veiled Sentinels in the first 30 seconds of starting the fight with Belial in Nightmare mode or higher.

At the start of the fight with Belial he will summon a small army of the snake creatures you have been fighting this act. The objective of this challenge is to kill 10 within 30 seconds. Use all of your area of effect, or channelled abilities to get this challenge. You should be able to complete this one with ease as long as you have half decent gear.

Challenge #3 - Fist Missed
Kill Belial without getting hit by his fist attack.

This can be completed on any difficulty. Similar to the "Good Eye" challenge, you must avoid another of Belial's signature attacks. He will raise his fist just before he punches the ground so make sure to roll/teleport/vault out of the way to ensure you don't get hit.

Challenge #4 - Bad Breath
Kill Belial without getting hit by his breath attack in Inferno mode.

Possibly the most difficult out of the Belial challenges. During the fight he will do a breath attack that is very difficult to avoid. The way you do this is to "hug" the right or left side of the battle area. There is still a chance that it will hit you there but unless you are a specific class (see below) this is the only way of getting this challenge.
Alternatively you can wait until you outgear him, which should happen by the time you kill Diablo on Inferno difficulty, and kill him before he has chance to use his breath attack.

Witch Doctor - As a Witch Doctor you can use your "spirit walk" ability when Belial uses his breath attack to avoid any damage and still get the challenge completed.
Wizard - As a Wizard you can use your "Diamond Skin" ability to avoid any damage done by Belial's breath and still get the challenge completed.

If this guide could be made any better please PM me or comment here and I will make any necessary changes.

Challenges associated with Belial:

1) Eye test (Kill Belial without taking damage from his meteorites and shots) - It's simple. We avoid his attacks from the air. If it doesn’t work out as you progress, then go to the Normal difficulty level and there you will easily cope with this test.

2) Why are there always snakes?! (Kill 10 hidden sentries within 30 seconds of the start of the battle with Belial on Nightmare difficulty or higher) - As soon as you see the small cutscene in which Belial appears, snake mobs begin to come from everywhere, so we try to destroy these 10 of them in 30 seconds.

3) Keep your fists to yourself (Kill Belial without taking damage from a fist attack) - Belial, having taken on his second form, will deal a lot of attacks with his huge hands, but these attacks can be predicted in advance, because a shadow will be visible on the floor, which shows us where Belial will hit.

4) Bad Breath (Kill Belial on Inferno difficulty without being affected by his breath) - For me, this was the most difficult challenge, not only among all the challenges of this boss, but among all. Since I did not have time to avoid his breathing. But you can dodge bad breath with special spells. Playing as a sorcerer, we use the “walk of the spirit.” Playing as a demon hunter, we use a “smoke screen” or “somersault”.

Everything is actually easier than you think.

1) We take a very dressed Persian (I think on the way to the gold trophy there should be no problems with this)
2) Set the difficulty to Nightmare (Easy)
3)????
4) And not two seconds have passed when the boss is simply dying... uh, I mean PROFIT!!!111

Don't worry too much about Belial's challenges, especially Bad Breath, even on Inferno you can get all 4 challenges at once. The main thing is to play with other players. If you are well dressed, then you can kill Belial in a matter of seconds, he won’t even have time to “breathe” on you. Just after the start of the 3rd phase of the battle (the 1st is snakes, the 2nd is small Belial, the 3rd is a huge Belial) run away from your partners, it is best to press yourself to the edge of the platform “behind Belial’s hands” and hit him from there.

The sorcerer's diamond skin helps him avoid White's foul breath.
