How to unlock the The Elitist achievement in Diablo III - Definitive Guide
This achievement will come naturally by playing through the game. It popped for me in Nightmare act 2, and I blitzed straight through the game. If you're thorough, you could easily get this in normal difficulty.
Just posting this solution for anyone who is curious if this is a grind to complete. It's not =)

Christ, popped for me at the start of act 3 on normal. I even have like 40 treasure goblin kills already. I'm getting insanely lucky. +1 either way.

I am at the start of Act 3 (haven't finished lighting all the fires yet) and I've got 368 of the 500 kills necessary. I'm also playing on normal so I'm pretty sure I'll get this cheevo way before the end of my first walkthrough. Thumbs up!!!

Elites are the enemies with colored names and will generally come with special abilities, such as increased speed or damage, and are considerably more powerful than their standard-version brothers. They are found quite frequently, so it will only take time to kill 500 of these bad boys, and they do become increasingly difficult as you progress through the higher difficulties, with elites in each new mode having access to more powers (ex. an elite on Normal could have a speed boost, while the same elite on Nightmare can have a speed boost and a damage boost). You should be able to get this around level 30.

You need to kill special mobs. Their names are highlighted in different colors. You need: blue (usually they go in groups of 3), yellow (they go with several minions who copy their abilities), purple (just alone; sometimes they are easier than others, but the drop from them is weaker)
