How to unlock the Army of Bones achievement in Diablo IV - Definitive Guide

**You do not need to wait for you current Skeletons to die to summon more**

Very straight forward achievement after you kill enemy's as a Necromancer you will see glowing red piles of Flesh and bone on the ground. Just keep spamming Raise Skeleton on all the piles you see and this will pop in no time.
**The spam Raise Skeleton may have been hotfixed by blizzard**

**Edit*If for whatever reason spamming Raise Skeleton dont unlock it you can force kill your Warriors by going to the book of the dead and choosing to sacrafice your warriors/mages.

This may have been hotfixed as it appears spamming Raise Skeleton on the flesh piles no longer counts toward the achievement, as those are technically Skeleton Priests and not Warriors/Mages.

Agree with comment regarding hot fix. Just started a necro, spamming it, and I’ve done well over 100, No cheevo.

Maybe go into the book, sacrifice your current skeletons, then go into battle and raise more… might be the quickest way now.

this one may be a bit buggy. Had done way over 100 and had not unlocked but just signed back in today and unlocked at the load screen.

You can also just choose a different upgrade to destroy your skeletons. If you choose the sacrifice option it also removes your Raise Skeleton spell and you'll have to reassign it everytime. Spamming didn't work for me but choosing a different upgrade to destroy my skeletons then summoning new, rinse and repeat, and the achievement popped.

After spamming for a long time, i ended up changing upgrade two more times and it triggered the achievement as my skeletons died from changing.

Yeah not sure what the deal with this is because it seems like you spamming it only partially works

Seems as though the tracking for this is a little wonky

You have to sacrifice your skeletons and resurrect new ones. I unlocked it after 10 minutes

After I sacrificed them, I lose the ability to raise them. How to effectively farm this achievement?

I eventually got it when I kept dying at a boss, went back in and they were automatically raised once the boss appeared. Achievement popped during the auto raise

The method that I used that I think helps speed up the process is when in your Book of the Dead, instead of selecting "Sacrifice", simply switch between the 2 upgrades. Doing so will cause existing ones to die and you can summon new ones. I think if you try to summon more while you have the maximum amount, it actually heals them instead of replacing them.

If you are trying to grind this achievement out quickly, this can be done before the end of the dungeon they send you to in the tutorial for the campaign. Start a new Necromancer character and you start with the raise skeleton skill assigned to cn_X. As soon as you kill anything with cn_A it glows as a red pile and you can use the raise skeleton skill to turn the pile into a skeleton buddy. You can have a maximum of 4 of these friends at the beginning, but instead of waiting for them to get killed, the best way would be to unassign the raise skeleton skill. Go to the abilities tab (cn_start then cn_RB) and click in the left stick cn_LS. Hover over the raise skeleton skill and unassign it. It will kill your skeletons. Assign it again and go find more red piles to resurrect.

I got this during the first boss battle in the prologue, I kept dying and respawning just outside the boss area, ran back in and 4 skeletons automatically summoned. Simply repeated dying and running back in and it eventually popped.

If the skeletons die during the battle you can also summon some more if there are any bodies on the floor.

I was also spamming Y on my way through the dungeon (even though that had been hotfixed) as some people believed it still added progress for them.

One of the abilities that you start out with as a Necromancer is the ability to raise the dead. Once you’ve killed an enemy, hit button-y.png to raise a Skeleton Mage from the corpse of a dead enemy. Do that 100 times and this achievement is yours.

This one might actually take a while, especially if you're doing this on a new class and not your main, as the Skeletons have to die for you to resummon one. If you want to force it, try visiting a Stronghold or getting to a few boss fights at the end of a dungeon or two, as soon as you get into the open-world and after you’ve been to Kyovashad.

Or, you can do what we did. When you get to level 5 as a Necromancer you can choose to sacrifice your skeletons in the Book of the Dead, meaning you can kill some new enemies and summon new ones. So, what you want to do is choose sacrifice and then change it to one of the other abilities straight after. This will kill all your skeletons meaning you have to raise some new ones from the dead. Sure, you will have to constantly keep assigning the raise from the dead spell in the shortcut screen (clicking in the left thumbstick while in the abilities screen), but if you’re in a rush and this isn’t your main character, do this.

At the beginning of the game you can only summon 4 skeletons. After this, skeleton spirits are summoned - they do not count. At the fifth level, the book of the dead will open and in it you select another summoning property - all skeletons crumble. You can invite new ones.
That is, they cleared a clearing with enemies - they threw off the old ones - they called in new ones from the corpses.
