How to unlock the Estuar Sightseer achievement in Diablo IV - Definitive Guide

Thanks to @Gixore for finding a solution after the S1 update.
--------------------------------------

If you play on PC and on Xbox, you already have the map revealed on a character and on Hardcore, this achievement is (as far as I know) unobtainable. Your Battle.net account is linked to your email address (same as your xbox email address). If you unlink the account, you cannot link THAT battle.net account to any xbox account for a year.

I made a second battle.net account. (NOTE: You cannot link 2 battle.net accounts to 1 Xbox account). On the website of battle.net you can add your xbox account. First I did link my google account to the second battle.net account. I did this so it will search for my xbox account that is also linked with my outlook email address. Once the google account is linked on the second battle.net account, you will add your Xbox account.

*This will unlink your previous link if you already played the game on Xbox. So make sure you have all the achievements already. You cannot switch back as it has a 1 year cooldown.

--------------------------------------
Original solution:

So this achievement is for exploring the whole map.

This one is pretty big undertaking as there is no way to track which regions you have found and which you haven't. The easiest way that I was able to finish this was to go to any area that looked blank within the map and go there. Once you discover the region then it will be more detailed on the map instead of having a generic "fog" over it.

I would say don't attempt to get this till after getting the mount (pretty late in the story) as it will make it go much faster then walking to each place.

@jupitersailfish Agreed they could have done something different with the fog to make it easier to notice. Congrats on doing the pvp area's. I am scared to do them on HC as everyone says that even if you don't flag yourself that you can get killed.

You can track areas via the Region Progress menu. It will show how many places you are missing.

@cosm1c Joker yes it will tell you how many you are missing but it won't specifically tell you the name of the area you are missing.

Just because the fog is removed, does not necesarily mean that you have that area of the map checked off. They really needed to have made the areas you have been to much more obvioius. I have the entire map with no remaining white fog, and I still have 4 locations to discover. I can see the obvious outline of Hope's Light at the top of the map, and so I went up there and it was the last area in this section, but I could already see it. This is soooo frustrating.

I used this for the last few places in Kehjistan. I was missing the 2 headlands jutting into the sea. Just filter the map for hide all and then choose area.

Challenge popped in game and I have the title but of course I got no fucking achievement did I!!!!!

OK, figured out all 4 of the missing (non-fogged locations). I received completed challenge reward in the game, but the achievment did not unlock. Has this happened with anyone else?

@justGOTwicked glad to hear that it worked for you.

I can also understand the frustration about how they did the map. It could have been done a lot better in regards to the fog.

@justGOTwicked Phew is right tried it there and it popped.

I normally fully quit out of my game but I'd used quick resume that time so that might have been the issue.

I got the completed challenge but not the xbox goal.. searching the net it seems it could be the fault of having played both on pc and xbox.. has anyone happened to it?
Do you think that exploring the whole map from xbox even with the challenge already unlocked could solve it? I'm looking for advice

If the challenge is what triggers the unlock then the only way to reset that would be to 100% delete all your save data.

I made sure to finish the challenge while playing on Xbox, but the achievement didn't pop for me. not fun.

Well if you aim to do the level 50 hardcore character achievement then I would suggest doing the map on that character as well. If you finish the campaign and then do this achievement it isn't that bad because you just ride around on your mount.

it's a good idea but the risk of dying and starting over for the third time could be really frustrating XD

I mean you have to do Hardcore to 50 to 100% the game so might as well try.

as for the aberrant embers, I had collected some on pc and the rest on xbox.. when I reached 1000 he didn't give me the achievement but continuing to collect them he gave it to me after a while therefore the fact that the challenge is already out it shouldn't affect the result..it's like there's a separate counter in game that we don't see linked to xbox progress

This achievement can be bugged if you also play on pc. I have the in game completion but the achievement was not rewarded on completion. I finished exploring all zones on xbox. I was able to get after clearing the only zone i did on pc

OK. I made a new character and redid the whole map on Xbox only. it works, just popped for me. 👍

actually much easier doing it on a new character because you can be methodical about it and not have to search for those tiny areas that you missed when just playing normally.

Gone over the entire map on xbox but nothing....

Why would the not make unexplored area black or at least darker so it can be seen?

Didn’t bug out on me. I just checked the challenges and exploration section to see what regions I was missing. Then just checked online maps and compared it to mine to see what I was missing.

I agree that the fog disappearing from unexplored areas is very annoying. I was missing one area for a region and found if you drag the cursor in the map over roads/paths/areas it tells you (upper left corner) the region and subregion...AND SAYS UNEXPLORED on areas you didn't get (when the fog cleared).

With the new update is this unobtainable if you had already revealed the map on PC? I was going to do it again on console but now the map progress is transferred between ALL characters so nothing is greyed out.

Could you create a 2nd battle.net account and associate it with your xbox account? Then you'd have a blank map. There's one section of Caldeum that may stay inaccessible until after you beat the campaign, so you might have to full play the campaign on a new account, but it's a possible solution.

Whole map cleared, but no achievement. If I look at the regions, there is said to be one area missing, but the whole fog is gone and I have been running through the whole region - no chance. Very annoying bug.

I just got this today and my last location was Kehjistan and my missing location was not obvious. My advice to anyone having trouble is to place a marker so that the 'GPS line' appears where you think you may be missing a location. If you are missing anything that the line crosses through the fog will very obviously cover up the line. This is how I found my final location.

My issue is in Hawezar...Region Progress says 56/56 but if I go into the Exploration Challenge, it says it isn't complete. Frustrating. Now I will go over every inch of Hawezar to find it (unless there are common misses...lmk).

Good evening friends, my problem with this achievement is revealing all the fractured peaks areas. I've done it twice and I always stop in 74/76 areas. No fog appears in the area. Any suggestion?

Still this bug has not been resolved by blizzard, guessing it's a low priority to fix achievements. Bug happen on non-hardcore with all areas discovered which happened to be hawezer area with 56/56 and didn't pop the in-game challenge.

another saving grace to pop the achievement for those who haven't created a hardcore character, is to create a hardcore character and rediscover the bugged areas and that should also pop the achievement. (did work for me when hawezer was bugged for me)

for some reason the discovered areas are separate between non-hardcore and hardcore characters except for already completed challenges. idk if this would work in reverse. d4bad

I was 75/76 on Fractured Peaks and what popped it for me was a small, long section right southwest of Margave in the south. It looked like the region was all 'discovered' but that section sticking down is its own region (for some reason).

Has fractured peaks been updated to only have 75 areas to discover? I see everyone complaining about 75/76, but my map only shows 75 possible areas, and I just got all 75/75. The numbers light up green at the top and I even got the in-game challenge for discovering all of fractured peaks. Because others are saying they have 76 areas, I hope this doesn’t mess with the achievement once I go for the other map regions later on.

I just filled the map this evening and the achievement didn't pop.
Thankfully, I just had to log out of that character from the D4 menu, and load back into the same character again and *ping*

Same - 75/75 worked for me. I spent ages trying to find the last point in Fractured Peaks, eventually my last one was right under the south-east walls of Kyovashad. It's easy to miss!

just a note that sometimes the "fog" blends in perfectly with some of the tiny areas so if you are struggling (and you already have all of the above locations mentioned in the comments) you need to look up all the areas online and go to them one by one in whichever region you aren't 100% in

Interactive map of Fractured Peaks: https://game8.co/games/Diablo-4/archives/408518

For me, the missing spot was called Virtue's Point. Southwest of Margrave. It didn't look fogged out. The interactive map looked identical to the one on my game & I had to walk by the cellar in that tiny section for the achievement to pop.

Saw the game was having connection issues and I was still logged in so I ran through all the pvp areas and didn't see anyone kekw. I was lucky and had a lot of the map already discovered when I started this. Just have to look very carefully at the map and at the top of the map for the white crosshair looking symbol that tells you how many you have discovered in an area. I just started at one end and did a big circle discovering and then worked inward. I wish they made the fog and map more different.

this thing bothers me a lot also because redoing the whole map with another character doesn't guarantee that it will work... what gives me hope is the fact that with the "aberrant embers" I had the same problem.. and then it worked. . i collected some on pc and some on xbox .. and i completed the challenge on xbox but the achievement didn't arrive.. i continued collecting on xbox and got to about 1200 at some point it came out .. that's why i think that if I go through all the areas visited on pc playing on xbox it will probably come out.. the problem is knowing which ones they are.... and it takes a lot of time.

I was able to get the achievement by creating a hardcore character and just running through the area that didn't have the challenge done for exploring it. For me it was the Dry Steppes that the challenge didn't pop after my characters maps merged. It took about four Lvl 1 hardcore characters but once I discovered the last part everything popped. I will say that I also never started a hardcore character before this.

I just started the game and I immediately went to the create character screen. I'll let you know if the achievement will pop.

EDIT: Just got the achievement. This method works.

In order to get the Estuar Sightseer achievement, you’re going to have to unfog the whole map. In total there 306 different areas, with a breakdown as follows:
  • Fractured Peaks - 76
  • Scosglen - 70
  • Dry Steppes - 51
  • Kehjistan - 54
  • Hawezar - 56
There’s not really much to this achievement, it’s just a little time consuming, but it’s definitely worth it for a number of reasons. Sure, you get the achievement and are one step closer to the platinum, but also every area you discover will give you 5 renown towards your region progress. This is great because of the rewards it can offer, that include Skill Points, more health potion capacity, loads of gold and at the top tie, Paragon Points.

I’d wait until you get Diablo 4’s mount before you try this though, just to save you a lot of time running around at half the pace. Systematically work around a region at a time, add some waypoints into the fog, and then dash from fogged area to another - you may even encounter some Altars of Lilith along the way as you go!

You won't be able to get this before you complete the campaign though, as some of the locked areas for the final dungeon are fogged until you go there for the last quest.

You just need to open all areas on the map. The entire map is divided into the regions “Broken Peaks”, “Dry Steppes”, “Hawezar”, “Kejistan” and “Scosglen”. For convenience, open the map and click , there you can switch between regions and track how many areas are open.

In Kijistan I spent a long time searching for the last unexplored piece of land. And it turned out to be a small island at the bottom left of the map. You may also not notice the island that is located on top of Kijistan. These closed areas appear slightly differently on the map

You can simply move the cursor over the map and pay attention to the names of the areas; if the area is not open, then the name will say “Not explored,” which means you need to go there. It’s a little tedious, especially when there are 1-2 areas left, but it’s faster than just looking for it yourself.

If you skipped the campaign at the start of the new (currently fourth) season and you have 71/74 in Broken Heights, create a new hero and go through the first act of the story. During the passage, the missing locations will open and the trophy will drop out.

Text guide (en) with the location of all control points.
There is no need to run through the points, just point the cursor over the points as in the pictures and check the inscription at the top left whether it has been explored or not. Don't skip points that you might think have been explored. In the split peaks there are points that are the size of the cursor, that is, searching for fog no longer works. Therefore, check absolutely all points in the required regions.
A long time ago I caught a bug that I opened all the regions, but they didn’t give me a trophy. To do this, you need to create a hardcore character (heroic mode) and there the card will be discarded and a new one will be opened.
