Obviously there's not too much to say here in terms of HOW to do this, as it's pretty obvious, but because I got it VERY quickly, I thought I'd share a couple tips.
As my first ability I chose Forst Bolt to replace my base attack with the A button, so literally every kill I get is counting toward this achievement. I then upped that to Enhanced Frost Bolt on the next level.
Following that, I went into Chain Lightning which is what really speeds this up. Improving it to Enhanced and then Greater Chain Lightning had me frying damned near everything in my path pretty easily. Either a single cast of Chain Lightning would kill 3-4 smaller enemies, or I could bounce it back and forth off myself and whipe out a larger one in a cast or two.
With these two abilities I was able to pop this achievement at level 6 in less than 2 hours.

Like you say, it's straightforward.
Similar to kill 50 ranged and 50 up close enemies with a Rogue. Got that one is less than 30 mins of fighting enemies.

I just put my 8 skill points into lightning skill and killed every enemy I saw and got it at the first boss.

Probably the easiest out of the 5 character class achievements. But basically, when you level up, choose one of the elemental spells (doesn’t matter which, but we’d recommend Spark and Chain Lightning to get this easily). You can unlock both spells from the off if this is your second character and have been concentrating on the renown stuff elsewhere too. Just kill 100 enemies and you’ll unlock this achievement. I managed to unlock this before I even got to Kyovashad.
