How to unlock the Turning the Tides achievement in Diablo IV - Definitive Guide
Hey all,
To unlock this one, you need to finish the story first. Once you do that, complete the "story" dungeon to reach World T3.
When you are inside WT3, at random some areas will become Helltide for around 90 mins (hell minions will spawn there and the ground/vibe will become reddish).
Every enemy can drop Aberrant Cinder, from the weakest to the toughest ones. Also chests can drop some.
It took me around 2 hours to hit 1000 and you can do IN MULTIPLE SESSIONS, so don't worry if you enter a helltide zone with little time left.
My build wasn't perfect at all, with a perfect build it could be way less, it really depends on how fast you can cleave mobs. High tier builds probably can do in 1 hour.
To keep track you can check on your challenge list, the one called "Turning the tides", it shows how many you got out of 1000,
Happy hunting!

I beg to differ on the location of the Challenge for checking progress. For me, they are in the Exploration section under Helltide. There are three for progress: Infernal Loot for picking up 100 Cinders, Infernal Spoils for picking up 500, and Infernal Riches for 1000.

In order to unlock Helltide zones in Diablo 4 you need to do a few things:
This achievement requires you collect 1,000 Aberrant Cinders, which is the currency of Helltide zones. Enemies throughout the Helltide will drop them - not every enemy will though, however, the bigger they are, the more you’re likely to get.
Simply collect 1,000 and this achievement is yours.
A few things to keep in mind when going for this achievement:

- Firstly, you need to finish the main campaign.
- Then, you’ll need to finish the Cathedral of Light Capstone Dungeon.
- And finally, you’ll need to set the game to World Tier 3 at the monument in Kyovashad.

A few things to keep in mind when going for this achievement:
- The 1,000 is cumulative. You don’t need to get them in one Helltide, or have them all on your persons at once.
- You’ll lose half the Aberrant Cinders you’re holding when you die, however, they already count towards the count when you pick one up.
- You can keep track of how many you’ve picked up if you go into the main in-game menu, go to Collections, then go to Challenges, and then down to Exploration and then Helltide. The Infernal Loot challenge tracks where you are on your way to 1,000.
- You can also get Aberrant Cinders from Tortured Chests, from picking up Fiend Roses, from interacting with Screaming Hell Veins (which also drop Forgotten Souls for upgrading your equipment) and interacting with the environmental objects that glow red (like a red glowing Wretched Souls).

Performed in the “Onslaught” event, it appears on the map as a red sword in flames after completing the main story campaign. The event does not take place all the time and lasts 1 hour, the game announces the beginning, but it is easy to miss, so it is better to look at the map. The essence of the “onslaught” is to kill mobs and they will drop ash, for which chests will open in the same area. You need to collect 1000 of this ash (not at once).

Unlocks at World Level 3
It's called "Hell's Onslaught" and it's always available, on the map it's a red area on the map, the location changes every hour, you don't need to purposefully wait or search, it's always available
