How to unlock the The Inevitability of Rust achievement in Dicey Dungeons - Definitive Guide

The Inevitability of Rust is the 3rd Episode in the Inventors Timeline.

To unlock episodes, you must play a game with 5 different contestants. Here's how to unlock the first 5 contestants...

* Warrior: Unlocked by default
* Thief: Play The Warrior's Welcome (Episode 1 of Warrior)
* Robot: Play Thief in the Night (Episode 1 of Thief)
* Inventor: Play Rise of the Robot (Episode 1 of Robot)
* Witch: Play Enter the Inventor (Episode 1 of Inventor)

By 'play', I mean win or lose. Quitting to menu mid game doesn't work. Obviously the quickest way to do this is to start a game, don't hit your enemy and click next until they kill you.

As soon as you unlock Episodes, you can access Episode 2 and 3 of each character. You do not have to complete Episode 2 in order to play Episode 3.

THE INEVITABILITY OF RUST

Normally with the Inventor, she scraps a piece of equipment after every successful fight and turns it into a gadget. You can only have 1 gadget at a time so it keeps getting replaced. Because of this mechanic, the Inventor finds a lot more equipment than the other characters. The normal strategy with Inventor is to constantly juggle your deck to have enough damage/defense to beat enemies. You cannot get comfortable with a build because it's constantly changing. Some items will always be offered as scrap (the game tells you). A good tactic is to have a normal build, but keep putting 1 useless scrap item as tribute to protect the rest of your build. This isn't always possible, but fill up slots with stuff you want to get rid of.

This variant however, you don't scrap equipment and create gadgets after each fight. Instead, all equipment is reusable, but breaks after 4 uses. When they do break, it creates a gadget. Again, you can only have 1 gadget in play at a time, so it keeps getting replaced. You can see how many uses left by a dice picture on the top right of each equipment.

STRATEGY:

This is one of the harder variants in the game (for me). Obviously you'll want to maximize the value of each time you use equipment, but you will still probably run out of equipment. Here's a few pointers that I tried to follow...

* Save big damage cards until you really need it.
* Use bad cards to beat an enemy if you can get away with it. This saves the good cards for when you need it.
* You full heal when you level up. Sometimes it's worth taking damage during a fight by using bad cards if you know you are getting a full heal after. This saves the good cards for later.
* Avoid as much enemies as possible. I know more xp = more level ups, but the reality is that you will waste all your equipment. Sometimes it's worth killing an enemy to get to health/shop behind them though.
* Don't upgrade weapons. They die too fast. Instead, buy things that can do damage. This is your best chance.
* Use your gadgets as much as possible. They get replaced fast so you might as well use them to protect the longevity of your main equipment.
* Your ultimate changes your dice to 6s. This obviously can maximise damage when needed. I used it a lot, especially poor rolls.

Equipment that can help:

Grindstone [6]: Increase all equipment durability by 1.
This increases all equipment numbers except itself. It's useful for prolonging the life of some equipment.

Reversal: Swap all equipment
This is VERY helpful. It swaps all your equipment with the enemy for that fight. It saves a lot of durability on your equipment.

Things that turn into Reversal when they break/scrap:
* Berlin Key
* Encyclopedia
* Mystery Box
* Nightmare
* Yoink

Obviously I would pick these up if you see them.

Boss is a random one.

I'm posting these videos here because they aren't guides as such. They are just videos of youtubers beating this level. If my tips don't help, you can watch their playthrough and hopefully it is enough to get you past this run..
