Glitchy but fast if it works method:
If you click Bonus Episodes and select the Halloween Special, this unlocks instantly. According to the a comment, you may need to start one of the episodes for it to pop or it might just not work this way at all.
To do it the normal way:
This achievement is still one of the easiest. All you need to do in the normal game is to play as 5 different characters. You'll unlock 5 characters by just playing a little bit. Just play as the new character each time you unlock one. (I got a new character after each run, even when i lost)
Once you finish a game with your 5th, episodes will unlock

It didn't unlock for me until I actually started the episode.

I also didnt get it to pop as I played the game 3 times.
