How to unlock the Rush Hour achievement in DiRT 2 - Definitive Guide
Thankfully, even if players retire during the race the achievement will still credit (not sure if it does if they leave the gaming session before the end of the race)

WARNING: Clearing your system cache may possibly reset some features and rankings in other video-games you have played on your XBox 360, so only do this if you are certain you are OK with your work on any other games.
Note: Resetting your cache on Dirt 2 will make the game ask you for an update when you load it.
I also suggest before you go for this achievement as well is to have this achievement unlock and completed beforehand...
The reason is because when you clear your system cache, your progress for this achievement may reset and there is a possibility it could glitch on you.
Organization
The online for this game is not popular, so you are recommended to boost it. Another problem is that due to the fact that there are 2 achievements in this game that are now discontinued...
Not many people are willing to play this game simply because they cannot complete it 100% with all of the achievements. So you may have some difficulty in finding extra players to help you.
If by any chance you have 2 consoles with a dummy account, it is highly recommend you find a 2nd copy of the game and double box it for the same reason above.
The boosting method in this game is pretty much simple. First you need to decide among all of you, which 2 players will host an in-game lobby. Once decided they need to select "XBox Live" in "Multiplayer" and then invite the 3 chosen players they are going to have on their team. You can use the guide to help you out if you are all in an XBox Live Party.
When everyone is in the in-game lobby and in groups of 4, the leader then needs to choose "Pro Tour" and then select "Ruckus" that contains the 2 game modes "Domination" and "Last Man Standing".
Now as soon as everyone is in the lobby, you will fill it and prevent any randoms from joining. Here is the tricky part. You have to vote for a "Last Man Standing Match" as that is the quickest among the 2 game modes in this lobby. The game seems to rotate between the 2 whenever you return to the lobby depending upon which game mode you played in the last race. When the countdown starts you need to get everyone to vote by choosing the Vetoed method and ensure that enough votes are placed to change the game mode from Domination to Last Man Standing. You will all have to act fast though because the lobby countdown timer is only 10 seconds.
Note: If the game mode at the start of the countdown is Last Man Standing, you do not need to vote it as you will change it back to Domination.
Pick any car you want to drive and then let the match load up. Decide among all of you who is going for the win.
Boosting Method
When the race begins it is recommended to have the winning person in front and the 3 remaining players on the same team to be in 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectfully. This is because you will get a team bonus and if the player in 1st was to crash out, another player within 2nd, 3rd and 4th and go into first and take the win if they also need the achievement.
In Last Man Standing after 1 minute of racing, a countdown will begin at 20 seconds. When the timer runs out the player who is in last will get eliminated. Despite everyone's a team, the last 7 players will get eliminated except for whoever is in 1st place.
When the winning person is the sole survivor, the race will be completed and that player who remained in 1st should get this achievement if they needed it.
You will all then return to the lobby and you can all simply rinse and repeat the above methods until everyone gets a win and the achievement.
Now if the Rush Hour achievement doesn't pop for you after you have won the race in 1st place, then it's suggested that you return to the Dashboard and clear your system cache and reload the game. Obviously the remaining players within the group will have to back-out of the multiplayer lobby and wait for your return in the in-game lobby menu. After you have cleared your system cache and re-update the game, return to the multiplayer menu and into the group that you we're assigned with. At this point there is a possibility that the achievement will pop around this point. If nothing happens then the suggestion is to simply re-do the race again and see if it unlocks after another race.
Disconnections: At times people will get disconnected randomly from the races, mainly due to connection issues or for not racing at all. The game is not forgiving and if you do not press to drive and use the at some point, the game will kick you and you will be returned to the lobby menu.
As long as all 8 players we're in the results menu at the start of the race you are about to compete in, if anyone get's disconnected, the winning player can still complete the race in 1st place and get the achievement. I can confirm this as we had one player in a session and we had 7 players when the race started. The 8th player was on the results screen and they got kicked. When the winning player won in 1st place, they got the achievement which was a slight surprise.
Dummy Accounts: If you have a dummy account which you are planning to bring into the race as well, you need to ensure that the dummy account is moving as well, or it will get kicked for being inactive. Luckily the game has a feature that prevents you from doing this. When the race starts simply drive the dummy account for a moment by pressing and then press the button for the pause menu. Whilst the pause menu is active, the dummy account will drive by itself around the track at around 10mph. This means you can return to your main account and not worry about the dummy account at all. You can also easily overtake them for points.
Be-aware though that after the 2nd race of using this method, the dummy account will likely get kicked at the ending results screen, so you will have to make sure they re-group with the remaining players before the next race begins. They will likely get kicked again after you have done a 2nd race in another rotation.
I wish you all the best of luck in attempting to get this achievement. Your going to need it.
At the time of writing, a very frustrating trophy, but still doable. It’s getting harder simply due to the less popular online mode and the remaining players being generally badass; if you do get a full 8-man lobby, it’s a matter of avoiding the massive pile ups and being lucky getting some poor opposition. Alternatively, you can get a few friends together to boost this. Get a team of 8 in a single lobby to easily obtain it one at a time, if 8 people cannot be found, get a few people and join lobbies hoping to fill it up. Once 8 people fill the lobby, pick one guy to win, then the rest of the team focus on wrecking and taking out the randoms. A bit of teamwork and this trophy will be yours.
