How to unlock the King of the Road achievement in DiRT 3 - Definitive Guide

just enter hardcore and win ,best is to take it easy and let others make mistakes when i got it i was last at the beginning after hitting a post then slowly work through the field and was surprised when i crossed the finish line first ,just remember hardcore is like real there's no flashback's ,no respawns and if you end up in the river your race is over or if you wreck your car ,people quit when they damage there car , so like i say take it easy and you may be surprised
just a quick note this aimed more at the rally stages not the circuit races

Good solution. I got mine racing Trailblazer after all but 2 other racers wrecked. I got lucky an knew the track pretty well and came out with the win.

It can be done in team mode, but you need to be first across the line. It may actually be easier to try in team mode, often there is no one else playing it so you may get your own lobby, and if just one other person joins the match can start.

GAH! Why isn't anyone boosting this achievement? I keep trying to get a lobby with just me and my dummy account and always get randoms. Piece of shit game won't let you start a new lobby ever when their race is already in progress.

FYI, it's pretty easy these days to find a no-one playing Hardcore at all. A friend and I both searched for Hardcore games and got a lobby with the two of us the only players. He won the first race, I won the second. We actually had a few more races before anyone else joined. When we returned to the mode again later, we were again alone. This was on a Sunday night. It'd be even deader on a weekday. So, it's easily boosted now.

Like Joel78 said at times there will be no one playing team mode so if you get just one person in the match you should have a better chance of winning especially if they are a lower rank. If you would rather boost then you could set up two lobby's of 4 players each and have one host while the other searches for their lobby. with 4 people in a party each you should be able to match up easily. Once in the game each player has to win a race in order for the achievement to count.

Just go to Xbox live
Pro Tour
solo or team
hardcore

It should auto generate a track and you can have your partner search. Nobody plays online much anymore so I was able to get 1 boosting partner to find me easily.

I only wrote this because I had trouble finding hardcore.

In Xbox Live, you must select the Hardcore game mode under Pro Tour. These races are named "hardcore" because there is no HUD, and no assists. Typically the big Dirt fans prosper in this game mode, so you may have a hard time winning. Try finding a game with only a few people (3 or 4), and increase your chances at winning. The track and discipline will be selected automatically, so there is no way to make the races go faster. Just keep at it, and go for that win. Once you come in first, the achievement will unlock.

Go to Pro Tour and search Hardcore mode. Hardcore is where all hud is removed and the camera is locked on the cockpit view. Damage and things like that are all at full and assists are all off. You need to win a race in this mode in order to get this trophy. It's really just a standard race but most people probably aren't used to using cockpit view so it can take some adjusting to and it is quite annoying not know what your position is (if it isn't obvious) or what lap you are on (if it's a circuit race). Getting in a small room is ideal since it's less people to beat. If you are on at quieter times in the day you could even try searching at the same time as a friend to get a lobby to yourselves in which case you could decide on one of you to get the easy win.

We go to PRO Tour/Extreme (Without indicators, aids and with a head camera).

We need to win this race.

Better to do it with a friend.
