How to unlock the Teacher's Pet achievement in DiRT 3 - Definitive Guide
****The number beside the tutorial name is at what point you can find the platinum walkthrough in the video.****
1: Smash (0:07)
This one is tricky. Follow the path in the video underneath, and you should eventually get it. If you are having trouble, try revisiting it once you get more similar with the game.
2: Air (1:02)
Probably the easiest of all the tutorials. Just line up with the ramp and make sure you have decent speed and take off straight. Spin you car around to head back the other direction and land 4 perfect jumps, to get 45000+ and get that platinum medal.
3: Drift (1:48)
Very frustrating, but not too bad once you get the hang of it. Again, feel free to come back to this if you are having trouble. The key is to go in a 8-figure instead of an oval. Another key is to score off ALL gates during every corner. Missing a single one will make you get gold instead. Average at least 4,000 a gate, and you should be able to get that platinum medal. If you find yourself having a few bad corners, try rewinding or restarting.
4: Spin (3:05)
Make sure to approach the zone at an angle, hit your brake, turn into the zone, and then apply handbrake and start spinning. As soon as you reach 3 triangles (10,000 points) start heading for the next zone. As long as you make no mistakes, you should be able to make it before the time runs out.
5: Donut (4:19)
The final challenge. Start off with the donut in front of you, and then do what feels right. As soon as you see those 3 triangles fill up, head towards the next closest donut opportunity. Don't waste time, just head for whatever is front of you. After a few tries, this one should come.

Thanks for the video!
Just a quick tip when it comes to the drift part. Try some of the different views. It seems like it would make no difference, but I did much better with the in-car/bonnet view than I did with the behind the car view (the view I generally use).
Also, abuse those rewinds if you aren't already.
-Spin-
I also had another slightly different method for the spin challenge which seemed slightly easier for me.
Instead of transitioning between the two different spin zones, stick to one of them. Once you've maxed out the spin get the car just outside the pink square you're in, re-enter it and proceed to spin again.
In his video I realized that for most of the time while he is sliding he is in 2nd gear. When I was first trying this challenge in Automatic transmission my driver would constantly gear up into 3rd which would cause my car to lose its speed and slide. I think my best Auto-Trans score was about 99,000. So what I did was go into the game options (Back in the main menu, not in the service area before a race) and switch my transmission from Automatic to Manual.
The first time I tried Manual I hit 130,000. If you're going to try this method out here's what I did. As soon as you get control of your car (after the timer counts down) switch into 2nd gear by hitting "X". Stay in 2nd for the rest of the race. I also changed some of my "Vehicle Setup" options to help me out. Here's what mine looked like
Gear Ratio - Short [1] 2 3 4 5 Long
Downforce - High 1 2 [3] 4 5 Low
Suspension - Stiff 1 2 [3] 4 5 Soft
Differential - Strong [1] 2 3 4 5 Loose
Brake Bias - Rear 1 2 [3] 4 5 Front
These probably aren't the best settings for the car but they worked for me. Just a suggestion for you to try out.
Also don't forget that you have 5 rewinds. If you miss one gate (that you feel you could have got with a bit of an adjustment) or come into a gate a little close just rewind and try it again. *TIP* rewind almost as far as you can so that you can re-gain your line going into the turn that you failed on. If you resume right before the turn there is a good chance that you wont be able to change the outcome. (It happened to me many times)
Hope this helps out anyone in the future. Leave your comments and if you feel the need to down vote please tell me why so I can improve my solutions. Thanks and good drifting!
**EDIT** I know that in Maka's solution he say's that you cant miss a single gate and I just have to say that's not entirely true. I think I missed 2 gates in my Platinum run and I managed to score 147,300. I'd say that 2 gates is probably the maximum that you can miss so don't worry if you miss one.
Paully05 gave me a little tip in the comments down below about car tuning that might work better for some other people. Check it out!
ahhh frustrating !

This is the final event in season 1. There are 5 tutorials, 1 for each trick type. The platinum medal requirements for some of these are actually pretty tough and will require a decent amount of repetition and practice in order to master the event and get the platinum medals but with persistence they shouldn't cause you too much trouble except perhaps the drifting tutorial where the key is just to try and get solid scores (not necessarily the maximum of 5000), but score in all the gates. It's best to keep the trick steer assist turned on in the assist menu. It makes things a lot easier through these events so if the voice over man tells you that you're so awesome you don't even need it, just ignore him, he's an idiot.

You must achieve platinum in five competitions:
1. SMASH TUTORIAL - Video hint
2. JUMP TUTORIAL - Video hint
3. DRIFT TUTORIAL - Video hint + in my opinion, the most difficult competition of these five, and personally the first video hint of the PC version helped me, and my settings before the race were as follows:
ASSISTS - all OFF
VEHICLE SETUP:
GEAR RATIO - average
DOWNFORCE - LOW max
SUSPENSION - STIFF min
RIDE HEIGHT - LOW min
DIFFERENTIAL - average
BRAKE BIAS - average
4. SPIN TUTORIAL - Video hint
5. DONUT TUTORIAL - Video hint
