UPDATE: As of November 17th, 2020, Codemasters has reduced the requirement from 10,000 miles to 1,000 miles.
After completing all other achievements, around 6-8 hours of additional grinding may be required. The original solution is listed below for the "True Achievements 10k 2" Playground track.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have created a Playground to aid with this grueling achievement. Good news, the achievement can be grinded by simply using a wrench or rubber band (or other household item) to wedge your down, and the car will rack up miles by itself. Just make sure to have the controller plugged in so it doesn't turn off.
The track is called "True Achievements 10k 2". Go to PLAYGROUND, then DISCOVER, then hit to SEARCH. Type in the name, select the track, and then drive off the starting platform into the narrow corridor below. The walls do all the work. No steering required.
Some caveats:
- A session only lasts for 60 minutes. Right now, there seems to be no way around this.
- The session must end, but you don't have to go through the FINISH platform. Driving until the 60 minutes run out is fine.
- Achievement progress only updates after the session is over.
- Testing your own playground does provide infinite time, but mileage doesn't seem to track. It has to be a race/event session.
The track requires the Subaru Impreza RX car. The car will slow down to 45-50mph in the corners, then accelerate to 105-110mph down the straights. It is recommended that you save this achievement until last, as completing the career will provide 40-50% progress.

Thanks for creating the track and posting this solution
This ones going to be a super grind, shame it’s 60mins not unlimited.
(Released and live on PlayStation platforms; rolling out imminently on Xbox platforms)

Probably Tuesday as stated above.
I started this map, I drive 20mins and go in the finish so I Look, I have 50% progress.
I start again and drive 20min again.
I drive in the finish and I have 5% more. Why? What I make wrong?
After completing it the first time, the achievement updated to show your progress toward 1,000 miles instead of 10,000, giving you a big boost.
If you're around 50%, you'll have to play it for several more hours.
"Thank you for your email, the development team are already investigating reports of this issue and we aim to provide fixes for any issues that we find in the game and that we can replicate here within our testing team.
The next update to the game is due shortly.
Hope this helps."
Info: I just completed everything else in the game and finished with 46% progress towards the 1000 miles.
I've tried just about everything, but still seem to be stuck at 98%. :/
But my progress is now fully blocked at 75 %
.. ffs .. 🙄
God damnit.
Maybe that's why the playground miles no longer count?
Yeesh Codemasters, get it together.
I don't understand why the miles weren't accumulated on career. Felt like I had done 1000 miles, as 1000 miles isn't that much with the races that were done. Yet I only had 47%
So I used the playground games map went up 6 or 7% per hour. Stuck at 70% I tried twice afterwards thinking I had messed up somehow. But yet still, Not tracking
I played on a different gamer tag and started the game fresh the career does work but after 30mins of playing tracker still on 63%
EDIT:
Ok so the tracker looks to be working again I went form 63% to 67% after doing 45 mins in playgrounds so I would like to confirm that playground miles do count
EDIT: I can confirm it is now tracking progress. I let the playground race run for 50 mins then went through the finish and it went from 69% to 74%.
Gonna get this done now before they screw it up again.
Thanks to FlollyLF for the heads up
EDIT 2: it looks like mine has stopped again at 81%
keep racing it should fix it self
Still stuck at 81%
Finally popped it. Very random... it seems to work only after a few resets.
And only progressed for 1 hours worth of driving... I went from 71% to 82% and haven't moved today in 2 hours... I'm also sat watching the car going round and moving the LS stick every 3 mins
Starting to piss me off, as I messaged my friend and he said his game ran flawlessly all the way through... Where I have had nothing butt issues the whole game
EDIT - OK got it working and completed it....finally!
EDIT: I erased my local save and went for another two 60-minute rounds at HomelyBumRocket´s Playground. It eventually began counting again.
If nothing changes, then I’m afraid you’re in for a blind run since there isn’t any stats page.

Once you start getting the tracker to work again you can start doing 60 minute playground event. After it’s done DO NOT CLICK RETRY. Instead quit to the main menu and click any career event. Finish it and then you can start another 60 minute session. Rinse and repeat this alternation. This is the safe method I used. It might not work for everybody.
1. After loading the track, I rubber banded the trigger and wired my controller
2. I left it running for 40-55 minutes. I never let it reach 60 minutes.
3. I took control and drove across the finish line. I had the achievement tracker pinned and it tracked everytime I crossed the line.
4. I clicked retry and rubber banded again and left it for another 40-55 minutes.
It went up around 6-8% each time and eventually unlocked. Good luck to everyone who is having problems.
I've just completed Chapter 4 and my tracker hasn't frozen... yet!
Second time though, i mistook the time and it expired after an hour but tracker still went up by 8% that time. Just kept opting for retry after each hour (tracker went up ~8% each time) and got this to pop after around 7 hours of letting the car loop the circuit with no issues regarding tracker freezing etc
If that were the case, the tracker wont increase until you complete another 750 miles (to increase your % to 75)
I closed the game, deleted my save from my console only, then hard reset my xbox (hold the power button down for 10 seconds until it powers off. Wait 10 seconds before you restart it). Really important to close the game before you delete the local save. This will force a cloud sync.
Once I started dirt 5 again, my percentage had jumped to 79%. Hopefully this helps a few of you out.
This happens so often, to me anyway, that I now limit my sessions to 15 minutes to ensure I'm at least collecting some mileage. You get about 2% progression every 15 minutes using this playground.
Worst achievement I've seen by far.
The game si ton of fun at the start then quickly become boring, and so does the achivements
Can confirm I got it this friday, with the playground so it should still be alright !
I am on 780 miles now after playing around 2-3 hours tonight. its not started moving yet.. thought it may help someone though
Edit :- My game is tracking again now, finally
Ultimately, if you keep grinding (maybe finishing before the 60 minutes as some people suggested here), the game progression should come back to the same value as on the achievement tracking, it will raise again and you will finally get it.
Ha sido de gran ayuda. Tras jugar los Dlc tenía sobre el 72% y con hacer esto 2 veces ya lo he conseguido.
Gracias por el aporte y por el circuito creado.
My tracking got to 85% when it had stopped. Stats had gone back to 600 miles, then after each race I checked it was going up and repeated the race until it hit 1000.
Also I regularly went over 60 mins and it all counted the same
Go from 50 to 63 in 2 hours
Thank's, i'll try that when have time.
Really appreciate it.
also anyone wondering how to make you're milage count you have to drive thought the middle of the map to the finish line.
Don't just quit out or it won't count.
I currently have been doing it for 81 minutes lol
I played the game entirely on Xbox Series X until my tracking froze. Nothing was working on there (hard resets, uninstalls, etc.), so I installed Dirt 5 on my Xbox One X and naturally re-synced my save up and after running the playground for a full hour it went up 1% (odd, but still progress) . From then on, it went back to the usual 7-8% and unlocked the achievement.
Probably linked more to syncing my save than the console change. If you're feeling okay taking the risk (don't think there will be DLC for this), delete your console save (ONLY console save, not all saves) and then open Dirt 5 to resync your save.
EDIT: Deleting my save and retrying True Achievements 10k 2 didn't work for me. The progress wouldn't go up. I tried deleting my save again (online deleting my local save) and tried using True Achievements 10k. After one run of 60 minutes the progress bar went up 1%. Currently on my second run and will update this post with the results.
I think the problem is triggered by setting a time on the map. I set a time of 7 seconds on True Achievements 10k 2 and after that it wouldn't update my progress anymore. Perhaps anybody else can verify this as I'm not sure?
EDIT 2: My percentage went up 7% after the second race. Hopefully this helps anyone else that's stuck!
EDIT 3: I managed to unlock the achievement by getting 7% each race since my last edit!
I would like to think that the whole crashing issue is connected to your game save and it’s not the game or console it’s self (just my guess) but yes hopefully they fix this soon it makes no sense for this to happen after playing playgrounds
I’m really tempted to completely delete my save and start fresh as Iv completed career mode anyway that would verify that the freeze issue is related to save.
Currently playing playgrounds on the one x so will see if my tracker goes up at all
Also here is a link to send technical issues I’m sure codemasters are already aware of this but the more of us who fill it in the better so send them a video of your game crashes when you enter career
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd-YqrLl5GxlUZU3evP...
However I’ve hit 93% and after what I thought would be my last race it’s still on 93%.
I’ve set it away again and got to 30mins when I took over and crossed the finish and again it’s still on 93%.
I’ve now replayed a few career races and it’s not budging from 93% 😕
Good solution man.
In my case, this track has consistently crashed on me about five times in a row twenty minutes in each run.
I had to completely delete the local save, delete the local account/profile on my system, restart the console and sign in once again to get it unstuck.
If that doesn’t work, then your last hope is to completely wipe and reset the Xbox and redownload the games you already had downloaded. Your save data is automatically stored in ‘the cloud,’ so that’s something to not worry about at least.
When I say campaign race, it is events related to history.
Has anybody popped this yet with their tracker not moving I'm wondering? Maybe the game is registering the miles but it's just not reflected in the tracker?
I believe what’s happening is that the achievement tracker might be reverting miles by a few 10-20% and because the tracker doesn’t go back(i think) it’s staying at whatever your highest was. Meaning you might have to do another 21% to catch back up and get up by 1%. I believe that pressing retry instead of going to the main menu after doing the playground race might be the problem. Just to be safe once you’ve done some progress at the playgrounds race, do a campaign race to somewhat have the game save the progress. This is just a theory of what might be happening.
Someone recently made a pretty much identical map to this, with a similar name (True Achievements 10k 1). It covers more area in the arena and uses a faster car so you'll be hitting 120mph on most straights, meaning you can knock out this achievement faster. It's not one you can leave AFK for a while though, every ten minutes or so you'll probably end up facing a wall so it'll need some manual input occasionally. But if you're present while it's running it shouldn't be a problem, it'll work out faster overall.
Edit: And just as I was typing this, my progress seems to show on this site as 83%. No idea, but I'm hoping everything is fine. I also hope everyone's progress that is frozen unfreezes for you. I might still be screwed, I'll have to see.
Edit edit: Ok, that was my only snag. I didn't do anything with playgrounds other than the 2 achievements that required them. It made my game take longer, but I didn't have any issues after that one. Maybe playgrounds is causing the issues?

Just go to the custom made race circuits and type 'Spare some change for gas' in the search bar. There will be some custom circuits that you can start driving in, all you need to do is put an elastic band around your controller to hold down the accelerate trigger. Now you walk away and come back later.
Finish the 'race' by driving through the finish line marker and then check your progress in the stats menu. Repeat multiple times until complete.

This will almost certainly be the last trophy you earn. Just be thankful that it was reduced from the insanity that was 10,000 miles. This is also the main reason you want to have your game updated. The DLC combined will add about another 800km (500miles), so if you own the season pass this trophy will come naturally (or very close to it).
Any mileage you cover in any game mode will count for this, just be sure to finish the event to ensure it counts. By the time I'd finished the campain I was about half way so if you don't have the DLC there is still several hours of grinding to be done.
There are a few options to get this done:
- Create an empty playground (also gets you Blank Slate ) and drive in circles in a fast car. I could get an average speed of just under 100m/h (160km/h) this way.
- Search "1,000 miles" or "AFK" in the playgrounds search bar and numerous user created playgrounds exist where your car is 'guided' around the perimeter as long as the throttle is held down.
- Re-do the sprint event at East Mitten (Dust Bowl) in the Red Zone over and over again (or any other race that takes your fancy)

Video guide (en).
Very important note: This method works in sessions in one-hour increments. The game will automatically end the event after an hour, after which you can restart it. It's a good idea to double-check your game from time to time to make sure your machine isn't stuck and that the AFK (rubber band/tape) is working properly.
After estimates, this exact method (providing breaks to reset the track in case of stuck cars or other errors) should give you an approximate speed of 100-120 mph to this trophy.
With mileage being saved across all modes, using Playground mode really contributes to this trophy. For this method, you can use an elastic band or a small piece of tape. It is recommended to use the Ribbon as you don't need to move the joysticks with this method, you only need to hold down the R2 button.
Now what you want to do is to start this method from the main menu, go to Playgrounds. Now, once you are on this screen, you will see two options: Discover other user-created playgrounds or Create, click the Discover tab. Once you go to the Discover tab, you will see a variety of playgrounds to choose from. What you're going to do is go to the search bar and type in "Miles" under the name of the playground.
Once you have entered "Miles" under the name, confirm the name, scroll down and search. You will notice many play areas created for this special trophy. Some are recommended due to the fact that others may get stuck in your vehicle. Smaller AFK cards are usually more efficient so your car doesn't bounce. The photo below shows the recommended site selection for this trophy.
Recommended site for AFK
METHOD TWO: Replaying Career/Free Play Mode: Time Trials
The first method is highly recommended, but this is another option for players. This method involves simply replaying certain events from Career Mode. It is recommended to compete in Sprint events at the Hans Circuit or East Mitten Reverse Circuit as they are small circuit courses and can easily be completed in a couple of minutes each. Make sure you buy high tier vehicles when using this method to maximize your stats/speed. This means S and A rated cars. The reason why sprint racing is recommended is because you don't have to worry about rough terrain, other cars passing you, or even having your car move frequently. Below is one of the recommended events on the East Mitten Reverse Circuit. Specifically, this event consists of 10 laps and takes about 2 and a half minutes.
One of the recommended events (circuit sprint, 10 laps)
TIME TEST METHOD:
Another great way is to use the Time Trial mode in Free Play mode. Like the first method, this mode actually has a timeout of one hour, so you will need to continue playing. The same map, East Mitten, is recommended for use in time trial mode.
To find this map, select the USA: Arizona location in the mode location selection, then select East Mitten. Additionally, the Mini Cooper SXI is recommended as it has an S rating for performance and an A rating for handling, and its stats are fantastic for getting better mileage.
Recommended car - Mini Cooper SXI
Recommended map location is East Mitten, Arizona.
Fix in a clamped position (I inserted a 10 ruble coin, someone uses a toothpick). The race ends exactly every hour, so if you leave the console, set a reminder for yourself to restart the race
If you play Time Trial , it is better to choose the location Norway>Hans Circuit , where you can press the gas pedal and not worry that the car will roll over or fly off the track.

1)
1k miles trophy AFK R2r
Advantages: Average speed 200 km/h , the car will not overturn
Completely for AFK, we fix the R2 button (for example, inserting a match between R1 and R2) and as soon as the car picks up speed, hold the left stick up and slightly to the right so that our vehicle rests against the ceiling. And then we wait... The car does not recline and does not get stuck if the stick is pressed correctly...
2)
1k miles trophy race
Here you need to manually steer, the speed remains at 245 mph
