How to unlock the Dependable achievement in Dirt Rally - Definitive Guide

This requires you to finish all the stages of a Monthly Event. Monthly Events are, well, online events that refresh every month and feature 24 stages. As the title of the achievement suggests, this is more a test of consistency and safe driving than sheer speed. Note that if you're too early, some stages will be labelled as "coming soon", so come back at the last week of the month to have all stages available.

Your biggest challenge will be avoiding totalling the car, aka go off the track at some point where your car cannot be recovered. That's the end of the whole event for you. Also, if you receive terminal damage in some vital component of the car (you've probably experienced this after crashing really hard and losing both front wheels for example) you won't be able to finish as well.

Therefore, going at a 75% speed is more than advisable, so you can avoid crashing hard or totalling. If you end up having some parts damaged nevertheless, such the engine and the intercooler, don't hesitate to receive a penalty in the service area for going over the half hour mark. It's preferable to just finish with more time on the clock than having the engine fail on you in the last few stages.

So back off the throttle, maximise the repairs and you will be able to finish and get the achievement.

I did not unlock this achievement, even though I completed the December monthly event. I even unlocked the challenge where you need to complete the December monthly event. Why?

I honestly don't know. Bare in mind that I had to meet the requirements for finishing in the top tier of a Hillclimb daily event twice, since the first time I did the achievement didn't unlock. Do you remember if you started up the game with the console in stand-by mode, when you finished the event? I'm feeling that's the issue, since the game needs to be restarted manually for some reason.

Just wanted to add that totaling your car doesn't mean your void the achievement (as long as you quit out of the game instead of accepting the DNF). I even got the 0G achievement for cashing out of a rally and it didn't stop me from getting this monthly event one.

Honestly, after the crash I was just driving to get the credits, I fully expected quitting out would void the achievement. Turns out it doesn't. smile

I would also like to add dont bother fixing your Radiator. My radiator kept going to 0% and it does bring the engine down quicker but, every 2 events just fix your Engine, Driveshaft, wheels as much as you can and i never actually even had a near ending experience as my car was good enough the whole time. Exhaust can go to 0 without ending your rally.

Spot-on comment by Mr Proudyy, since the radiator is glitched and was never patched. Basically, if it receives damage past the point of the indicator turning on, then any attempt at fixing it at the service area will be futile since its condition will keep dropping back down any way.
The exhaust is indeed not a problem. You only lose a bit of power if it's damaged past a certain point.

Does the achievement unlock when the event ends at the end of the month, and shows results, or does it unlock as soon as you finish?

To answer my own question, it should pop as soon as you finish the event, no need to wait for the end of the month/event. My achievement tracking system was just stuck/having a hiccup.

Mine also didn’t pop but got stuck in a state of ‘unlocking’. Resolved in 24 hours.

This is certainly interesting, since it had issues often back then. Did they improve it when they were acquired by EA? I don't think anybody knows for certain, I'm just glad the achievement is still obtainable.

As the other person has said it is really difficult. If you do end up going off somewere stupid that your car cant be recovered or you total it. DONT HIT RETIRE.when the screen comes up about the damage hold the power button on the xbox till it properly switches off and turn it back on again you start on the stage you wrecked on

To add to this solution, if you damage your car badly enough that you are forced to retire (like a blown engine) you will get the achievement. I was only 7 stages in (out of 24) and got it. I

Not sure about this. I wrecked mine 20 stages in and never got the trophy (yes I own this game on PS4 but it shouldn't matter wink)

Its sounds like if you crash it you don't get it but if something mechanical goes you will get it.

Well I can actually prove it because I've unlocked the challenge for Completing the June monthly event. That and also since the last stages are not even available yet and I unlocked the achievement 9 days in.

May not have worked for you I guess. It did for me and others that have already unlocked the June challenge.

Similar to the trophy for weekly events, here you will need to complete a monthly event. Again, finishing position is irrelevant in unlocking this trophy. Monthly events consist of 24 stages spread across several of the rallying locations.

Unlike rallying in the career or custom championships, your vehicle will not automatically be repaired to 100% condition as you change location. Instead, you have to manually repair your vehicle using the allotted time constraints after every second stage. This is where the element of difficulty lies with this particular trophy. You really need to baby your car throughout each stage as there are no restarts. Heavily crashing early on in the event might not present an immediate problem, but it may rear its head towards the end of the monthly event as your repair priorities and time constraints become more limited. In terms of prioritising repair time, you should focus upon: Engine, Driveshaft and Tyres; as these items can cause your car to retire if they reach critical condition.

You should also avoid driving flat out in areas of high risk. If your car falls off a cliff and cannot be recovered, that’s it. Your monthly event is over until next month (at least in theory).

So the gist of the weekly and monthly events is basically to drive slowly and take care of your car at the expense of setting a fast time. After all, completing the event is all it takes to unlock this trophy.

Keep in mind that an exploit exists with the weekly and monthly events which allows you to restart an event if you mess up. If your car receives too much damage or cannot be recovered, you can quickly quit the game and reboot it to be returned to the event immediately after your last service area repair session. As long as you were able to quit the game before it autosaved or communicated with the RaceNet servers, you will be able to continue. Please note that this method only works with the weekly and monthly events. Quitting the game mid event in any of the daily events will lock you out of that event.

At section 15 the engine died. The trophy never dropped. So it makes no sense to kill the car; on the contrary, it is better to try to preserve it.

It is best to start this event at the end of the month, somewhere a couple of days before the end of the month. You need to go through 24 Special Stages in 4 countries. And try to keep the car intact, the completed event counts

I see absolutely no point in doing this at the end of the month. The exception is if you just started playing the game and want to try to catch up this month. And so in general, you need to not stupidly rush to go, but first prepare. Please note - even if you drive perfectly, the car will still wear out and without “experienced” mechanics it will be difficult to drive through all the special stages.

Therefore, first it is advisable:
- level up the main mechanic to at least level 50-65
- hire three of the best mechanics (it is advisable to open at least one bonus each)
- before the start of the race, we look at what kind of car it is and assign appropriate bonuses to the mechanics
in this case, if there are no major accidents, you will finish your meal without any problems.

You can also exit after every second race and save. That is, it is not necessary to go through all the special stages at once - you can stretch out the “fun” for the whole month.

ZY There is also a little trick - if you crashed your car badly or even flew into a ditch, you can exit through the PS button during the race (the main thing is before the final result is shown) and then when you enter the game you will continue from the last checkpoint (after every second special stage)
