How to unlock the I Am the 5% achievement in Dirt Rally - Definitive Guide

Just start a 'Custom Championship' in Career Mode and play a Rally with 1 event and 1 stage. Pick your preferred car and just complete the one stage in first place, whilst using 'Head Cam'. 'Head Cam' is the camera angle which is inside the car, where you can see the dashboard, the steering wheel and the drivers arms. To change your camera angle use cn_RB on the default controller settings.

Note: You must be using this camera for the whole duration of the stage, if you change at any point you won't get the achievement.

If you're struggling to win you can also just create a leagues race with 1 stage and complete it by yourself to win.

This is also obtainable in Custom Events from the Main Menu.

I picked Custom Events > Rally (obviously), set it to 1 stage, and the Results Type to Personal Best. You could play against AI drivers, but setting it to Personal Best is a guaranteed win.

Tried it a few times and it would not pop, went looking and found these settings, it popped first time.

Custom Rally - 1 stage - personal best time.

Preferences:
Transmission: Automatic

Clutch Override: On

Allow Exterior Cameras: ON

Automatic Launch Control: On

ABS: 5

Traction Control: Off

Stability Control: Off

Entire HUD: Off

Co-driver Calls: Normal

Camera Shake: 100%

Cockpit Driver & Wheel: Enabled

Manual Windscreen Wipers: Off

Headcam is the view with the steering wheel inside the car. Go to Custom Rally -> 1 Stage and set the race to "personal best". Personal best ensures you "win" no matter what so drive at your own pace and finish the race to get the trophy. Never leave headcam view after the race begins or you'll void the trophy.

The headcam camera view is the view that allows you to see the steering wheel and other elements of a vehicle’s interior. To change views, press  by default and cycle through until you reach the headcam view. Now you just need to win an event in this view. Note: the option in preferences to allow exterior cameras should be kept ‘on’ while attempting to earn this trophy. Having it set to ‘off’ can cause issues in unlocking this trophy, even when driving in headcam view.

If none of the above methods worked, try finishing all current championships in your career (you can put the save in the cloud/flash drive and cancel the championship) in the settings “allow external view - on”. Then you can again knock out through the “league” (created on the website).
Neither a “clean” car nor personal records helped, but that’s what worked (the view from the cockpit was set right at the start, during the countdown)

The trophy is glitchy. The fact is that I have never ridden with another type, I won a bunch of races - the trophy did not fall out. There are a lot of discussions about this on foreign forums, people turn off the assists, and ride in different modes, try different cars - everyone gets the trophy under different conditions. I tried a lot of instructions - everything is useless. Personally, I got a trophy when I completed the daily online race on a Lancia Stratos in the highest segment, but there were only two of them - until the end of the race the lowest is called temporary.

The method works 100% in a custom race, but you need to set the race with the AI, and not a personal best. First, turn off all assistants in the settings, and then before the start itself, so that you don’t have anything unnecessary on the screen. No speedometer, no turn signs, no progress bar, no time.

Perhaps the strangest trophy I've ever seen. Its receipt defies any logic. I first tried to get it from the hint above (with a personal best), but it didn’t work. I looked on YouTube, there is a section against AI, it didn’t work either. I freaked out and tried again, setting a personal record. I chose a car with clean statistics (Impreza in the 2000s), chose the shortest track in Germany and the trophy came out on the very first run.

I will add that there is no logic.
I read on foreign forums that first we turn off all the help except the HUD. Then we go into the HUD and turn off all its elements with our hands. After that, turn off the entire HUD itself.
This didn’t help me in the custom race; I didn’t get any trophies with my opponents or my personal best.
But he immediately dropped out of the custom championship for 1 race with 1 special stage. The route in Greece is a 10 km descent from the mountain along sandstone. I did it on a pumped-up Renault Alpine of the 1960s. You need to do it in 4 minutes and there will be 10 seconds left.

He didn’t fall for a long time, he fell out as if at random.

Custom race - Rally - Germany (5 km something)
Race with bots (not personal best)
Transmission - automatic
Clutch lock - off
3rd person camera - on (but started by default with a view from the cockpit)
Automatic start control - on
ABS, traction and stabilization - off
Interface - on
Messages - usually
Shaking - 100
Pilot and rudder - on
Manual brush mode - off

It feels like the trophy drops with a 5% chance when you win, and it's not because of the settings)

I found a 100% way to knock out a trophy, but to get it, you must first knock out another trophy. It seems like the developers did something a little tricky with triggers, but this method is 100% tested and works.
First you need to knock out the Maximum Attack trophy / Maximum attack , follow the tips of your friend Ereja1 , create your own league with 12 special stages, turn off all assistants and complete the event. After we received this trophy, we do not touch anything in the settings, except for the parameter: only view from the cockpit ON . Let's go to a custom race ( not a championship ). There we create 1 special stage on any track, in any car, in the type of competition we set a personal record . We pass through a special stage and the trophy flies out right at the finish line.
I don't know why this happens, if you just create a custom race with a personal best and a cockpit view, you won't get the trophy until you complete a custom league for another trophy, such a paradox.
