How to unlock the So Last Year achievement in Dirt Rally - Definitive Guide

The following solution will also work for these Achievements; the only difference is what car you use to complete them:

DiRT RallyDoes Your Mother Know? The Does Your Mother Know? achievement in DiRT Rally worth 170 pointsWin a Championship in a 1970s vehicle.

DiRT RallyFriends-Rivals-Champions-LegendsThe Friends-Rivals-Champions-Legends achievement in DiRT Rally worth 220 pointsWin a Championship in a 2000s vehicle.

DiRT RallyHello? Is It Me You R Looking 4?The Hello? Is It Me You R Looking 4? achievement in DiRT Rally worth 210 pointsWin a Championship in a R4 vehicle.

For the purposes of this Achievement a "Championship" refers to a Career Championship only. You cannot unlock this Achievement by winning a Custom Championship or one in any other game mode.

The easiest way to unlock this is to enter the Open Championship. If you are already at a higher difficulty level you can demote yourself by doing the following:

> Enter the Championship at your current difficulty level.
> Begin the first stage and Retire immediately.
> Back out to the Championships menu and press cn_X to access the Championship Standings.
> Press cn_LB to abandon the current Championship; you will end up in last place and get demoted to a lower difficulty level.
> Repeat this process until you are in the Open Championship.

Once in the Open Championship you will take part in 6 events, with 4 stages each. Then it is simply a process of beating the AI stage times and amassing enough points to win the Championship.

If you don't know what car to use I recommend checking out this guide. Using fully upgraded cars can also help but if you're quick enough it may not be necessary.

Don't agree with this, there is very little difference between the timings for the difficulties and not once did I see a main competitor have an issue on any stage at open difficulty. So if you can't beat their times which in my opinion are challenging to say the least then it would be next to impossible to get the achievement this way. I had far more success at clubman difficulty due to retirements of the main competitor's. That being said if you can beat the times then this is the best solution but the wording makes it seem far simpler than it actually is.

Clubman has more stages to do and have the possibility of messing up, on top of the CPU times being faster and harder to beat. That's a lot of time to invest just to hope that you get lucky and the lead guy crashes badly so you can win. If that doesn't happen, which it doesn't every time, then you have to start over and spend all that time again and hope.

It's a hard achievement, yes, and you have to be good enough to beat the times. But the times are easiest on Open difficulty and it has the fewest stages. You only have to win 4 of the 6 events and then you can get 2nd or 3rd in the other two, so if you struggle with certain locations, like I do with Wales and Greece, just make sure you win the other 4 and you'll have enough points to win the championship.

Just to clarify that neg vote wasn't me, I haven't voted on the solution. I only offered my point of view.

I did this with with FORD
Fully upgraded
Open difficulty
Tune a little bit
Tarmac bottom four of the tuning all the way to the right or second from the right
the rideheight :front suspension al the way to the left
rear suspension second from the left
Gravel bottom four of the tuning in the middel
i had the same points as the AI and got the achievement
So you only have to win 3 and the rest finished 2 to get the same points as the AI if he wins the other 3 and comes 2 in the races you have won
Hope this helps

If you win and move to the club level, you don’t need to roll back your save to play on another car, just lose the club level, literally run the track, wait for the start and “Options - Leave” and so on 6 times. After this, you will be returned to the "Open Championships".
