If someone wants to do this "legit" or at least doesn't have a second controller (like me): Showdown Pro Tour -> First Event (Miami, 3 Laps) with a fully upgraded Zenden Cup worked fine for me.

You don't need a fully upgraded Zenden Cup. It'll take a few tries due to all the dirty racing going on, but you can do it with a Zenden Cup with one point in power. I did this after doing the first two races.
