How to unlock the Max Power achievement in DiRT Showdown - Definitive Guide

You only need to own the upgradable vehicles, which are the vehicles that have a class of B, C or D. Any vehicles already at class A does not need to be bought so the following vehicles do not need to be bought:

Rampage/8 Ball/Knock Out/Hard Target events vehicles:
Kohler G350
DMG Titan

Race off/Domination/Eliminator events vehicles:
Janzen Modified
Lombardi 336LM

Head 2 Head/Smash Hunter/Trick Rush events vehicles:
All vehicles in this race type do not need to be bought for this achievement.

Only buying the vehicles you need will save you a lot of money especially as once you earn gold in an event you cannot redo it for more money.

To upgrade a vehicle press cn_X when selecting each vehicle and upgrade each of the 3 areas (Power, Strength and Handling) each upgrade level becomes progressively more expensive.
$1,000
$2,500
$5,000
$5,000
$7,500
$10,000
$15,000

A fully upgraded vehicle will become a class A vehicle

After buying all the cars, you have some money left over but not a great deal. Pretty sure I got this when I reached Level 25 on MP, you get a lot of $ per Level.

Just to add to the above, I was level 23 online and came up 50k short of buying everything. You can turn auto save off buy all the cars then dashboard and reload with all your money again then do this achievement after.

Unfortunately when I played this years ago, I didn't realize you'd end up with not enough money after the career mode to buy all the cars and earn this. Just finished it on a new driver profile with ease. In case you're in the same boat as me and have been putting it off, it's easy. I flew through all the races on casual in about 4 and a half hours. And Sammler 360's price target is incorrect, as you only need 929,400 credits to purchase and fully upgrade all D, C and B class cars.

Neither of these guides make it that clear, but you do not need to race online at all. Play through showdown tour without purchasing any upgrades or cars at all. Then at the end turn autosave OFF; buy cars except the ones stated in Spilner's solution; then buy all modifications for them. You should have comfortably enough money. Then dashboard, reload the game and buy all the cars for the achievement Showdown Showroom.

In the menu where you can pick a car, press to upgrade it. Buy all upgrades for power, weight and handling for that particular car. Rinse and repeat this process for all 30 available cars to get this trophy.

As you are selecting your car you can press to upgrade it. Buy every upgrade for power, weight and handling. Repeat this for all 30 cars to unlock this achievement. You can do this while playing through the Showdown tour, or you can save up your money and spend it all in one go at the end, the choice is yours.

Improve all possible characteristics of each car in the Racing and Derby categories.

Cars for Gymkhana do not require any upgrades.
