How to unlock the Hooked achievement in Dishonored: Death of the Outsider - Definitive Guide

Chapter 2

Grab a hook mine for 60 coins in the black marked and find the civilian fishing by the canal. Right next to him is a huge drop down where you can send him 40 meters flying.

Set the Hook Mine to lethal by holding cn_LT and place it on the small stone pillar next to him and the Hook Mine will do the rest.

You can find several hook mines during chapter 1 so you shouldn't even have to buy one.

Man, I feel real bad doing that to that poor guy... but I did it anyway.

If you already killed the fisherman before you read the guide, you can easily lure any of the nearby guards and attach a hook mine to the crane across the bridge from the skiff at this spot.

Crane worked for me , couldn't get it to work like in the video. He just smacked into the pillar each time.

Same as Sketchy and Calex commented, found the little hook on the crane worked great for me, threw a mine on it and the guard must have gone 150 metres!

Can't vote because I'm on PS4 but +1 from me. Made a save here and got it on the fourth try, 2 minutes tops.

Just wanna comment about how you can get 3-4 hookshots in the previous chapter if you explore a bit in the room next to the white dogs (theres a porthole where you can trank or shoot the dogs in the room with hookshots)

This one has to be bugged, tried it so many different ways and definitely went further than a few guides I watched and nothing.

I just thought I'd add that for the peeps who are bugged, try doing the exact same technique but on Mission 3 "The Bank Job" instead, it turns out that Mission 2 would not unlock the hooked achievement for me (On a side note, you may have to start a new playthrough if it still doesn't pop) Good Luck !

A far easier tactic is to instead go to blue building on the right seen around 1:58 marker. Place a lethal mine on the railing over looking the chasm. Now knock out the guy, carry him to the mine, then toss him up in the air over the railing. The mine will snag his hand or foot and kill him, but because you threw him over the edge, he will still fall 40+ ft unlocking the achievement. Essentially tricks the game into thinking the mine did the work

@RCone138 thanks - This is what worked for me. Above solution never worked, but great tip still. I am playing the Windows version though, not sure if it matters.

This achievement can be obtained as early as Mission 2, Follow the Ink.

In order to obtain a Hook Mine, you will either have to retrieve it via looting in the open world or purchase it at the Black Market. Regardless of how you obtain this item, once you have a Hook Mine, backtrack to the canal in Upper Cyria where the skiff is located. Here, there is a harmless civilian fishing. On his left, if you are standing directly behind him, is a steep cliff.

Take out the Hook Mine and set it to "lethal" by holding . Now throw the Hook Mine anywhere on the stone railing to the civilian's left. After a few seconds, the mine will pull the civilian in, and then toss him down the cliff. The achievement will unlock once the NPC has flown at least 40 meters.

One place to easily unlock this is in the second mission. Head to the canal area (past the mime) and down to the end where there is a guy fishing. Ignore him. Head across the bridge/dam wall next to him to a small area with a crane. There is a huge dropoff next to where you are. Save your game. Set your Hook Mine to lethal and throw it onto the hook on the end of the crane. Now you want to aggro someone and get them to chase you over to here. The fisherman might work, but I had better luck with a guard. Once the guard is chasing you, run back to this plaza and stand past the crane. The guard will run toward you, the hook mine will grab them and should shoot them way into the air over the dropoff to unlock the achievement.

Some people have suggested that you can simply throw a hook mine onto the stone pylon near the fisherman and have it grab and launch him to unlock the achievement (I've seen video of it working), but whenever I tried it I found that his body invariable ran into the pillar or broke into pieces without flying off (one time half of his body went flying into the void, but apparently the wrong half since the achievement didn't unlock). The crane hook placement worked perfectly the first time.

This one was a little tricky but I got it to work after snagging this dude and sending him tumbling over the other side of the bridge.

the simplest option. I tried for a long time to throw someone off the roof of a bank, but it didn’t work https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_c...&v=qIKcPaHei-U

This method only works if you switch the mine to lethal mode by holding L2

There is another way. You need two mines, one in lethal mode, the other in normal mode. We knock out someone with a regular mine, load a lethal one and attach it to the dude who was knocked out. He won't die from this. Then we grab the guy and just walk the required distance with him.

Personally, I knocked out on the fourth level, third floor, terrace. We throw a mine to the ceiling as far as we can, sitting above the six sisters of the Oracle, our achievement.

PS To get the achievement you need to upgrade mines on the black market.
