How to unlock the Assassin Vs. Machine achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide

[I do not claim this is the optimal path, but this path will work to get the achievement.]

First, select Train Runner on NORMAL. At the start use Blink and aim right above the catwalk. Sprint a few steps, then use Blink again to shoot yourself over the gap to where the purple catwalk is and keep following the path til you see a set of stairs. The trick is to go up the stairs, climb up the train bumper and wall so you can Blink to the train passing by. If done right, all you need to do is keep moving forward while the train is going and Blink a couple more times til you get to the arrival way point.

Below is a video I captured to demonstrate how to do it.

Mr Yac said:
Apparently it was glitched, after trying several more times figured i'd give good ole cache clearing a try and my first run with a fairly poor time of 34'24 it popped, so for anybody getting a time that should be good enough and no achievement give clearing a try.

Same, I score 32075 and still dont get the achievement. By station does it mean the bit where the big doors open, so you need to blink into that area before the front of the train passes through? Great vid btw, thankyou

My theory above is incorrect, I just beat the train through the doors, scored 32336 and still the achievement ddnt unlock. It must be glitchy because I beat the train by miles

When I shot that video I used a silver account just to show the achievement unlocking and that was right after I unlocked it on my main account. It could be glitchy but it unlocked fine for me.

Well I just got the achievement after getting a time of 31"25 and 32,951 pts. I literally did nothing differently apart from blink through the small hole you go through right at the end. No idea why it unlocked this time and not before. Thanks for the reply STLfan, I think the guide is perfect but the achievement may be temperamental

I got around the 33 second mark five times without the achievement popping. Cleared my cache, redownloaded the update, got 33.47 seconds first try and the achievement unlocked. Thanks for the video.

I cleared my cache, had to download the update, re-did the level in 33,05. That should be fast enough, right? Still no achievement...Any other suggestions?

i was initially unable to get the achievement after clearing my cache. then i tried 2 things during the same run and one of them worked. first, after clearing the cache, if i didn't think i was going to make it, i restarted the challenge. so if you hear the brakes squeal, restart. a few people in the comments here seem to have gotten it on the first try after clearing, so maybe that has something to do with it. the next thing sounds silly, but i read a comment somewhere and thought i would give it a try. instead of blinking into the finish line, i blinked right in front of it and sprinted in. my path was along the right side, onto the train, under the roof along the rails and under the door.

Couldn't get it despite posting a time of 30.02, so I cleared my cache and did it in 31.62 which popped the achievement. Thumbs up from me for the "clear your cache" advice!

I cleared my cache, had a good run, no chieve. Cleared it again, had another good run after several failed attempts and it popped. Good solution.

Took me a couple tries but this was pretty straightforward. Just make it on the train and blink forward before it at the end

If you want to double your magic for the expert trial, just use blink and deplete your mana then restart. The game doubles your mana making it a lil easier. If it resets when dying, just use blink and restart again. Works every time!

Agree with STLfan2468. Must clear your cache to get the achievement. It actually popped for me with a slower score after clearing my cache 35"34. Thanks for the video!

I got a score of 33XXX and 30.79 seconds and it didn't pop, so I cleared the cache as suggested, redownloaded and installed the dlc, got 33972 in 30.49 seconds and still no achievement. I don't get it, that's 39th on the leaderboards, and I beat the train significantly. Great video STL, btw, was a nice template to go by.

In order to even complete Train Runner, you need to shoot for about a 36 second completion time(though it varies*), and in order to beat the train, you need to finish about a second/second and a half faster. Do not worry if you are really close to finishing and you hear the trains brakes stop, as there is still a fraction of a second of leeway between when the train's brakes stop, and when you must complete the challenge. Only once you have crossed the white threshold and the challenge complete screen comes up, will the achievement pop for you.

*The time needed to beat the train seems to vary player by player. Whether that is the games mechanics, or it's a glitch is unclear.

Head straight from the start, blink to the back right so you can go through the table and end up passed the covered area. Keep going RIGHT, agility jump up to a roof covering a purple lantern area, and blink from there down to the lower area. Jump the small gap (this area has the giant wheels on Expert), then sprint up the slope. Follow the video from here until you reach the train station. Once you reach the station; from the staircase, blink on top of the small structure in front of you, and then blink straight ahead to the roof above the trains tracks that is between you and the finish line.
