That's not true K B Weyland - you can interact and let Slackjaw take care of the Pembleton's you just need to avoid all contact with Granny Rags. As long as you avoid contact with Granny Rags that gate in mission 7 is not locked. Seraphim's guide works a treat, i just finished my second playthrough and unlocked all said achievements.

I have (and can provide screenshots) completed all missions 100% stealthy without alarming or killing or alerting anyone. At least, that's what the mission stats say. However, Ghost and Clean Hands didn't pop :(

Nice user name, my friend. And by the way, does knocking guards unconscious count as "killing" them? Because I just did a run through of the prison break level, and I pretty much snuck behind half of the guards and knocked them unconscious, and at the end I got "not detected" but It said I killed a bunch of enemies. I was really confused. Any guidance?

@Seraph Xero
It's okay to "knock" them unconscious holding RB. Kills must have happened by different means. Guards can fall and die or get eaten by rats. Always make sure to put the bodies in safe places.

The first mission (=Prologue = "Dishonored") doesn't count towards this achievement, so everything will be fine.

Oh, so the 'escaping from prison and through the sewers mission' doesn't count?
That would be fantastic

Hm, does "no one but the key targets" mean you HAVE to kill the key targets to get this chievo?

Didn't pop for me, but I got Clean Hands instead.

Actually I think I may be wrong with that since I didn't get the achievement.

Really helpful FYI. On Mission 2 there is a MUCH easier copy of the Branding Instructions to find. As soon as you climb through the window into the overseers office building, go into the first room on the right (interrogation room). Blink up the bars on the right, and its on the desk.

Based on what I've read, all these types of achs must be done in a playthrough. Mission Select voids the achievement.

just followed this guide and finished my low chaos run through.

Firstly this video guide was excellent and actually made the game much more interesting than my intial gungho run through.

However whilst "Shadow" and "mostly flesh and steel" unlocked "Clean hands" & "Ghost" did not.

As I said, I followed the guide exactly, no mission select. My mission stats all show no kills and no detects!!
Ive heard that dealing with Granny rags in mission 7 glitchs these achievemnts, but that whole part was missing from the runthough. Does anybody have any ideas

Great solution. Very helpful. All related achievements popped. Only problem I had was an alarm after branding Campbell thus I had to wait and knock out 2 guards that patroled thru that room before escaping.

I fanily get "ghost" and "clean hands" today after 3 perfect stats runs... i realize that kills/seens in the hound pit 2.5 'learn about sweepers' also count for this cheevo even if there is no stat screen at the end of this level. There are two plagued walkers in this level. Just neutralize them like in the video...

I was having the same problem with the overseer mission. I followed the excellent videos as well as I could but at the end it still gave me an alarm and no Ghost. I tried IHeartParamore's suggestion about knocking out the guard and was able to get Ghost on this level. Strangely, it still said 1 alarm raised. These videos are very good. +1 and I'll be following you on YouTube.

I've used your guide twice and got spotted once, my stats say. I'm sure I wasn't spotted (got many save files and restarted it as soon as I saw it happen). Now I didn't kill anyone but didn't get the achievement for that one (the no kills at all). Is this a bug?

great guide! only thing I will say is that on the overseer mission I had to knock the guy patrolling the branding chair to get ghost and shadow to be checked. other than that got everything on the guides after the game ended. thanks for a wonderful video set!

Ok, apparently this game has one of the worst save features I've ever seen. When I was at the main menu I went into the missions section and it showed the first two missions I completed and my stats. Obviously it showed ghost and never killed anyone checked on both. I knew since I had those done I could delete all those previous OLD save files to make room for the new mission ill be working on. Once I deleted the unnecessary save files I went back into missions and noticed there were no more stats showing for those two missions I completed. I am able to continue my current progress but just didn't realize the missions select is based off files I could delete. Surely it's still tracking my ghost and never killed anyone stats even though it doesn't show in the missions screen? Any help would be much appreciated.

Just something that might be worth adding for the High Overseer Campbell mission. When I did it, after I escaped the office and started making my way to Samuel I saw on the subtitles (I was too far away to hear the sound) someone shout "Alarm!". Sure enough, when I completed the mission, I had been seen. The way I fixed this was to wait after branding Campbell, on the beam you waited on in your video, and as soon as the guard who enters the room is a step away, hit him with a sleep dart. This prevents him from spotting Campbell and running around getting someone to set off the alarm. Naturally, hide his body in the interrogation room and close the door.

To summarise: 1) Turn on subtitles, it may help you know if someone sounds an alarm after you've left the area, thus you can reload an old save and rectify the situation

2) After you brand Campbell, incapacitate the guy who enters the room shortly after, just to be safe.

Many are finding that "Ghost" and "Clean Hands" are glitched. It isn't glitched. If you went through the whole game w/o killing anybody and never being detected (check mark on stats screen) but both didn't pop at the end, chances are good you either choked out or sleep darted Granny Rags in the flooded district.

If you are going for a "Shadow", "Clean Hands", and "Ghost" run. I highly recommend you bypass ALL Granny Rags side missions. If you skip those missions, not only will you save time but you will also bypass the Granny Rags and Slack Jaw ending during the Flooded District episode.

If you find yourself reading this after doing the Granny Rags missions in the High Overseer Campbell episode. Don't panic. It is still possible to grab the key from Granny and not be detected. It is tough, but possible. You can bend time (rank 2) and blink to the door. Open the door and quickly shut it before time returns to normal. It will take you several tries but it can be done. Keep a save in case you were detected.

The Nex recommends another tactic when stealing the key from Granny. Go back out the same way you came in. Technically would be easier since it is a shorter route.

It just takes practice. The problem is sometimes granny would detect me for some reason. I would rush to the end of the board thinking I got it, only to find out I was detected.

You can also use the door you came in. It's a lot faster (and easier).

I got ghost and clean hands last night. Following other guides, I tried to choke her and put her in the room upstairs, but she automatically head butts you. Something to do with a recent patch, no doubt.
I ended up blinking behind her (when she's talking to slackjaw), stopping time, steal key (rags "detects" this but not in the way that voids 'ghost'), double-jump+blink to the room upstairs (you can just make it holding down 'climb'), stop time again, go into locked room, break floor boards and take the water current all the way back to the beggining.
The boss "music" plays the rest of the way. Stat screen says I was never detected and didn't kill nobody.
Received ghost and clean hands at the end of the game.

Just a quick add on to anybody struggling with the Granny Rags problem. I was faced with this as I had blindly done one of her quests. I was pretty sure I'd blown the cheev for sure. However I decided to have a go at one of the methods alluded to in an earlier solution. Firstly I sneaked upstairs to get the Health/ Power charge bottles, and maxed my power gauge. Next I sneaked back down and waited for Granny to stand by the pot. Then I sneaked up to steal the key. The trick is to exit from the door you came in by. You will need to blink to the door itself and then further down the corridor. Granny will still shout her profanities, but if you keep heading back to the gate, all is good. The only problem is that you won't know until you end the level if it has worked. All I'm saying is that this worked for me. A complete replay may not be necessary, but you may need to do this a few times!! Good luck :)

Wait.. why don't just go with Granny's suggestion and stew Slackjaw? That doesn't void the achievement.

Thanks mate! I was going for Clean Hands as well as Ghost on the same run, and hadn't realised that by doing a couple of side missions I'd be forced into their encounter. This guide was really helpful; I blinked down from the top, stopped time, stole the key and blinked back the way I came. Was in the water by the time Granny started shouting. Looking at end of level stats now: no kills and never detected are both checked.

Thanks again!

This is less a solution, and more a suggestion for those who are researching the most efficient way to obtain a complete on Dishonored. Most guides on this site, and others, suggest doing Ghost, Clean Hands, Shadow, Just Dark Enough, and Mostly Flesh and Steel in a singular playthrough.

I followed that suggestion and completed them all on my first playthrough (low chaos), then went guns blazing for high chaos on the subsequent play. What I found personally, is that when you're allowed to kill everyone, the powers are less of a focus, and more an afterthought. If i could do it again I would save Mostly Flesh and Steel for the high chaos run, and utilize powers when trying to sneak by everyone. Most notably powers such as an upgraded blink, and the ability to see enemy directions through walls would have been extremely valuable, and time saving, on the low chaos run. Having an upgraded blink alone allows you to skip some small sections, and pass great heights and distances in difficult locations.

So if you have not yet played Dishonored, or are about to tackle all of the aforementioned achievements in a single run, consider saving yourself some time and headaches by saving Mostly Flesh and Steel for the high chaos playthrough.

Also, some of the solutions above have excellent suggestions such as not purchasing powers at all, and to save collection items and quests for the high chaos playthrough.

Useful few tips:

I GOT Ghost, Shadow, Clean Hands, Just Dark Enough and Mostly Flesh and Steel in ONE walkthrough HOW?

1-I played on EASY.

2-Save a file at the start of every mission and KEEP it.

3-IF you got your stats at the end of the mission and there is no tick on ghost or Don't kill anyone box DON'T replay what you have to do is LOAD up the saved file that you did at the start of the mission.

4-Don't go for Bones or any other COLLECTIBLEs.

5-Save every time you pass 5 mins of gameplay or even less it FREE.

6-Don't Purchase ANYTHING .

7-You can pass all the missions without alerting any ALARM EXCEPT there is an electric alarm in mission 6 (Return to the Tower) to disable it you have to have the key of the broadcast tower however I couldn't find it so What I did I went through the bedroom and unlocked the safe the CODE is 935 and got the details and the went through the tower the alarm rang However I still got Ghost box ticked at the stats.

8-Don't through (glass, bottles, ...etc) to lure enemies.

Any further help during your walkthrough please comment and I will help you.

A quick add on to this.

No matter what any guide or website says, YOU CANNOT KILL OR DART a Wolfhound. Those are the only things I killed, no humans, no weepers, and did not get Ghost or Clean Hands.

Replayed from a save I luckily had in Chapter 7 on, and got it. Dogs will NOT show up on any statistics, and you will mistakenly assume you should get it.

EDITED:
By the way, this also means sleep darts. Apparently the knock out is too much for those damned dogs. Kills em.

04 Aug 2013 20:40

Alerts come when the awareness meter above an enemy's head turns red and they start shooting at you. As for not killing anyone, learn to blink passed enemies, utilize your sleep bolts for your crossbow ( + to the top left), you'll know they're sleep darts because they're green. Also be sure you use knockout takedowns by holding when you're behind an enemy. One last tip would be to hold while you're knocking them out so you catch them as they collapse, otherwise they'll fall to the ground and possibly alert nearby enemies.

Whenever you finish a mission, it shows two boxes at the bottom for killing or alerting people. You must complete the entire game with both of those boxes checked for every mission. You cannot replay them later, it must be in one playthrough. If you messed up you must replay the level (do not exit the game and try mission select, it does not work). It's obviously best to play this on easy. Some people prefer to be able to upgrade and use powers, while most people wish to stack this, Clean Hands, and Mostly Flesh and Steel together. If you are using a rune you are voiding your achievement. So do not upgrade Blink if trying to stack these achievements.

Check here for tips on how to get Clean Hands, Mostly flesh and Steel, and Ghost all in one playthrough.
