How to unlock the Inhabitant achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide

just another quick edit (i hate doing those:p) but just an FYI that Woody is xx was in fact the first person to post a soloution and his method did work i just happened to find an easier one so for the sake of giving credit where it's due i have given it as such :), now for an easier way all you have to do is take control of a rat and then crawl inside of a vent, you won't shift back until you're back out of the vent so just stay in there for 3 minutes and crawl back out and you're all set.

not usually one to edit things but people seem to be confused so i'll clarify that you need to change back into Corvo for the achievment to pop, so set a timer for 3 minutes when you're in the vent then crawl out and achievment done.

hopefully that is all the editing that need be done, i didn't bother with much detail because honestly i assumed it was easy enough to figure out once the basics of it were sorted out

Smart!...i told people to look at your guide before i talked about the way i did it! I was always afraid that if the time ran up while you were in a rat tunnel youd die lol so i never tested it!

heh, i had the same fear at first but i figured it would at least be fun to watch Corvo explode in the vent so it was worth a try :)

Also, just a note: I'm not sure if this is the same for everyone, but for me the achievement only unlocked after the possession ENDED, not at the three minute mark. Just something I noticed for people who aren't sure.

Good point Blargby! Keep track of the time manually and exit after 3 minutes!

Blargby has a very important point.

Yes, Blargby's comment should be added to the solution. I left it for like 5 minutes and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the achievement, but it pops after you exit. Otherwise, this a great solution, and definitely the easiest way to get this cheevo!

Great solution, but please change the wording to say, 'The guide by Woody is xx works just fine'. He keeps getting thumbs down by idiots who haven't realised that he posted the original solution two days before you figured out this clever exploit.

I deleted it because it had negative votes and was useless to keep up...i also deleted almost all my guides except 3 that were actually helping people

Sorry to see that... I always look at the post date for a solution. If guides are similar, I typically only like the first and not the re-hash of someone else's idea. Only when a solution is shtako will I down-vote.

Good one... I think I have a seriously down-voted solution out there but I'm too lazy to delete it.

no clue Readytk, but I've got to wonder why it would matter?

and I pretty much never down vote unless it's obvious somebody just typed some stupid nonsense like the achievement description just so they could be the first one up.

Rather than "above/below" just mention the guide by "Woody is xx". Also, at this very moment, I'm seeing if it works with a fish (I'm sneaking to the art dealer's location in the "House of Pleasure" mission - I went around back, possessed a fish (which is another achievement unto itself), swam into a "drain" and am waiting right now. Verdict is - Achievement unlocked!

Haha thats usually what i do too but there were five solutions when i deleted mine and mine was at the bottom of the list because it had the lowest vote ratio so i said screw it lol..it didnt bother me so much though cuz im not a solutiom whore i just like helping people out ..if you look at the first winners list i was also the 3rd person om TA and probably not many people before that in the whole world because i wamted to figure out how to do this achievement legit which i did succeed in lol

I made a guide a little while ago that shows how to do this one, along with another couple in quick succession.

So hopefully it's helpful, it's pretty simple and can be done on the first proper mission.

In case anyone needs it here's a real easy way to do this just follow the video guide and you'll have it with no problem.

Buy the Possession power with three runes. Use possession on a rat and then move into a vent. (Rats don't live long enough to stay possessed for long enough to complete the achievement unless they are forced to by being in a vent.) After three minutes emerge and use possession again to cancel it.

Possess a rat, and go into a rat tunnel (this will also earn you the Creepy Crawly trophy). Stay inside the rat tunnel for 3 minutes, then come out. The trophy will pop after you come out and stop possessing the rat.

Once you have at least Possession rank 1, find a huge swarm of rats (pretty common later on), possess one of them via , wait for him to die, possess another, and keep going until the achievement pops. Make sure you have a good amount of mana potions beforehand as it will require about 9 rats to achieve. The period in which you must possess is accumulative. You do not have to do it for 3 minutes straight (it is impossible anyways). This can be done on animal targets at level 1 and human targets at level 2.
