How to unlock the Rats and Ashes achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide
Hi guys,
This achievement can be won on the first chapter, after you find the imprisoned workers they will tell you where to find the keys to their cell. Head to the warehouse opposite their cage, two arc mines will be on the table next to the key. Go back to the cage, there will be three rats in the corner. Just stick an arc mine to one and lure the guards over to get this achievement. For anybody who needs a visual aid, click here.

I could not understand most of what the first guy was saying.......almost sounded like he was drunk or was talking with his tongue out of his mouth, esp after he got out of the warehouse after getting the mines then the video cut to where the rats were......got me lost.....sorry down vote from me.....

A few minutes into the second chapter, you have to free a woman from the Hatter gang.
Make a save, because you might use up a few bullets or healing potions.
Kill the first guy and you'll then be chased by three Hatter thugs. Don't run too fast away from them, but head the way you came in, and down some steps into the street. Make sure you are being followed. Find a rat that's nearby, ready an arc mine and then aim at the rat and hit LT. You should see the mine on the rat. If you're lucky, the rat will run toward a hatter thug and kill him.
If not, reload the checkpoint and try again.
It took me three attempts.

I was able to get this right in the beginning of the second chapter. When you go up the stairs and run into your first enemies, stay on the high ground to your right. There's a pack of three rats there. Jump down, hit one of them with the arc mine and then dance around the rat until one of the guards pursues you. As soon as he gets in range the arc mine will go off. Poof!

The easiest way to get this is to find rats near a guard and have the guard see you. Stay near the rats and throw the mine on to one of the rats when you think he is close enough. Make sure you stay near the rats till it detonates. I got this one on the second level near the first wall of light, the rats where to the left of the wall.
This achievement requires you to attach an arc mine to a rat, and for it to then be triggered by an enemy who is killed by it. Arc Mines are similar to the Spring Razors in the main game, but they disintegrate enemies instead of just killing them.
The first place you will find arc mines, is in the barracks in the yard of the Rothwild Slaughterhouse in the very first level. You will find some workers who are being held prisoner in this area and they will ask you to set them free and tell you where the key is, the key is in the same room as the mines.
A great place to actually get the achievement in this level (though I'm sure there are countless opportunities) is right at the end of the level, when you are told to meet up with
Billie Lurk. Small spoilers follow.
Billie has been caught by a group of Overseers, one with a music box. On the ground right behind the music box Overseer, is a rat. I killed the music box Overseer with an arrow, then jumped down when the other Overseers were facing the opposite direction, placed a mine on the rat and waited to be spotted. As soon as an Overseer began to run at me, he was disintegrated.

Also in the beginning of the last mission, once you climb up to the very top, go outside the window which leads to the place where you
right besides the Queen's statue, go to the very bottom and you'll see and exit from that area leading into an opening, then go to the left where an assassin is being held, kill the Music Box overseer then lead the last guy to the very left where there's a horde of Rats, and just strap a few Arc Mines to them and one will get him eventually.

Fairly simple. Equip an Arc Mine in your left hand and attach it to any rat using , assuming the rat is around potential victims. The victim has to be human; other rats or enemies do not count.
