How to unlock the Versatile achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide

You need to kill characters with the following weapon and offensive gadgets:
- Crossbow Bolt
- Regular Bullet
- Explosive Bullets
- Grenade
- Sticky Grenade
- Springrazor
- Corvo's Folding Blade (maybe any Blade will work)

If you don't have the Sticky Grenade Blueprint:
- Mission 05: Before entering Boyle’s mansion, look around for a guard station at the gate near the entrance. Inside, you can find a blueprint on the guard’s desk.
- Mission 07: Look inside the building filled with armed criminals, and search the wrecked hallway for this blueprint.

Explosive Bullets Blueprint Location
- Mission 06: Search the General’s office in the Dunwall Tower interior area. His is one of the four central offices up the stairs.
- Mission 07: Enter the Central Rail Station, look inside a crashed train car to find this hidden blueprint.

Posted by Ask17: Just a little note. I believe you need to assassinate a character from behind to get the kill for Corvo's blade. I had to attempt this twice. The first time I just slashed enemies face-to-face and I didn't get the achievement. The second attempt I executed an enemy from behind and got the achievement.

Posted by DillionDayFor those that are having trouble with this achievement. I suggest trying to a kill with the *explosion* from a exploding bullet. I aimed at the ground in front of a weeper an *POP* went the achievement.

it worked for me (video) and two of my bros. You have every W+G used on a ennemy?

Any idea where you get explosive bullets? I just finished the game and never saw them.

Oh, based on the previous comment, maybe I missed a blueprint. Off to look for a list. I don't think I ever had sticky grenade either.

2 points: You definitely don't need to use Incendiary Bolts - I just popped the Achievement without using them at all.

And you don't need to assassinate someone to get the 'blade' part of it - I stabbed someone in the face who was looking right at me.

Here's something that hasn't been mentioned, or maybe I don't understand: If I do mission replay and start on Mission 7, to collect all 3 blueprints at once, must I continue on into mission 8 to see Piero so he can use the blueprints to make those things for me?

Or is there some way I can get those items in Mission 7 once I find the Blueprints?

I was planning to do just what you said, replay 7 and do my killing in 8.

I did this on mission 8 after knocking everybody out with the arc pylon and just using the weapons on the unconscious bodies.

I can confirm that you need to get them with splash damage from the exploding bullet. I knocked everyone out w/ the arc pylon, shot them with it and nothing happened. Reloaded, shot near one of them, two of them died and it popped.

The other strategy with the exploding bullets is just to blast a stronger enemy directly from mid range. Normal bullets aren't always a one-hit kill beyond short range (depending on upgrades and the enemy) and it seems that beyond mid range the splash damage is more significant than the bullet damage. I shot a weeper directly at short range and the achievement didn't pop. Two minutes later, shot an assassin directly at a mid range and it did.

Just like others above, i also had to kill an enemy with the splash damage of the exploding bullets. Shooting directly at the enemy doesn't work.

Does it all have to be in the same playthrough, or can I replay missions etc.?

Achievement didn't pop, do they have to be conscious or can they be knocked out?

I had trouble getting this to pop even after following all the tips here. It turns out you have to also get a kill with the Sticky Grenade without sticking it to your target. A direct stick won't count, unless it also kills another nearby enemy.

I had the problem of not getting the cheevo to pop when shooting exploding bullets directly at the enemies. Killing them with splash damage by shooting nearby floors or walls, will indeed pop it. I think the game probably actually requires death by splash damage for those.

Your description on where to find the sticky grenade blueprint on mission 5 pretty much sucks. Here's a video that I found helpful, but I would recommend playing the video with the sound off. His voice pretty much sucks too. I can't tell if he's actually Jamaican or if he's faking the accent. Either way, it's very hard to listen to.

Just a heads up, you must retrieve your gear in Mission 7 (The Flooded District), as you cannot create explosive bullets without having Corvo's pistol in your inventory. A regular pistol does not work.

Its worth mentioning you must kill guards. Weepers will not work, I killed 4, 2 with explosive bullets and 2 with stickys and no achievement. Killed guards with them and it popped

You should also look into changing the wording on were the blueprint is on mission 5. I was looking inside the black and red guard stations as those are guard stations. Instead say its in the room were your invitation is accepted. Also if I remember correctly you need the invitation or at least be let in as you can be let in without an invite

i now this is extremely old. You have to kill someone with the EXPLOSION of the Explosive Bullet not the Bullet itself.

Were the locations in your guide there from the beginning? If so, I missed it. The fact they are both in chapter 7 is pretty cool. Maybe I should have just replayed from there? Anyway, thumbs up from me for that info (could care less about the video). I really wish I had been paying attention, as sadly this was a Redbox rental and I already too it back. Oh well. I might buy it someday when the price drops and/or it goes platinum.

Just a heads up, you need to have purchsed Corvo's pistol upgrade in order to buy and use the bullets. The total is 600 for the pistol upgrade and 600 for the bullet upgrade.

If you're still having trouble after getting a kill with every weapon, try cooking a grenade (hold left trigger without releasing it) while standing right behind an enemy. I think maybe getting a grenade kill from too far away doesn't count.

You must get this in one playthrough; if you reload an earlier level, you may void it, like I did.

For example, I got a kill with the explosive bullet, but missed picking up the sticky grenade blueprint in the previous mission, so I couldn't get a kill with it. So I reloaded "Lady Boyle's Last Party" and got the sticky grenade blueprint, and got a kill with it in the next level - however, I didn't get the Achievement until I played through that entire level again, getting the explosive bullet blueprint once again and then getting a kill with it in the following mission against an assassin (after retrieving all of my items).

I hope that made sense, and hopefully it helps someone out there. Basically put, make sure not to miss the blueprint pickups for the sticky grenade and explosive bullets, otherwise you're going to have to reload from Mission 5 and play all the way through to Mission 7 again.

Here's an achievement video for all those who may need it, it shows the location of the blue prints that are required for this achievement as well as a quick walk through for what you actually need to do.to get it.

Video-guide to get the achievement Versatile. For this you must kill an enemy with every weapon of the game. There are 2 of them that can only be unlocked with blueprints: Sticky Bombs (Mission 5) and Explosive Bombs (Mission 7). In this video I show you the location of these 2 blueprints.

High Chaos

This achievement has had some people become frustrated. It is believed by some that you must kill human enemies only. Here is the list of weapons you must use. My opinion is strong to say that killing with any blade is fine. This is because there is an Overseer Blade and an Assassin's Blade. Both of them are found in the Flooded District but not both of them can be obtained at the same time. Also, there is a dueling pistol during Mission 5 that you can only shoot during a duel while completing a side objective. I also do not believe this is required.

City Watch Sword - This is obtained in Coldridge Prison right after you escape.

Corvo's Folding Blade - Automatic and is what you use almost the full game

Overseer Blade/Assassin's Blade - These are found in Mission 7: The Flooded District but cannot both be equipped, therefore my conclusion they are not part of the list.

City Watch Pistol/Corvo's Pistol - You will find this in the prison and beyond, extremely hard to miss. Corvo's pistol is just the upgraded City Watch pistol.

Upgrade: Explosive Bullet - This is an upgrade that is only obtained when discovering the required blueprint. You buy the ammo and it is a separate icon than regular bullets.

Necessary Blueprint locations:
(Note: Picking up a blueprint with multiple locations, will make it disappear from all locations)

Mission: House of Pleasure
Item: Incandescent Paste; Incendiary Bolt Blueprints (Location 1)
Location: Use the valve-controlled door located within the Distillery to reach the blueprint

Mission:Lady Boyle's Last Party
Item: Spiked Grenade Housing; Sticky Grenade Blueprints (Location 1)
Location: Before entering the Mansion through the side entrance (which enters into the main hall and staircase), take a left and enter a side door into a guard's room to find the blueprints on a table.

Mission: Return to the Tower
Item: Small-Scale Combustion Refinement; Explosive Bullets (Location 1)
Location: Once you're inside Dunwall Tower, check the rooms on the second floor, and you will find this in the General's office.

The Flooded District
Item 1: Spiked Grenade Housing; Sticky Grenade Blue prints (Location 2)
Location: Inside the Thug's basement with a partially destroyed passageway

Item 2:Incandescent Paste; Incendiary Bolts (Location 2)
Location: In the lower level cellar near the exit from the Gateward Tunnels.

Item 3: Small-Scale Combustion Refinement; Explosive Bullets (Location 2)
Location: In the crashed railcar you pass by as you exit the rail station, and just before reaching the main area with Daud, and tons of Assassins.
