How to unlock the Void Star achievement in Dishonored - Definitive Guide

This is very annoying one as you dont really get any clue how to achieve 30K, so you have to keep replaying the challenge until you figure out what you need to be able to get 30K Score

The Requirements are:

NORMAL

Mystery Foe:
-Don't kill anyone stunt them, there is four guards cycling around try to stunt only 3 or less. (I left 2 Unconscious).
-Don't use powers.
-Collect all the clues asap.
-Kill your target in less than 3'00 minutes.
-If your target is someone that is standing beside another one try to get close to him and then stunt him first then kill him.
-Be aware from the guard that is walking in the middle of the party between the two rooms in straight line, memorize his movement or Unconscious him.

Back Alley Brawl:
-Survive till round 9-12 depends on kills and streaks.
-The more you kill will give you the 30k in less amount of rounds.
-Kill the yellow dude quickly to get potions.
-Do fatality and headshots with the crossbow to get higher streak that will put you on 30k by round 7!
-Use the air assassination to kill the torturer and the tall guy.
-Tall guy is the problem try to jump on him always get to the top and jump on him.

Oil Drop:
-Survive till round 4-5 depends on how many tanks destroyed.
-Always aim for yellow.
-The pistol has 3-5 rounds so you have to use them all before the next drop start .

Kill chain:
-If you did all the bonus you able to get 30k before round 4!
-Whenever you get 30K you can fail the round and leave the challenge.
-Differ your kills.

Bend Time Massacre:
-Same as the one above however its a bit harder.
-Use more than one way to kill your enemies(explosion, headshot,...etc ).
-DON'T use the speaker you won't get much score.
-Mostly use grenades and oil tanks.

Bonfires:
-This one is random random means it depends on luck!
-You will get 10s for the first 5 beams and 5s for the rest.
-You get 1500 for the fast and 2000 for the very fast one.
-You need about 20+ beams to get this.

Train Runner:
-Less than 34 seconds. (mine at 32.50!).
-You need to use blink the time you start go right open the door blink twice go left side above the tube double jump then to the broken train bridge jump and then jump the table and break the door speed up and take a blink to the front fence speed then last blink above the train fence to the right before you get to the door and double jump at the same time.

Kill Cascade:
Double jump blink once and kill the third gut then take a blink to the other side now you will see a boat flying try to get there by double jumping and then blink twice to reach the yellow taller and kill him now you will be on 10k which is amazing go to the top building and do your 150m jump and kill the servant.

Assassin's Run:
-You need to kill the first six guard as fast as you can to get your score 10k+ if not restart.
-If you did so you will get 2500 x5 or x6 so you can hit 10k+ by this point
-Do the same thing with the zombies to get x5
-then you need x2 after that save the civilian and quickly kill the stair guard u dont need headshot here.
-You need bit of luck killing the last 3 guards make sure to get x2 at least.

Burglar:
-You have to collect 3000+ coins and rare objects NO need for figurines.
-Don't stunt more than 2 (I did unconscious 2 only).
-If for example that the Sokolve painting gives you 1000 if all are awake however it will give you Less if someone is unconscious and so on.
-The vision is the key here take your time and you will be fine.

EXPERT

Mystery Foe:
-Same as normal exactly however its a bit easier as you can collect the clue by pickpocket which will save you lots of time.

Back Alley Brawl:
-Same strategy for normal.

Kill Cascade:
-Same run as normal HOWEVER when you get to the top of the flying boat there will be flying objects that will prevent your way from the taller guy what you need to do here is double jump and blink once then try to dodge the objects here you may blink for another time if you needed
-last huge jump don't do it unless you have enough Mona as the whole is thinner and here you may die so look carefully and blink right before you get that curved tube.

Train Runner:
-You get different amount of mona everytime you respawn so when you start sprint, jump and blink if you dont have enough mona for the next jump RESTART.
-Jump and blink through the spinning wheel.
-Try to cross the next wheel by running through as this will save you half second or you can make a small jump if you couldn't make it.
-Now this is the second hard spot as here you need to pass the guard and blink over the stair side NOT the tube as you can't get over it with that distance.
-DONT walk over the stairs go to the stair side as if you walked over the stairs you will find troubles doing the double jump as you will get stucked.
-NOW wait to get enough blink to jump to the nes side over the linking bridge.
-Go left as soon as you break the wooden door double jump and go over the right side.
-If you time is 25 continue if more believe me you need to restart.
-This is the hardest thing now what I did here I tried to go over the train halt sign however I couldn't make it so I fell inside the train and got pushed by it and I did it BUT if it happen and you went over that thing sprint and go down and fall on the box NOT the floor If you have blink here you can make it though.
-I want you to know that this one is pain so you get frustrate too much I did after more than 5 hours of tries all of them 28+ and less than 30K which is really dum anyways am done with it now

Bonfires:
-Almost you need same steps for normal.
-Always go for mona.
-Do tricky jumps.
-Keep redoing and dont get bored as you need to believe that this is a based luck challenge it depends on how far the beam respawn.
-From 1000-9000 beams considered to respawn close
-From 9000-2000 they will be really far
-After That if you have more than 20s on your clock you are in a good position as the beams will respawn VERY CLOSE and you score will increase faster good luck on this one.

Burglar:
-ALL GUARDS must be awake, the time you get your 30K you can then stunt the guard if you like specially the two guards outside when you work your way out.
-Memorize the guards movement
-1st floor there is only two guard the one that walk in a straight line has a key for the main door it has an item if you opened it
-2nd floor safe combination number is in the floor that has a painting and secret it door you can call it blank floor as it has no rooms he code will be on the left side of the painting look carefully
-3rd floor is insane the way I did it is the guard that do the cycle around the floor is annoying what you need to do here is as soon as he opens the door and enter the room that has the other guard and the guard outside change his vision to the painting move and go to the door that the cycle guard comes out of here open the door and hide behind it , the time he comes to this spot again leave and collect some staff and back to it after that go and hide in the bed room area keep an eye for the guard in the veranda (I got detected here and I stunt him with the cross bow!).

Train runner on expert is impossible... You don't start out with enough mana to either make it onto the train.. Or make it to the end fast enough.

Also they don't always start you out with the same amount of mana.. Its weird. Most of the time i have enough mana to do 1 blink then it has to recharge, Other times i have enough to do 2 back to back.

All the guards in burglar on expert don't need to be awake, I achieved roughly 33k with 2 of them noticing me initiating conflict.

Nice guide, missing a lot of usefull facts. I found searching youtube for the individual levels with 30,000 scores better, especially bonfires, assassin's run. I did not know you we're supposed to choke the first 3 guys on assassin's run then headshot them by the door and continue the streak into the second room.

Hate DLC like this I think anything to do with challenges in a game is time that could have been spent extending the campaign, I personally think challenges in any game is an annoyance and these challenges are no exception.

Buy this dlc was my biggest xbox-mistake.

I don't get why everyone is so angry over this DLC. They're called challenges for a reason, and the missions are challenging, yet possible to three star if you are careful enough.

For mystery foe, you say to stunt. Do you mean stun them??? If not, how exactly do you stunt them? Thanks

Great advice for Assassin's run. If you can string together the first 6 for a x6 multiplier, then x5 the weepers and if you can make it x7 with the two guards out the door. Then the last part you can shoot the guy on the stairs, then hostage holder, then in the room and you can x4 that part. Then you can 3x the last part just to be safe. I had ok accuracy on my run with many headshots, but the combo multiplier is key.

About assassin's run :

I would had that knocking out the first 3 guys help a lot to get a 6X bonus.

Next is a wild guess but on the last room, I think that if you escape before your points are cash out, it add the bonus points from civilian, accuracy and Health to your multiplier. Went from 26K to almost 40K without that much change but that one between my two trials.

I am having trouble with Mystery Foe on Normal (I know right...one of the easier ones!) I cannot for the life of me get the Very Fast bonus. I have collected 3 clues AND air assassinated the target in 48 seconds and another time I did it was 53 seconds. NO VERY FAST BONUS ON EITHER! What am I not doing right? I am not getting detected by anyone and I make sure the body is not in someone's line of sight.

Also, I don't think I could possibly do it faster than 48 seconds while collecting 3 clues AND getting the kill.

@ Vault mate you dont have to do it under 48 seconds! I did it in less than 3mins and still got gold! just follow what I said.
I dont have the game with me anymore sorry for the limited info

Not really a tip but I was playing Bonfires Expert last tnight for a good couple of hours continually retrying when finally the Assassins failed to spawn any more so I could whip around the map freely which made it slightly easier. Think the game felt sorry for me lol! :-)

lx VAULT xl: I got it by just sliding up behind and murdering the first guard. 5th time through, he was the randomly-chosen victim.

Instant 3 stars on Normal and Expert Mystery Foe.

I found out why the train runner on expert gives variable mana: when you first launch the challenge, they only give you enough mana for one blink. If you use the blink and then restart the challenge BEFORE your mana recovers, you will restart the challenge with your mana STILL RECOVERING from the last attempt, thus boosting your mana up to 2 blinks-worth of mana. This makes this trial MUCH EASIER (I'm assuming the developers didn't think of this little glitch).

And in case you're wondering, you can't stack this glitch (ie you can't keep using mana and restarting to further boost your mana). The developers were at least smart enough to cap out the mana at just the two uses.

Tip for Train Runner on expert. When you start immediately use blink and restart. This glitches the game and gives you just enough extra mana to use blink twice.

I can confirm you can use blink on mystery foe on normal. I I used blink and found all 4 clues and finished with a time of 01'52"00 and got a score of 32883

For burglar expert is the safe combo on the painting or on the wall to the left cuz I grabbed the painting and I don't see no damn numbers! Where exactly is it?

Opposite of the weird secret room. First # is on the wall, 2nd on brick wall if you look through a crack and 3rd will be around the 1st one somewhere on the wall on the other side of the crack in the wall that had the 2nd #

Another thing for Burglar on Expert (and on Normal too I suppose), try not grabbing any loot until you get all six eggs if you can manage it. Then, once you've got the eggs, make your way back down to pick up all the treasure on your way out of the mansion.

For each egg you pick up, it boosts the amount of points each coin or treasure gives you thereafter. I don't know the exact point values, but for instance when I got all of the eggs and then picked up a coin afterward, it was giving me around 350 points for each (which normally would be somewhere in the 200's without grabbing the eggs first). This way you can easily reach the 30k needed for 3 stars, actually way over it if no guards spot you. At the very least, the boost you get from the eggs will somewhat cancel out any point decreases from detections or knockouts and will allow you to knock out more guards than you otherwise would be able to and still get to 30k. I know on my run, I was able to carefully go up through the mansion and get all 6 eggs without being detected, but then my luck ran out and I was spotted greedily snagging all the treasure on the third floor. Also got spotted again on the second floor and had to take them out too. Damn guards switching up their routes! Anyway, when all was said and done, I ended up taking out 5 guards and still got the 3 stars - even with the knockouts I was getting in the 200s per coin and after the last guard I had to sleep dart it was right around 200. If you can manage an eggs-first run without letting the guards see you, I bet you'll have 30k (or near it) with just finding half of the treasure.

I'm assuming that's how the guys on the top of the leaderboards got such high scores - no detections, grabbing the eggs first, and then stealing all of the loot.

Heads up on Burglar Expert, the scoring system is weighted toward number of items acquired rather than value of individual items. You'll still want everything you can find, but the majority of your points come from coins rather than the big-ticket items.

Figurines are worthless. Eggs have their own point system but aren't terribly valuable. Everything else gives you 200+2N at the outset, where N is the value of the item in coins. So a penny gives you 202 points, a dime gives you 220, a flask worth 30 coins gives you 260 points, and so on. So while it's necessary to pick up a painting (200 + 300*2 = 800), it's far more important that you pick up the five pennies sitting next to it for 1010 points.

The 200 point bonus attached to each pickup goes down with knockouts/kills/detections/etc. Someone head-tracking you (one lightning bolt and "Huh?") loses you five points - from then on every item you pick up is only worth 195+2N. Knocking someone out loses you 18-23 points off that bonus depending on how you do it (choking someone out loses you fewer points than shooting them with a sleep dart). Killing someone doesn't actually hurt you much worse than that.

I mention this because figuring it out changed my perspective on looting. I left some of the harder-to-get big-ticket items lying around and concentrated on coins. Why risk picking up a painting if it's in a hard place? Sure, it's worth 800 now, but even after you kill everyone in the building it's still worth over 600. You don't lose that much. On the other hand, a few extra piles of pennies go from being worth thousands to being worth nearly nothing. Go for the coins as you make your way to the top, taking big-ticket items as they present themselves. Also, if there aren't a bunch of coin piles on the bottom floor, restart. It appears to be random as to how the coins are distributed and it makes a huge impact on your score.

So I'm really not a fan of stealth... but I just managed to get 10th in the world (at the time that I am posting this) on Burglar Expert, on the first run that I ever got three stars. My bits of wisdom to those who, like me, don't really enjoy stealth puzzles, is that you really only need to do the first 2 floors 'for real', i.e. avoiding enemies rather than just crossbow-sleeping them, and these floors only have 2 patrolling enemies each, so it's really not that bad. Word to the wise: learn their patrols with Dark Vision on not-expert to save some time. Their patrols are virtually unchanged from normal, although I think that they may stop in their certain places for less time. The first floor is the easiest, and fairly self-explanatory. The second floor is only difficult in the first room, where the two guards' paths meet. The key here is to be patient (and I know, it's boring) and stay completely out of sight with at least a tiny slice of the glass doors in your view. When these open, you know that the secondary guard has just finished his business in the stair room and that you have perhaps 2 minutes before he sticks his nose into the stair room again. Use this time to get into the bedroom with the secret bookcase and the room with the safe. To avoid this nosy guard on his path back towards the stair room, get all the way to the back of the hallway with the safe and just let him walk by- he won't notice you, even on expert. I'm spending so much time on the second floor because you'll need to get the combination to the safe from the third floor and come back, thus needing to navigate this stair room twice as much as you'd normally need to navigate a room. And after you ace the second floor, just stick sleep bolts into two, or even all 3 of the third floor guards and pick up everything at your leisure. Getting out shouldn't be that bad, since your guard kills don't matter once you've passed 30k, and they can't see you when they're dead.

This just some helpful tips for Assassin's run

Knock out the 3 assassin's in the first room line them up right at the exit door. The closer their heads are together the better. Quickly shoot the 3 then go into the next room and quickly head shot the next 3. If you keep the multiplier up you can get up to 13k in those two rooms. You know the multiplier is still active when it hasn't added in the bottom left.

In the weeper room quickly blink up to one of the bookcases. The try and head shot them fast for the multiplier. After they cough is easiest. proceed through the rest of the challenge trying to head shot, not get hit and be accurate as possible. You CAN mess up though cause I sure did.

In the last room, Make sure to kill the 3 as fast as possible to get the multiplier, trying to get head shots.. but its not necessary. When they are all dead run to the exit as quickly as possible. If you exit the map with the that multiplier still active you get around 10k-12k in bonus which will put you way past the 30k mark.

I added a video from DaTscheka that shows this strategy. All credit goes to him. He messes up a lot and still gets 35k.

Hope this helps.

Never thought to put the first 3 guys asleep in the first room, pile them together near the next door, and then shoot them each in the head. Awesome tip! I had a miraculous run where I somehow managed to headshot the guy walking up the staircase! Got the three stars barely with 30,658 points. You just have to have a good run where things mostly go your way with accuracy, instincts, and quick adaptation to enemy movements and RNG.

Thumbs up from me!

Tips for Bonfires and Train Runner:

- To get a clearer view (and maybe move faster but I'm not sure about that), you can take out the sword from your screen while keeping the left hand for Blink and the gun. To do so, hold cn_X and, during the rotating sword animation, press cn_LT. This will keep the left hand out!

- In Train Runner Expert, you only get enough mana to do one Blink at a time. Anyway, it's possible to double this amount! To do so, start the challenge, Blink (cn_LT) and immediately press cn_start -> restart challenge. This will start the challenge with two times as much mana, letting you Blink twice before depleting it!

Sorry if this information was already available here, I checked and didn't found it anywhere! I found the first one in the comments of this YouTube video thanks to a comment of PensiveOregonad on Coopa Bruzz's great solution and the second one by myself!
Glitch in Bonfires Expert:

I accidentally discovered this glitch which made my 3-stars run much easier! What happened was that, after restarting a lot of times (I replayed the level for more than 3 hours), the assassins stopped spawning even after restarting the challenge!

I'm not sure why/how this happened but if you're struggling on this one, you might want to stick to it and retry a lot of times in a row instead of quitting and giving it a go from time to time; this would increase your chances of getting lucky! wink

Here's a forum with other gamers explaining the conditions in which this glitch happened for them (which are exactly the same as what I'm describing above) and I also found this video after searching about what was happening in my game:
it's only showing the glitch itself, though.

Since this is the last solution, i wll write this here.

Maybe i could make it happen, or it was (like most other had) random.

I figured that bonfires expert is waaay too hart with the assassins,
so i tried everything to make the glitch happen.
(Readed to start new when you fall down in the void etc., i tried it all,
which brings me on like 1 mio. tries)

I just keeped with the "when the screen fades, start and replay",
which had a funny glitch.

When the game starts, i gone left (on the floating platform, where the beam spawns later and the assassins walks around), killed the assassins, jump down, screen goes grey, pressed start and replay.
(I can not tell you exactly what i did), but i tried it also with an assassination from above - knife hits him, restart.
also fighting him normal, when his corpse disappears, restart.
After that, i realzied, that he won't be there from start (dont know if he spawns at all again.

So i went to the next assassin (the guy on the very left),
i guess is was him, but doing this "strategy" with him,
glitched my game that he was first on the other side looking at me when the game starts an throwing things at me,
later he was in front of me, attacking me ... in the first 3 seconds the game startet i was dead. wtf.

So, i killed him, killed 2-3 more of them,
then the assassin on the left on the floating platform was there again.
Went to him, and i am damn sure i fighted him normally,
his corpse startet to disappear, i restartet the game,
and i had no assassins at all.
(Had to restart some times [not xbox, not game, just bonfire round] and still no assassins)

At least, i can not tell you if i just found a way to make it happen,
or is was just luck, or anything.
But with the assassin starting in front of me and attacking me,
i got the thought that if you restart the round you can change something with them,
otherwise he wound be in front of me.

Hope anybody have look with this glitch and if i could help, even better.
I can maybe not tell you, because i never ever restart my xbox as long as i am not finished with all on bonfires ^^

cheers, and good luck to everyone.

In order to unlock Expert challenges, you must first complete the normal version of that challenge with at least a 2-star rating.

xK Marcus has some video guides for a couple of the challenges, HERE.
