How to unlock the Master Pin Collector achievement in Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two - Definitive Guide

There are several missable pins throughout the game so I would certainly suggest following a guide. For the most part, I followed this guide here:
http://uk.ign.com/wikis/epic-mickey-2/Walkthrough
Unfortunately, there is no complete guide that seems to cover everything so have your whits about you!

Note that you CANNOT REVISIT Dark Beauty Castle and Yen Sid's Lab.

There is 1 pin in Yen Sid's Lab for "PAINTING the picture at the end of the level." You can also thin it but this will only give you money.

There are 2 pins in the Dark Beauty Castle level. When you get into the tower where you need to work together to power the machines, you want to get to the 3rd machine and paint the wires above it and power it up. This will allow the middle part of the tower to become a series of steps.

Next, thin the same wires on the 3rd machine and the machine will blow up causing a hole in the wall. This displays a pin just behind it. DO NOT go all the way outside, just collect the pin and come back in.

Then you want to climb up the series of steps in the middle to the awning/balcony of the tower above the courtyard. There is a chest on this balcony with the other pin.

(Also note, the other missable collectable in Dark Beauty Castle are a steam boat willy costume. This is found where you throw Oswald up on to a ledge and they break forming stairs. Don't go up the stairs but instead turn around. On top of the chandelier is the collectible. Oswold should prompt to throw you up there)

Farming Scrap Metal:

Hopefully you will have reached the end of the game making the correct decisions in the side quests etc. If you keep following the IGN guide I linked above, you shouldn't have too much trouble with them and making the right decision.

You will need a large amount of scrap metal in order to buy the rest of the pins from the pin store in Main Street North. The best way to farm scrap metal is start outside the clothing store in Main Street South. Across from there, on top of the building, is a large gorilla. Thin the blocks on its arms from a platform below. This will cause a small platform to drop revealing 15 scrap metal.

The routine: Start inside the shop, Hold A and go outside again, run directly across, hop on the ledge showing and it will grab the 15 metal. Hop straight back and back into the clothing shop. And then repeat this step.

100 scrap metal = 5 gold pins.

Sorry if the layout isn't great but this game really is a messy game and I could go on for hours talking about it and advising you on which decisions to make.

If you have any questions or need help, please message me.

Nice advice. I need to start on this now as i only have 3 more achievements to go.

Just to add to the part about farming scrap metal, dressing in the Construction Worker costume throughout most of the game will help you find more metal.

I have a grand total of 163 pins, but I cannot find anymore pins and cannot buy anymore from the store. Now what? Did I mess up?

Check the ice cream shop... and a few other shops that are around. Also check the different levels like Disney Gulch (place before the first boss battle where you travel across using a tennis racket etc.), I find a few from speaking to the pirates there. They were there because I'd make a particular decision from a quest...

For the 2 pins in the Dark Beauty Castle, if you do the "paint" method can't you just purchase the other pin in the store later? i think some of the guides I have read elsewhere stated that you could buy the "grab-bags" for mystery pins and maybe eventually come across ones that you missed.

Great solution again btw. I just wanted to post here again saying that the 2 pins in the castle are not "missable". I have been doing the "good/paint" path through the game so I got the "charge-it" pin. To get the "bad/thinner" path pin from that point, I just found it in the mystery bag last night. Your solution does help if you dont want to spend any of your generic pins for it, i just wanted to point out that you don't have to restart your game if you get way past the dark castle. +1smile

I suggest you do this when you are going for the Perfectionist achievement, as you are going to get a lot of pins from the quests, and I am unsure whether failing to complete a quest will make it so that you cannot get the pin. It seems like sometimes once you have passed the point when you can get the pin you are able to buy it from the Black Bags from the pin trader, but other times the game still thinks that you can get the pin, even if the quest path has been broken. Therefore, try to do this when completing all the quests.

I don't think it matters which way you complete a quest when they have multiple paths, as long as you complete it one way you can buy the pin(s) associated with the alternate path after you have completed it.

Keep in mind that some quest paths reward you with generic pins, which are very useful. Notably, the Copernicus side of Watch the Skies gives you quite a few pins, and waking each of the ghosts for the Spirit of the Wasteland quest gives you 5 pins, so go turn those in each time you get all the pins to wake one.

If you complete and wear the Steamboat Willie costume a gold pin (worth 5 pins) will appear in most of the 2-D film strips, so play back through them for about 70 pins.

Get the Construction costume for Mickey ASAP and use it for the rest of the game because it will give you 2 pieces of scrap metal instead of 1 when you get it from breaking objects.

Try to pick up as many as you can of the pins that are available in the world in chests or by doing optional things. It seems like some of these show up in the Black Bags, but others don't. In any case, it will save you pins (and time) in the long run if you collect all the ones you can before starting to buy things. Details on some confusing pins:

Beauty is Only Thin Deep CAN be bought from the Black Bags from the pin trader, so don't despair if you missed it.

There are several pins associated with fixing the different entrances to the Underground in Mean Street North and South, and for some of them you have to do extra things. If you are missing Eradicator, Fixer-Upper, Foreman, Handymouse, or Urban Renewal you haven't fixed everything yet.

Student of the Gremlin Architecture is found by getting the cart under the train station to burst through the wall. See the guide below for details on how to do this.

Spatter Whisperer is associated with the Blot Alley Superstar achievement, so make sure that you take the friendly route through, because I do not know if this pin can be purchased afterward.

Nest Egg is associated with fixing the crow's nest in Ventureland. See the guide below for details.

Booty to the Head can be found in the Captain's Quarters if you complete the Beluga Billy side of the A Captain's Life for Me quest and can be purchased in a Black Bag if you did the Damien Salt side. If you can't buy it and did the Beluga Billy side, check there.

Wild Frontier scared me because I couldn't buy it, and it turned out that I needed to save Rigger Greene, who was on top of the train on the Lab entrance part of the Gulch. I did the Moody side of the Thanks for the Memories quest, but if you do Rigger's side and go to the Gulch, he will give it/sell it to you there.

The Manic Moose's guide to farming scrap metal is definitely the best way to get metal for purchasing pins. Some info on that: You get to the spot where you can thin/break the gorilla's arm by thinning the dirt area under the place where you'd go up to the top of that building. Oswald has to have an 2x upgraded boomerang to hit all 3 points on the gorilla's arm. You get upgrades to the boomerang by waking certain spirits for the Spirit of the Wasteland quest, so check which ones you need so that you can work toward those pins and turn them in quickly). You can still farm the scrap metal after you fix the trash compactor, so don't worry that it'll go away if you still need to access that area of the Underground to get some of the pins (I also found this to be the quickest path between South and North Mean Street). You can still farm the metal if you leave the area. It really doesn't take long to get the rest of the metal that you need (you should need somewhere around 2000 pieces of metal if you get most of the pins from chests and random things to do out in the Wasteland and get the pins from the 2-D toons using the Steamboat Willie costume.

I couldn't find one cohesive list for this achievement, so I decided to make my own. Everything seems to be full of incomplete, misleading, or incorrect information. I have attempted to make a complete list using my own playthroughs and multiple other lists. Sometimes I could not confirm whether a pin could be purchased in a Black Bag or how many pins were required (that would take several more playthroughs), but I believe all of the pins that come from quests can be purchased IF you complete the other path of that quest. If you see any incorrect info or can confirm the number of pins required for any of the black bags, please let me know, and I can incorporate that info.

The areas are listed by when you go there in the story, but that does NOT mean that all of the pins for each area will be available as soon as you get there. In fact, many will not. Pins are listed in alphabetical order by area.

@asmilonGR Thanks! I'm glad that it helped you. I remember it taking me ages of searching through various sites to try to get a good idea of where everything was, and I wanted to save other people the trouble. smile

Here is a list of all the pins needed for the achievement. I just spent 2 days trying to figure out which pin I was missing, and could not find a comprehensive list that was in any kind of order, here you go. Every pin in the game in order by the location listed in the pin store.

There are two ways to view your pins in the store, as a whole list in the Wasteland or by area the pin "should" be found. To view the areas just hit RT change location and then RB to view pages of pins.

This is just a list and does not contain info on finding them. If you are missing any double check, I had an issue where I know I picked up a pin but when I came back to the game later it did not record a handful of them even though the save icon showed before I quit.

Anybody know if you can buy the pins that you miss if you mess up perfectionist? is it still possible to get all the pins?

unfortunately there are many missable pins in this game. this is not a direct link to the walkthrough but is a link for a side quest i'm currently on: http://uk.ign.com/wikis/epic-mickey-2/Finding_the_Hidden_Her...

You may need to start a new playthrough - it is easy to miss a pin or two in Yen Sid's Lab and the Dark Beauty Castle - you can't even re-visit these places. Message me if you need more help on the pins at the start of the game. For the rest of the potentially missable pins/or missable quests if you make wrong decisions, use that link or like i said message me.

I used your guide and opened up a Word Document and pasted the ones I missed and then used IGN's guide to find the locations to them:

Maybe adding with your soultions if people need locations?

MissJaded - I used IGN and another sites guide when looking for mine, and at the time IGN had a bunch of errors in theirs, as did the other one. I refrained from posting the links so people didn't get confused from the incorrect info. There were a couple that took a few days and scouring forums to find. It has been a long while since I completed it, so I cannot confirm which ones had the issues. If others find it useful I will be more than happy to add the IGN link to my solution though. The other may have been GameFAQs or some other random site.

For some reason I didn't get the Driving miss daisy pin even though I sent Donald on his perfect date, is there somewhere in the game you can see which pins you've collected?
When I talk to Daisy she just wants Hooks clothes, but I'm not giving them over as I think they need to be sold at the museum??

Any ideas how getting the Miss daisy pin actually works? I've tried finding Donald again in case there is a post completion conversation that's needed but he seems to be absent from the game once you complete his quest?

@KinjoTheTaken you can check your pins at the pin trader. The option on the left of the cashier will show all the pins you have.

I have a strange bug. I have all but one pin, Welcome to the Gulch. But there is no black bag left to buy. Help

So I followed the (amazing) walkthrough on this site, which covered everything you could possibly want for collecting the unique pins, however it still left me with around 16-18 unique pins. It wasn't clear to me when I got there, but any pins that are missed by making different choices throughout the game appear in the 8-pin Black Bag at the trader.

16 unique pins with just the 8pin Bag = 128 more pins needed.
128 pins = 2560 scrap metal.

I most certainly was not looking forward to farming that much scrap from the areas mentioned in the guide, nor other farming suggestions I found around the place. Instead, I suggest you use the Steamboat Willie costume (details on where to get it are in the guide and elsewhere on this site). This costume makes a gold pin (worth 5 pins) appear in each cartoon film segment. You can get 15 gold pins (which equals 75 tradable pins) in roughly 30 minutes, which may or may not be faster than trying to farm 1500 scrap metal, it certainly is a lot less boring. Ontop of which, each ghost you awaken gives you another gold pin, which put me extremely close to the 128 total needed. To do this...

- Travel to the Cinema (Mean Street North, or by hitting any projector until you see a golden mickey)
- Fast Travel to each film reel
- Turn around and hit the projector to get the appropriate side (more on this below)
- Collect your gold pin
- Travel back to the Cinema by hitting the projector until you get a golden Mickey again
- Repeat

To speed this up even further, you want to have the Mickey and Oswald icons above the projector on the following sides in order to collect the pin:

Band Concert V1
Both Mickey and Oswald on the LEFT so they can both use the see-saw jump.

Building a Building V1
Mickey on the LEFT, easy to reach.

Night on Bald Mountain V1
Mickey on the RIGHT, clear the bats around the lamp.

Old Mill V1
Doesn't matter what side, pin is accessible in the top-left.

Old Mill V2
Mickey on the RIGHT, stay on the right side as you progress up.

Skeleton Dance V1
Have Mickey on the LEFT, Oswald on the RIGHT (or vice versa). Near the end of the film you need to use a skeleton boost jump.

Skeleton Dance V2
Mickey on the RIGHT, easy jump at the end.

Music Land V1
Mickey on the RIGHT, easy jump at the end.

Music Land V2
Doesn't matter what side, however it requires Oswald to fly from the harp at the end. Could not get the AI to help, had to use a second controller.

Building a Building V2
Doesn't matter what side, use the switch near the crane at the end and quickly jump onto the beam. If you miss the jump you can reach it with Oswald and a second controller.

Band Concert V2
This film has no stage and therefore no pin.

Old Mill V3
Mickey on the RIGHT, easy to reach jump.

Mickey's Service Station V1
Mickey on the LEFT, up in the clouds.

Mickey's Service Station V2
Mickey on the RIGHT, high jump off the car.

The Mad Doctor's World of Evil
Doesn't matter what side, easy to reach jump once Mickey and Oswald meet up in the middle.

Night on Bald Mountain V2
Mickey on the RIGHT, easy to reach in the top-right corner of the film.
