How to unlock the Power Up! achievement in Disney Infinity - Definitive Guide

EDIT: As of 10/3/13, a title update makes it so any power disc- round or hexagonal- will unlock this achievement. So simply place a power disc on the appropriate slot on the Infinity Base and this achievement should unlock.

Yeah, you'll have to buy a pack for this one.

I don't know if the Skylanders trick of buying a pack, putting it unopened on the base and taking it back will work or not.

Why would it ever unlock for a hexagonal-shaped one? This requires applying a Power-Up disc to a character, which are the stat-boosting, round Power Up discs. Can't do that with themes, weapons, and vehicles. Also, Dr. Geek 3, there's another achievement for playing a 2-player co-op mission, which requires an additional purchase as well.

I can confirm that this can NOT be done in a coop game. where a friend puts a power up disc on his base...you have to have one

This is bullshit. I have bought 3 packs of power discs with 2 in each so far and every one has been a hexagonal one. They should at least put one of each in a pack. Typical Disney money grabbing c***s.

For Firehawks comment from the instructions

"H) Disney Infinity Power Disc: Each Disney Infinity Starter Pack contains a randomly slecteded round OR hexagonal Power Disc.

Thats why it SHOULD work

Hexagonal discs work, as of the October Title Update. Please revise solution.

Wish I had seen this earlier, bought a pack and got 2 circular discs so not too bad.

I would agree with the assessment on the hexagonal power discs. I got a pack with my pre order that included two more hex discs along with the one the came with the game. Obvously put all three on there but no cheevo. I suspected it would require a round character one instead, and this confirms that. Kinda flys in the face of the requirements that no additional purchases should be required to complete the game.

I can confirm the reports the vSully provided that this achievement pops with the use of a circular Power Up Disc (as of August 21st 2013). I tried with hexagonal ones and the achievement didn't pop. Hoping that this is a glitch as this would be unfair because the hexagonal ones are still power up discs.

To use your power up disc and get the achievement I simply went into my toy box, placed down my circular power disk and placed my character on top and pop went the achievement :).

Enjoy :).

I would like to think it would be a glitch, because the hexagonal ones are also called "Power Discs", and you're supposed to be able to get all achievements in a game without any additional purchases

The achievement tile shows a round power up disc though.

Looks like it was a glitch, which has since been sorted :).

Unlock this achievement in The Toy Box. Your starter pack will come with one power disc. Place it on the correct slot, wait a few seconds and this achievement should unlock.

The Power Discs are the round ones but a recent patch means you can also use the hexagonal ones.
