There aren't really any shortcuts to this- you'll need to get 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in 100 online races. However, there is one thing that may be helpful: even though the description specifies Ranked Multiplayer, you can also play the Regulated Multiplayer mode and progress the achievement. With Regulated mode, every racer is locked to level 30 with no crew members- your version of the character is as good as anyone else's. My recommendation is to find a character with a kit you like to use and play that mode with them.

I only make progress towards this achievement by playing RANKED Multiplayer like the achievement description says. So this has been patched, Regular Multiplayer won't work.

While this and 30 wins may sound difficult and time consuming,they aren't really. Each racer you unlock has their own multiplayer rank (MPR). Lower ranked racers will be matched against other lower ranked racers, and for the first 3 or 4 MPR levels you'll also be matched with up to 4 AI bots in a field of 8, making it even easier to reach the top 3 in a race.
After playing for just over two months I had over 25 racers unlocked, so there is plenty of opportunity to grind out these results. Speedster class racers are often good for getting results at low ranks due to their setup and powerups. A level 15 speedster will almost certainly be enough to achieve regular podiums, so try a range of your available characters and see which you like using the most.
