A dull idol is of no value, so you need to create a “shiny” version of it. The recipe for creating a Shining Idol of Revival can be found in a book in Fort Joy, in the prison under the Masters' Fort: simply combine a Dull Idol of Revival with a Scroll of Resurrection.

The shining idol will automatically bring back to life the character in whose inventory it is located in the event of his death. But only once. After this, he will turn back into his Dim version. You can recreate the shining version as many times as you like as long as you have resurrection scrolls.
