How to unlock the Amazing achievement in Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition - Definitive Guide

Bellegar is first encountered inside the elemental demon cave at the topmost corner of Cysael, where the achievement "Is Anyone Home" is located:

I am unsure whether you need to have encountered Bellegar first before attempting this achievement (If that could be confirmed, would be appreciated!). But for the purpose of this explanation I will assume that you have met with Bellegar.

Note: The screenshots I took during the process of earning this achievement did not work. Will do my best to explain without screenshots.

Also, as this is a late game area, there are a lot of high level enemies around. All are pretty badass. So be prepared for tough fights as you navigate around the area for this achievement.

In the late game, in an area called the Phantom Forest Swamp and at map coordinates X:155 Y:170. Bellegar will appear and ask you to pick a treasure from a set of three barrels. Do NOT interact with any of the barrels as they will explode (I think doing so voids the achievement, if that can be confirmed also) This will unlock a new entry in your log called "Bellegar's Barrels".

Instead, head south to coordinates X:370 Y:144, where you will find a random large pile of gold sitting in the swamp. Interacting with this pile of gold will make Bellegar appear again and this time he will unlock a new waypoint for to use, which will also update your log entry of "Bellegar's Barrels".

The name of the waypoint to use is "Phantom Forest - Bellegar's Maze". There are no enemies in this new zone, so once you have teleported in you do not need to worry about fights. Upon exploring you will be presented with a puzzle, its not a difficult or mind bending puzzle.

The following link is an image of the puzzle and will help with my explanation:

The aim of this puzzle to to move the animal to each of the three green squares. The green squares unlock doors which contain high end gear and gold. Once you have moved the animal to each of the three squares the achievement will pop.

The animal is moved by using the three levers at the base of the puzzle board. Each lever polymorphs the navigating animal to either a dog, cat or rat. The animal you have changed to will navigate the board depending on whether it has the food it likes next to it. A dog will navigate to the bone, a cat to the fish and the rat to the cheese.

You can plan your route with what animal you need to change to after its moved over a square, the animal will go off on a tangent if it has two squares of the same food next to it. Which will happen. Not a game changer though, just replan your route on the fly.

This puzzle isnt that hard at all ... easy 1.5/10 on the difficulty scale.

Cheers.

interacting with the barrels indeed voids this achievement. I did that and looted one barrel. interacting with the huge gold pile caused a massive explosion then, which killed my whole party and did not give me the new waypoint. I had to reload an older savefile.

I can confirm that you do need to meet and talk to him in Cyseal for him to appear in the Phantom Forest. I had to re-do that part, so I ended up not talking to him again and when I got to the Phantom Forest I went to the spot for the barrels and he wasn't there. I went back to his place in Cyseal, talked to him with every dialogue option, and then went back and then he was there.

You can safely take one piece of equipment from the barrels and then they disappear so choose wisely. This DOES NOT void the achievement. I think the previous commenter got blown up by a watchful eye that patrols near the gold pile. laugh

Thanks OP, awesome solution I never would have figured out on my own, easy +1.

FYI this one didn't pop for me until I did a Game Hub refresh.

This seems to a big buggy and didn't unlock for me initially. Recommend making a save before you start the maze so you can redo a few times until it pops if you have trouble.
