How to unlock the Hot Swedish Action achievement in DJ Hero 2 - Definitive Guide

Hot Swedish Action: For spelling ABBA on the game results screen
(+1 to anyone that knows who ABBA is)

Easiest way to get this achievement:
Play: 2 player Checkpoint battle (easiest if you have 2 turntables, but can also be done on-line)
Mix: Snow - Informer vs. The Jackson 5 - ABC
Difficulty - Any that you feel comfortable with and can do well on.
(I did this on Expert, My little brother did it on Medium)
*Will not work on Easy as there are no cross fades on Easy

Player 1 should do NOTHING at all for the first 2 checkpoints. Once the 2nd checkpoint has passed, play the rest of the song as well as possible, You should get an 'ABBA' rating at the end of the mix. And of course the achievement!
Player 2 really doesn't have to do anything. Have your girlfriend or wife try playing :)

I got this achievement first try using this method.

That's why I love TA. I combined all 3 key elements I saw in here: the solution itself, the suggestion to add a microphone, and the suggestion to go see videos on how to "properly" freestyle (I personally think my Grade A freestyle sounded way worse than my Grade C freestyle, but whatever) and I got the achievement. Brilliant solution peeps; I never would have thought about any of that.

Wow, this worked perfectly on my second try (my freestyling was sporadic the first try). Why don't more people have this achievement!??

Worked perfectly. If you have problems getting it this way then just look up some tips on how to correctly do freestyle sections (which, in my opinion, this game doesn't do a very good job of showing you).

Tip that made this so much easier for me: Plug in a mic/controller and turn vocals on, that way you can do better on the freestyle crossfades. The game scores you really well if you alternate the crossfade after a lyric. Got an A for freestyling my first try after this, compared to getting Bs and Cs for random crossfades.

Getting ABBA (A for Scratching, a B for Taps, a B for Crossfading and an A for Freestyling) is probably a bit trickier for someone having only one controller at one's disposal than having battle with two controllers on Snow - Informer vs. The Jackson 5 - ABC.

I used this comment as my guideline for doing this achievement with one controller:

lord verh said:
someone from x36a suggested empire mode, Londen, DJ Battle vs. Kid Itch (Guetta vs The EGG) hit all scratches, 3/4 taps, start crossfades perfectly just get back to the middle too late and A rank the freestyle parts.

The quote above is pretty much the core of this solution.

Just to make this tip more exact...My stats were the following when I achieved Hot Swedish Action in the battle with Kid Itch (Empire Mode / London):

Result: Draw
Difficulty: Medium
Checkpoints Won: 7
Hits: 69%
Total Hits: 177 / 253
Freestyle Sections Hit: 13 / 13
Freestyle Sample Sections Hit: 6 / 6
Freestyle Crossfade Sections Hit: 7 / 7

I hope this makes aiming for the A,B,B,A-result more easier.

Concentrate on getting A's on scratches and freestyles. Remember you can ignore everything else over these. Getting enough non-freestyle crossfades and taps shouldn't be a problem with this mix and difficulty. More likely you get them too much and get A's on them (especially crossfades)... so hold your horses with these.

If you don't get it right on your first try, view your stats after the battle to see what you need to adjust on your next try.

Should take few tries at most this one to pop. Took me four tries.

Nice - got it on my fourth try (freestyle was a bit of a problem until I concentrated more on trying to get as many taps as I could into those sections while still maintaining some kind of rhythm)

Didn't get it on the win, didn't get it on the draw... got it when I got knocked out. Three times and pop, thank you much for the song suggestion and layout. Danke!

+1. Got it on my 5th or 6th try on Medium. Some tips for some:
I skipped hitting green taps. I hit maybe 2-3 green taps. If they were green scratches, I of course hit them!! Skipped SOME blue taps. Hit every red tap... for the freestyle A grade try hitting the red freestyle taps fast & on beat. Lastly, crossfading I would only slide to one side ONCE then go to the middle late after some crossfading sections. Play the song a few times and you'll know what I'm talking about. good luck to all.

This achievement is called 'Hot Swedish Action'.

The criteria for unlocking it is a touch confusing, at first, but once you commit it to memory, you'll able to try for it during play.

In any Battle get an A for Scratching, a B for Taps, a B for Crossfading and an A for Freestyling.
Now, there are a couple of ways you can go about this - it might require taking a few dives in online play to attempt to lower the standard of your taps and crossfades. But I personally just did this in two player Battle, with a second turntable.

So if you've got a second peripheral handy, you won't be forced to drop any games in attempting this.

The hardest part of this is getting the A in Freestyling, I do believe. I get confused as to what falls under freestyling so my methodology basically saw me using the effects at any opportunity, and basically going ballistic during the freestyle sections - it's going to take some luck, that I can assure you.

And special thanks to turlanator for this fine tip:
Snow - Informer vs. The Jackson 5 - ABC is a good mix to do this on. Just leave the crossfader on the left and miss a loads of taps.

This mix is pretty easy to get an A in Freestyle if you stick to the rhythm of the track.

Good luck, see you in Waterloo.

Can I also ask anyone that gives me a thumbs-down to explain why? If there's anything you think is missing just say.

There's nothing that makes this community more frustrating than members running wild, negging others and not justifying a thing. So, if you can justify it I'll gladly accept it.

Where can you check how well you did it? I never see like an A for taps/crossfading/schratching, just for FREESTYLE crossfading/taps/schratching???

I couldn't for the life of me get an A for freestyle on the ABC song so I did it with the Iyaz vs. Rihanna – Replay vs. Rude Boy song. Seemed much easier to get A for freestyle.

This is a tricky trophy. You will need to be in a Battle to even attempt this trophy, whether it be local play (with 2 turntables) or online. You need to get rank A for Scratching and Freestyling while getting rank B for Taps and Crossfading. It will take some experimenting to get the proper ranks.

If you have two turntables and can do it locally and an easy way to do this is to play Snow-Informer vs Jackson 5-ABC. Do nothing for the first two checkpoints (except for the effects dial) and then ace the rest of the song. Easy as that!

There is no sure fire, concrete way to obtain this achievement. Different songs require you to miss a different amount of notes to get B's for Taps and Crossfades. I managed this on the Timbaland mix for "Way I Are." What I did was miss around 30-40 Taps and was intentionally late on almost every crossfade. I did this during a checkpoint battle online.

If you have the other player simply lay down in defeat, you can get this within the first 7 checkpoints and it takes around a minute and a half. It's not the most difficult in terms of skill, but it definitely will allude many a player.

If you need further help with this achievement, refer to the  video below. Credit to AndyFreak457.
