How to unlock the THE LORD OF COMBO achievement in DJMAX RESPECT V - Definitive Guide

In the Settings menu there will be an option to enable the Freestyle Combo Chain. Once enabled, the combo in Freestyle Play will carry over between songs and will allow you to reach a combo higher than the number of notes in any individual song, which will be required for this achievement.

You do not necessarily need to hit 999,999 consecutive notes to get this achievement. By turning on Auto 5X Fever your combo can increase up to 5x more per note if you have a good streak going. If you happen to miss a note while playing a song, immediately backing out to the Music Select will cause you to lose all of your combo. Instead, if you miss a note, you should hit Restart, which will essentially reset your combo state back to how it was before you started that song, and then you can return to the Music Select if you don't want to try that song again.

Since they're both really grindy achievements, I'd recommend going for this at the same time as the achievement for getting 80% of the Master Score for any button. Just stick to the same button (4B, 5B, 6B or 8B) and go through as many songs on as many difficulties that you can get FCs on and eventually you should get both achivevements

Generally speaking getting to a 999,999 combo is going to take a fairly long time, and it means that you'll constantly need to go into songs with the intent on getting a Full Combo every single time. If you wanted to take a break from getting non-stop FCs and instead, for example, aim for S ranks on really difficult songs or something, you can go into the Settings and turn the Freestyle Combo Chain off, which will keep your currently chained combo saved and allow you to come back to the 999,999 combo grind any time you want.

Is this a mechanic as designed (restarting song not resetting progress)? Just wondering if you’d think this would get patched to not to work this way in the future.

Is the Master Score just your average accuracy percent over all charts on a certain button? Or is it more complicated than that?

I asked around with people more familiar with the game and it seems like the master score is basically the % of all charts for that button that you've gotten an S rank and Max Combo on (Perfect Plays apparently don't do anything extra). The "Master Score %" is a bit misleading since it apparently has nothing to do without your actual score, so you only need to worry about getting the 97% rate for the S ranks and the Max Combos for as many songs that you can (I do believe that C-A ranks still increase your % as well, just obviously not as much).

That's also why if you have a look at the leaderboards you can see people with a higher score but lower % than others, they've simply gotten a higher cumulative score from playing more songs, but a lower Max Combo and/or S rank count

I don't know how or why I did this. Actually awful I lost a combo of over 600k when I was super sleep deprived grinding... I was going to go for 100 percent but I don't think so anymore...

I never want to hear Marshmallow, Always or Soul Lady ever again.. All the Guilty Gear songs are still great.

Some ease of mind for anyone going for this, i’ve had all 3 fuck my life scenarios happen while going for this and my combo saved everytime

1. Game crashed on computer the second after i missed a note, loaded up game and combo maintained.

2. Controller batteries died and i failed the song obviously while trying to turn it back on. They give u the same options regardless (restart and exit). Just restart and it’ll save like usual

3. Missed the last note of a song a millisecond before song finished, u can just pause as fast as possible and restart. There’s a couple seconds window available

only thing that can really screw u is if u were right at end and controller dies but u should play on pc anyways, only reason i was on console at one point was cuz game wouldn’t load on computer

Worth noting in conjunction with Inferno's #1, if you picked a song out of your depth, you can close the game in task manager and keep your combo when you relaunch.

Got about 300 songs into this (going for other achievements at the same time) and somehow screwed it up. Was at 686,000 and now I have to start over. My pain is immeasurable.

Yeah the mechanic where it keeps your combo as long as you restart has been the same since the original DJMAX Respect came out on PS4 back in 2017 so I doubt they'd feel like patching it out now.

It might not have been intentional specifically for Freestyle mode, but carrying combos between songs and allowing restarts is essential for Mission mode so they probably just said whatever and copied the logic between modes
