How to unlock the Dementulaphobia achievement in Dolmen - Definitive Guide
Dementula is the first boss in the game and you won't be able to progress until you beat her.
From the Dump | Crater Rooms teleport station, exit the door on the lower level and then go through the door to your left in the next room. You'll be in a hallway with red lights and what will become a familiar sight: the respawn/multiplayer console.
Assuming you haven't beaten this boss yet, the entrance to the boss arena is just before the respawn console on the right. Enter the red tunnel and you'll be notified you're entering Dementula's Nest. You'll get a cutscene which is skippable (maybe after the first viewing ... I forget if I could skip it the first time) and the boss, a spider, will drop from the ceiling on the far side of the smallish arena.
Dementula is weak to ice weapons, so have your Ice Zoan Pistol and either Ice Scrap Sword or other weapons if they out DPS your ice gear.
Dementula's attacks are simple and telegraphed: leaping attacks that are unblockable, a thrusting out of her front legs if you stay too close to her and she's facing you, and an acid spitting attack when you're at a distance. Additionally, she'll summon smaller spiders if you take too long to kill her.
Battery conservation is key here; you can find time to restore stamina and healing happens quickly, but consuming a battery takes so long that either one of her little spider children or a spitting attack will try to interrupt your recharge. Not that it can't be done, it's just harder to find the time.
I recommend continually hitting her with ranged attacks and, when she jumps toward you, dodge and hit her twice with melee but then back off. At lower levels you don't dish out the damage quickly enough to merit trading hits. A good time to heal and recharge your battery are when she's summoning little spiders, but that assumes there are no existing little spiders that can attack you.
Locking on is good for when you're using ranged attacks but be ready to disengage and sweep away the weaker little spiders before you run out of room to deal with her venom spitting or just trying to recuperate some stamina and let your battery recharge.
