Confirming you do not need to play every match, just the last test match and win. Setting the difficulty to Rookie/Easiest makes this much easier. During my Career, take note of when you are selected for your country for a test series. All my series were 3 matches. I simulated the first 2 and if I didn't win both, I carried on simulating until the next test series.

Playing as New Zealand, I had to wait 3 seasons before my team won the first 2 matches (against West Indies), so you could play as India or Australia to make this even easier. Just play and win the 3rd test match.
