How to unlock the Shocking! achievement in DOOM 3: BFG Edition - Definitive Guide

The invulnerability hunter is the third and final hunter boss within the resurrection of evil campaign. This boss will appear in ‘Phobos Labs – Level 2’ after you have rode the elevator down from security core.

With this boss there are 3 cylindrical containers within the room that grant the hunter invulnerability while they’re active. When they are active I would suggest simply strafing away from his electrical bolts which he throws at you, and also staying away from any already broken and flaming cylinders as these can also deal damage. When one of the cylinders computer monitors turns green you can open the cylinder and deal damage to it. I would recommend the chain-gun for this and also that you stand back while shooting the cylinder as the resulting explosion can damage you.

When you destroy a cylinder the system will shut-down and the hunter becomes temporarily vunerable, in which case you want to unload on him with everything you’ve got. Eventually the system will come back online and he will become invincible again so simply repeat step 1 and disable another container.

Eventually when all the cylinders are destroyed and you have dealt sufficient damage to the hunter he will die and you can continue on. Just keep moving and try not to get too close to the hunter or to wander into any burning cylinders as these deal a lot of damage.

Is that what you meant? Unloading on him when he is invincible would be a waste of ammo?
Otherwise a good guide and a +1 from me.

Yes, my bad facepalm This is why I should proof read at a reasonable time of the day. Thanks for pointing this out and I'm glad it helped.

Closer to the end of Doom 3 RoE you will have to fight this boss. You can not damage this boss when he is surrounded by electricity. When he is not just unload whatever you got on him. When he is surrounded by electricity go to one of the 4 corners of the room and open the pillars, then destroy the electric rod in there and repeat. While you do this he will throw electric balls at you and they are easily dodged. Do not destroy them from a close range or you will be damaged.

Story related, cannot be missed.

The Invulnerability Hunter can be really tough. You can't shoot him when he's glowing with electricity. You must activate the terminals that are active, and destroy the cores generating the Hunters shield. Blowing them up can be risky and drain a lot of health. Make sure you are constantly saving through out the battle and especially when you're about to destroy his shield. If you see yourself stuck when destroying a generator for his shield, enter Hell Time to prevent damage. Also, below where you're fighting him is a bunch of bodies to get ammo for Hell Time, so take advantage of that as well.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Enter the Invulnerability Hunter, the final of the three Hunter bosses. This one is easily the hardest of the three, possibly even the hardest boss in all of Doom 3.

What you’re going to want to do is right when the battle begins, jump away to the right or left and avoid his attacks. Keep moving during this fight to avoid as much damage as you can.

You will have noticed that a power core failed, resulting him to be vulnerable to attacks. While there is a static-like effect over his body is when he is vulnerable. Simply use the Bloodstone and let him have it while he can be hurt. When you see him beginning to power back up and the static effects get stronger, you will need to open the power core covers by pressing the control panels on them when they are green and then destroy them.

Repeat this process to take him down. Just watch out for his melee attack as it does massive damage.
