How to unlock the That was Fun achievement in DOOM 64 - Definitive Guide

Pretty straight forward, play and finish a "Fun" Level. I used level 27 for this achievement. Start by entering the following code: RY48 9BFY 6?JM KBK? in the passcode menu to start the level. Immediately grab the rocket launcher and fire away at the arachnotrons on the pillars and do not stop moving. Once these are dead a mega sphere will appear, once picked up a cyberdemon will need to be killed in order to continue. Once dealt with an army of mancubi will appear, clear them out to finish the level.

I found it to be fun, was the simplest level in my opinion to do. Start level, kill stuff, win, pop achievement. Maybe a little tricky at first but doable at least =)

Great guide. Only issue I had was keeping enough health through the cyberdemon. You can definitely strafe the perimeter of the room with him and that makes it worlds easier. I got to the mancubus army with 160 health.

Being its Doom64, you can also save whenever you feel you are doing good and load that save point if needed.

For me, the easiest was Level 25 : Cat & Mouse. I tried the others and had difficulty so just saved constantly throughout Cat & Mouse just as soon as I had a couple of clean shots on the enemy.

cat and mouse was mostly fun. when the cyber-demon would teleport next to my-character i wouldn't use the word 'fun' to describe the emotion i felt.

Thank you for saving me a lot of frustration dontobago for anyone wondering use this and then use the red weapon, it’s called the unmaker it’s the best gun in the game and when you run out use the Gatling gun it makes it really easy even the cannonball guys after the demon

If you're using DonTobago's code don't bother with the rocket launcher on the cyberdemon, keep in RBing til you get to the last weapon, The Unmaker. Also, if you haven't already gotten it killing the cyberdemon will unlock:

Go to Options and select Password from the list.

Type in: ?QDM 7HYC BB4X FJVB

This loads you on level 1 on the easiest difficulty with full ammo and weapons.

Now pause the game and you'll see a new option called Features that isn't available normally.

This allows you to select any level to play.

The fun levels are:

MAP25: Cat And Mouse
MAP26: Hardcore
MAP27: Playground

Choose any of those and complete the level for the achievement.

I did Cat and Mouse and save scummed it. Go back and right and follow the patt around until a door on the right. Go in and pick up the rocket launcher and all the rockets. Now it's just a case of getting some clean hits on the Cyberdemon and hiding and saving.

Only warp to the level. Don't use any other cheats as they disable the achievement.

Exactly how many "clean hits" need to land? I must've landed at least 25 and he's still alive. Am I missing something?

I got this just as I died. The Cyberdemon died from the rocket I fired just before dying and it counted as beating the level. lol

From the main menu, select 'Options' then 'Password'. Type in ?QDM 7HYC BB4X FJVB. You will spawn on 'MAP01: Staging Area' on 'Be Gentle' difficulty with 200 Health, 200 Armor, all weapons and full ammo.

By using the password, when you pause the game, there will be a new option called 'Features'. Select it and this will open up a menu that will allow you to warp to any level, as well as change other aspects of the game. IMPORTANT: Do not change any of the settings besides 'Warp to Level'. If you do, you will disable the achievement.

There are four Fun levels to choose from: 'Cat and Mouse' 'Hardcore', 'Playground' and 'Panic'. Press or until it says 'Warp to Fun', select the desired map then press to start the level.

In these small levels, you face tough enemies, such as the Cyberdemon, Arachnotrons and Mancubi. 'Cat and Mouse' is probably the 'easiest' of these levels as you only face the Cyberdemon, but you still need to be careful as the corridors are tight and the Cyberdemon teleports. Complete any one of these levels to unlock the achievement.

Note that if you have not unlocked "Rip and Tear!" already, you will do so during this level.

The 'Fun' levels in the game are Levels 25, 26 and 27, finish any of these on any difficulty and this trophy will unlock. Use password "XR1M 7HVM BCRZ YJVB" to start on level 27 'Playground' with all weapons, full ammo and on easiest difficulty. This is the quickest and easiest of the 3 'fun' levels. Destroy all enemies in the level to complete it and unlock this trophy. If you are doing a legit playthrough then on completion of level 25 'Cat and Mouse' you will unlock this trophy.

After completing the Hectic secret level for the trophy RVNH3CT1CD3M0??? The Features section will open in the pause menu. In this section you can select any level and cheats (Enabled cheats disable trophies). You need to choose any of the three levels and go through it.
Level names:
Cat And Mouse
Hardcore
Playground
I went through Hardcore, it seemed easier to me. Also in this level you can get a trophy for killing a cyberdemon.

I did not check this information, since I knocked out the trophy in the standard way, but there are passwords for each of these levels that allow you to start the game immediately from it, without going through Hectic. Anyone who wants can try
Passwords for starting with easy difficulty (Passwords are entered in the options menu in the main menu):

I personally recommend choosing Playground instead of Hardcore, in Hardcore it’s not a fact if enemies stop teleporting, in Playground you just fire at Spiders, Cyberdemon (+1 Achievement if you haven’t knocked it out before) and Mancubos with rocket launchers, it’s as easy as shelling pears, just run in circles .

There is also a Panic level, for which you also get a trophy. Apparently it was added in the new edition.

Normal strategy: shoot while running around the central location of the map, where Berserker lies, and the main thing is not to rush...
