How to unlock the Indiscriminate Headhunter achievement in DOOM + DOOM II - Definitive Guide

10/10/24 Update:
As of Update 1, you can now easily activate cheats on console through the pause menu.

EDIT: Thanks to all the comments down below for helping people with the original enemies and more. I've overhauled this solution to include easy locations for just about every enemy in the collection.

Cheats:
It goes without saying that using the in-game cheats makes this achievement trivial.

If playing on PC: use the `~ key to open the command line and use 'god' for godmode, 'give all' for all weapons and items, and 'noclip' to walk through walls.

If playing on Xbox consoles: plug in a keyboard via USB and while the game is running, type 'IDDQD' for godmode, 'IDKFA' for all weapons and items, and 'IDCLIP' for noclip.

Full list of original Doom & Doom II enemies needed (17 total):
Zombieman, Shotgun Guy, Imp, Demon, Spectre, Baron of Hell, Cacodemon, Lost Soul, Spiderdemon, Heavy Weapon Dude, Hell Knight, Revenant, Mancubus, Arachnotron, Pain Elemental, Arch-Vile, Cyberdemon

As HUN playmore pointed out, Doom II Map30 Icon of Sin has almost every original enemy. Set the Difficulty to Ultra-Violence and turn on Fast Enemies in the Difficulty Modifiers and load up the level. Give yourself godmode and all weapons. On Ultra-Violence, these are all the enemies that will spawn from the Icon of Sin: Imp, Demon, Spectre, Cacodemon, Mancubus, Hell Knight, Arachnotron, Baron of Hell (rare), Revenant (rare, but one is already spawned at the start on U-V difficulty), Pain Elemental (rare, but spawns Lost Souls), and the Arch-Vile (very very rarely). If you're not finding the enemies you're missing just wait it out, I confirmed all of these do spawn in eventually.

Enemies like the Zombieman, Shotgun Guy, and Heavy Weapon Dude can be found in basically any level of Doom II except Icon of Sin.

Go back to Doom 1 and load up E3M8 (Dis) to kill the Spiderdemon boss.

The easter egg enemies (Wolfenstein SS / Commander Keen) and John Romero's head aren't counted.

Legacy of Rust contains new enemies not found in the original Dooms 1 & 2. The new enemies are:
Banshee - floating screaming red blob with a face
Ghoul - based off an early Lost Soul design
Shocktrooper - looks like the player model
Mindweaver - based off an early Arachnotron design
Vassago - large black demon that shoots fire
Tyrant - green variant of Cyberdemon

For the these new enemies added in Legacy of Rust + rare original enemies, start by loading up E2M7 The Brink of that game. Give yourself godmode, all weapons, and use noclip to bypass the doors. In this level you'll find: Cyberdemon, Arch-Vile, Vassago, and Tyrant. The Cyberdemons are behind doors in the first arena areas and there's a pile of Arch-Viles behind a central door further down the line.

Next load up Legacy of Rust E1M6 The Coiled City to find Mindweavers and Ghouls at the bottom of the spiral stairs (hit the switch on the giant skull on the wall).

Legacy of Rust E1M7 Forfeited Salvation has both Shocktroopers and Banshees hidden inside the walls and behind doors, so use noclip to find them. Banshees suicide-bomb themselves when close to you so hold down shoot while entering their rooms.

If there's anything useful I should add here let me know.

(all levels are in Legacy of Rust)
There are Banshees and Ghouls right at the start of E2M5. Shocktroopers can be found in E1M0 Ash Mill behind the big windmill. Mindweavers are the first enemies you'll encounter on E1M6. E2M7 contains both Vassago and Tyrants. Use noclip to find all these enemies more quickly.

My last one needed was the Arch-Vile. Go to The Plutonia Experiment, Level 11: Hunted. This level is full of Arch-Vile, you will see them right in front of you in a cage at the start.

Word of advice for the banshee spawn on legacy of Rust E2M5. I couldn't get them to spawn until I activated the red skull eyes as part of first puzzle in the level.
Just don't use "idclip" code and they should spawn. I had tried all other modifiers before this.

If you play on both Xbox and PC, keep in mind that achievements span both versions but achievement progress is only saved locally. I had 22/23 on Xbox with only the Tyrant left to kill, killed one on PC and didn't get it. Loaded up Legacy of Rust E2M7 on PC, killed one and got it. Side note, I used the calamity blade, whoever said kills only count with guns is wrong.
What Glowblue1 said got me thinking and retracing steps.

Not the same issue but I killed the Tyrant a million times... went back with no clip OFF and used a rocket and bleep bloop.... sigh

I was stuck on 22/23 for hours but found one the one I was missing on Legacy of Rust E1M7. It is a human soldier with a helmet. There are loads of them in cages up and around where you spawn in the map. Try this one if you are stuck. I think this might be Shocktrooper which I had previously marked off. Whoops :)

Do you have level locations for the original enemies?

For non rust enemies load up Doom 2 Mission 30: Icon of Sin (fast monsters enabled). Everything but the corrupted humans (gunner, shotgunner, chaingunner) and the Baron of Hell (tall pink demon with fireballs, not the one with the big mouth) spawns there. Arch-Vile is also a very rare spawn there so you should try to find it elsewhere.
BUT my main advice is to kill the Spider Mastermind (unique boss) in Doom 1 E3M8: Dis as I wasted hours on killing everything else over and over while I was stuck on 22/23.

Go 2 It(plutonia level 32) would be a good one for high level enemies

Thank you TheGreatKoala! Plutonia Level 32 worked like a charm for my last one. Some guy in a red jumpsuit with hoses coming off him.

echoing @Krispyfoot after being stuck at 22/23 for a while I noticed I never found a banshee on E2M5 or any other level. So I played a different level that supposedly had a banshee, killed it and got the achieve.

So frustrating, suck in 21/23 and there's no way to figure out which ones I'm missing. I've been to all the above recommended levels and feel like I've killed everything multiple times yet no increase on my kill count. Would help if there was a way to see which ones you're missing..

After erasing my save several times thinking it was a bug I finally found out what the problem is. the game only counts the deaths with guns by shooting. then the deaths with flamethrower and flaming arrow do not count. after I realized this detail I got on the first attempt.

I was missing the shock trooper from the rust worlds. I followed welsh guide so if anyone else followed it and was missing one that was it for me!

I was missing Baron of Hell. Go to MAP08: Tricks and Traps (Doom II) and there is an entire room of them.

For Doom 1 & 2 there is an Arch-vile in a room on the right hand side of Map 11: Circle of Death. Played on Ultra Violence..not sure if that matters. Was taking too long for one to spawn in Icon of Sin, and that was the only one I was missing from the first 2 games.

Most players stuck on 21,22/23, I think they miss 2 enemies in Legacy of Rust E1M7: Banshee (floating red head) and Shocktrooper (looks like yourself uses Plasma gun).

Shocktrooper locates at the pit with some cages above you. You can check the counter on the achievement list inside the game menu, but it doesn't show you which enemies you miss, only the total number.

I swear I had played the level to kill the giant boss spider robot already, but after trying to almost an hour to kill other enemies, going back to the spider boss unlocked the achievmenet --> Spider Mastermind (unique boss) in Doom 1 E3M8: Dis as I

Arachnotron for me, its similar but different from LoR Mindweaver, killed in Doom 2 Map 11, near the arch-vile in the right side of the map.

For me, Pain Elemental, a flying enemy that spits out skulls, was the last enemy I was missing. I was able to find him in DOOM 2, at level 15, thanks to a Yt video.

The flamethrower did not count for me on Legacy of Rust killing the Tyrant and the Vassago. Killed every other enemy and then read the comment from Lavsma so went back and killed them with super shotgun and worked straight away!

(all levels are in Legacy of Rust)
There are Banshees and Ghouls right at the start of E2M5. Shocktroopers can be found in E1M0 Ash Mill behind the big windmill. Mindweavers are the first enemies you'll encounter on E1M6. E2M7 contains both Vassago and Tyrants. Use noclip to find all these enemies more quickly.

There are 23 enemies to kill. Apart from all the enemies you expect in DOOM and DOOM II, Legacy of Rust also bring several new enemies. You'll fight some on the last stage (E2M7); E2M5 is a handy place to get the Banshee enemy, which I was struggling to find as my last one.

Enemies from the new DLC (Legacy of Rust) also count, but Wolfenstein SS and Commander Keen, which are technically also monsters, do not.
If you complete Doom 2 and LoR, it's guaranteed to drop.
