DOOM II (Classic)

The port is fine, the achievement tracking is the buggy part. I did the secret levels separate of my main playthrough and got the achievement when I was supposed to.

I had the exact same issue. Finished the game, but this achievement did not unlock, also stuck at 88%. I also did the secret levels from level 15.

Started another play-through, and now after finishing level 15 the normal way, I got the achievement.

The city levels are quite frustrating and a chore to work through whereas this video is so simple to follow. Thanks

No worries! The city levels can be a huge pain if you do not know them already. Some of those levels you do not even go to 85% of if you are just trying to get to the exit.

You should make a solution for the 200GS version of Doom II. I am using all your great videos for xboxone and 360arcade. Thanks :)

Achievement didn't pop....

Did you take the secret exit?

The progress is at 88%, I played all lvls in order, yes took the secret exit.

Will give it a try.

I meant to write it earlier, and but use the normal exit. My hunch is that the achievement tracker somehow utilizes the player triggering normal exit level linedef, which is different from the secret exit.

Anyway, at least for me it popped when I replayed the game and used normal exit on level 15 as I was attempting the speedrun achievement.

Got it.
Used normal exit, rushed through on easy. *ping* achievemnt unlocked.
I assume the game doesnt count the lvl to be played when exiting to the secret level.

Yup, secret exits should count but for some reason they do not.

I can confirm: made 2 runs through the secret exit, achievement didn't pop up.
Replayed the level through the level select menu, went to the normal exit, achievement popped instantly.

I took the secret exit in my first playthrough and was at 88%. Then I replayed Level 15 and I didn't get the achievement. After 3 replays it still shows 88%, is there something I'm missing? Does it need to be the same difficulty as the other levels?

I think that in that case, level 15 does not count. Replay it; I think you can use level select to make it fast. (At the time of launch, one had to use an earlier save or replay the whole game up until that).

Edit: When I say ”you can use level select”, I mean ”I assume you can use level select”
