This is quite simply obtained by completing the description. Each game mode has a different Gold rating requirement, and you can achieve that rating by getting kills, assists, capturing points, etc. The better you play, the better your rating.
I found this easiest in Warpath as it requires 1,500 for a Gold rating and you're constantly in battle over the moving point, giving you plenty of attempts to gain points off captures and kills.
EDIT: Just as an fyi, this does not unlock until the end of the match, so don't fret if you notice it shows your Gold rating in the middle of a match but it didn't pop. :)

How good do you need to be at warpath? I'm not a terrible gamer but DOOM MP isn't my strongest game.

You'll get this just by playing up to level 44 for the runes. I'm not very good myself and I have 5 Gold ratings and 1 Slayer rating in all my games. I would say mediocre? It also depends on who you're matched with.

I got this in the beginner game type on my third match, so you can get this in the Beginners Only playlist if you can. I was locked out after three matches due to leveling over level 10.

I am really struggling with this. I'm not very good at Doom mp and it never seems like I have time to get the 22 or so kills needed for Gold. Any advice from the community as far as loadouts or game modes?

I definitely found some objective ones easier. TDM is definitely a harder one to get gold. Trying FFA isn't a bad idea either. I got the slayer level (or whatever the red one was called) a few times.

I'm terrible at MP and I've gotten some golds on Team Warpath. If the game is relatively close, thats even better. Focus on captures and kills.

The objective based game modes are definitely the best. I picked up golds and a couple slayers on the capture point and warpath modes - focus only on grabbing the points and get the kills as you can. It'll come. :)

Possession is also a good option when you have a small team of 4 or 5 players where the possessed one can't catch you. You get 500 points if you survive the round and 250 if you are the last one standing. I played last night. I got 2000 points in 3 rounds or so.

So I got a gold medal at the end of one of my matches last night on one of the team modes (capturing zones - don't know its proper name) - medal showed up on the post-game screen but it's not there on my profile. Guess I've been jerked around. I'd bought the game rather than just playing the preview so that's not the issue. Was also level 11 or something so I wasn't in the beginners playlist either.

I think it depends on when in the game you finally unlock your gold medal since it didn't unlock for me when I pulled the gold on the final domination cap of the game (which ended the game) but did unlock at the end of the match the next time I got a gold when the game was still going. Hope this helps anybody that was having problems with this one

Warpath is definitely the way to go here. Played a bunch of pretty good games of Team Deathmatch and came short every single time. The very first time I played Warpath, I got the gold medal. Keep your focus on the area and use grenades and other explosive weapons to clear out the area under enemy control. Capturing the area gives a bunch of points and the threshold for gold isn't that high.

Couldn't get a gold on warpath ended up getting it on domination got the slayer medal in my first game of it and on my second time playing domination got around 2300 points i think 1700 is needed for gold. Go for the A and C points to capture more likely to have less enemies than on B, I used the default ambusher class and used the heavy assault rifle for my kills, use the scope at range and hipfire and hold down trigger when in CQC.

Copying from @iMaginaryy on one of the other Achievement threads - this seems to have been successful for people not being able to unlock stuff during the trial, even if they own the full retail game.
"I had the same issue as stated above, and I had to delete my LOCAL save (not cloud), resync, complete a challenge, delete my LOCAL save again, and complete another challenge in order to get it to pop. (under manage games, save data. DO NOT DELETE YOUR CLOUD SAVE WHEN ASKED. Select Delete on this Xbox only. Game will resync when you boot it up again, after pressing A on title screen to load profile)"
